If you have access to fastboot, shouldn't there be some way to save it? Have you tried applying SAPPIMG.nbh?

Whatever the term is for it, I can't save the device. Because the SPL is perfected, it will not allow me to flash anything at all, radio, recovery, spl.... nada. Just a word to the wise, don't do it. LOL. I've tried everything. got a galaxy s though.

I had a semi bricked phone that could only get to fastboot with the perfectedSPL. Was able to flash the Sappimg.nbh file to reroot, then unroot it again and it worked fine

Strange.... it wouldn't let me flash it.

That's because you don't "flash" sappimg.nbh, you apply it from the bootloader, I think. Power + Volume Down.

Ok, let me put it this way: i can't "flash" or apply anything. It's jacked up.

Hey I screwed up quite a few times in the beginning when rooting, a few times where I could only enter fasboot. What worked for me was flashing the official update from htc (htc.com/dk) from fastboot. (Then of course the hassle of re-rooting, but if that's the only way, small price). I don't know if you can get an official RUU to try? Otherwise, pm me and I'll se about sending you the file if you want to try with the Danish one (I think it's 1.5 or 1.6 + sense UI)..
Edit. This was comming from the official update with perfect split, 1.76.0007.
And you'll of course need to installed fasboot drivers if you haven't already....

Do you have the .nbh file on the sdcard?

I'm really surprised that reverting to cupcake won't work.

TheUnlockr.com has a link to the nbh file that works on my 32B AMERICAN TMOBILE MYTOUCH 3G, but I have no idea if that'll work on your Rogers phone.

Well the mytouch I have is 32A. I did have the file on the SD card.... but no dice.

what procedure are you following? You should have the sappimg.nbh file on the root of the sd card, then boot into fastboot and choose "apply update from sd card." Then just relax until you're in cupcake and use flashrec to install amon_ra recovery, and proceed to flash roms as usual.

You could try this method, see if it helps.

Perm Root not working

I followed multiple steps for installing perm root on a friends Mytouch and for some reason we could not get the s-off feature to work. I noticed too we do have SU access via adb or terminal but I still never could get s-off. After we got root we used rom manager to install clockwork and after the fact it installed 3.0.2 i believe it completely borked the recovery. I stepped it down to 3.0.0 and still had the same issue. The main reason i wanted to get s-off was to adb flash the recovery but I got a signature fail. Any ideas or suggestions to get this working correctly? Rom Manager will not let me install 2x cwm basically stating it can not install it period. I also tried the batch file root method same issue. Thanks for your help in advance.
Please look at the "True permaroot and S-OFF" thread in Development section, and execute step-by-step.
If your friend's MT4G is running Gingerbread (Android 2.3.3), you'll need to use Gingerbreak instead of Visionary+ to get root access.
Its on froyo and i followed that guide i have perm root but we can not get s off. I can use root access for any programs

If you are following the ./gfree method step by step it will root your phone.
If you are using the root.sh script and it's not working chances are you may have a bad eMMC chipset and it will not root properly.
I know HTC said they would be pushing a update to close the exploit hole that is used to root our phones but i don't think it's been pushed yet.

HTC isn't "becoming a Motorola". HTC, is completely different. We do have a locked bootloader. But it's easily unlock-able whereas Moto's aren't.

I don't know what to tell you. There are several threads out there regarding how to root your phone. Both in a .gfree form and a root.sh form. One of those 2 work for 99.9% of EVERYONE.
You might try finding someone who put together a .zip that can be flashed through the android recovery(white screen with boot options, etc.). Otherwise you can get the RUU and return to stock. After that follow the directions step by step and DO NOT mix methods. This should result in an S-OFF root, if you did your homework correctly.

As someone already explained before, when the security is on, no matter the amount of flashing you're going to try - it won't get you anywhere, since it won't be written to the actual ROM, and will be gone on restart.
Unless you pick a guide, follow it exactly, and post here everything that doesn't look proper - I don't think the forum can help you much.
Here's one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=858996
Follow it and post anything that doesn't look good. Including your bootloader version.
The root is sticking on reboots but still no soff that's what i have been saying and i followed the guides to a t its not my first picnic rooting or roming a phone this one just has me stumped

What does your bootloader show when you boot into it?
For the root to stick after boot, you had to have S-OFF, otherwise the eMMC wouldn't have been written to.
Having no info from you, as I said, it's impossible to help. If all this thread is just a complaint - by all means, but in that case there's no point in helping you. If you want help - you need to provide enough details for people to help you. Obviously, nobody can figure out anything from "I can't get s-off".
I do a adb reboot bootloader and i get us fast boot up top it says s-on but if i reboot to the os i still have root access for instance in titanium backup or Rom manager of that helps any

[Q] Easiest way to downgrade cwm

Im on cwm 3.0.0.6 and am sick of the fact that i cant turn on the phone if it has completely died and is then charging and then have to reinsert the battery to get it to turn back on, so was wondering what would be the easiest way to change recovery to one where this problem is resolved, thanks

If your S off then just fastboot it or if you are not S off use unrevoked. S off and fastbooting is the fastest way and easiest.

And downgrading recovery won't solve that bug. But upgrading solves. Better to flash the latest 4.x recovery and use a secondary 2.x recovery from rom manager.

thanks for the file, was wondering if this would work, if i make a backup of my current rom and then install the new recovery and then restore the backup, so in effect the only thing changed is the recovery or would that not work?
EDIT: and also when i rename the zip that ive downloaded from the link, it needs to be capitals doesnt it, ie PC49IMG.zip and not whatever the name is when it is downloaded
It will work. Nandroid backup and restore will not be recovery specific.
And rename the file to PC49IMG.ZIP, it is not case sensitive. So you can use either all capitals or all small letters. But the sdcard must be fat32.

Bad flash on recovery

Hello everyone,
This is my first post and I'm already asking for help
I have had my rooted Click/Tattoo for about 15 mouths now, yesterday I updated my recovery and flashed the wrong one by accident (I flashed a Wildfire one not a Click one).
The phone boots into Android 1.6 but won't let me flash a new recovery either on the phone terminal with Super User or on my PC with adb. Also I can't flash using Fast boot as my phone has decided to turn Security back on.
I have no Idea what to do, as I have a basicily useless phone at the moment, please help

Just make sure its on the root of your sd card, and its named PC36IMG [it'll already be a zip file].
#1 reason why I do NOT use wipe scripts. Both times i did, my Recovery was corrupted
I've also used flash GUI to flash recovery right in android...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1045797
Download from XDA and it's free...can use to flash recovery and kernels..
Also if you checkout HipKat's guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1386911
he mentions having a folder system on your SD card that you save things like kernels, roms, utilities. And others. I have my among ra saved in there..makes it a lot easier finding stuff..

Rooting/H-boot

So when I first tried to root my phone and push pdm15.zip I think it was called? (I'm assuming that was the method to downgrade and root? I have bad memory...) It failed while being in H-boot. But if I go into H-boot. It still tries to install the file... how do I keep it from doing that? I don't want it to mess something up if one day it decides to install.

So it "installs" on your phone, but its not on your SD? Then take the battery cover off, push the SD Card button to make it non mounted, then hboot should have no problems.

You're saying HBOOT finds some file that doesn't exist on your SD card.
Well, I say this doesn't happen. If HBOOT finds it - look good for the file and you'll find it too.
Yeah I can't find the file for some reason. When I was trying to root I tried to push thru adb command prompt. It failed so I tried a different method and it worked but H boot keeps looking for it
Sent from my HTC MyTouch 4G using xda premium
Hmm, wait a second. What do you mean by "is still trying to install the file"? When you go to HBOOT, it asks you to "press VolUp for update or VolDown for cancel? Or you just see several green flashing lines "looking for PD....."?
If latter is the case - that's perfectly normal and that's how it should be, you don't need to worry.
