[Q] Market checker - Android Software Development

Hi,
I am looking for some help to create some kind of market checker.
The idea is quite simple, when I select an app from the market, before buying it or downloading it, I want to check my Gmail account to see if the app is already here.
What is the point?
I got alot of app on my gmail account, and i'm tired of searching over thousands mails to check if i already uploaded this app on my account.
So if there is already an app that can do that, or something a can modify/create, it would be helpful.
Thanks anyway.

I'm not exactly sure if I follow you, but appbrain keeps you in-sync with the market:

Another good alternative to appbrain.com is androidzoom.com.
You can create an account and track your apps. If you developed some applications you can also add more screenshots\video in the description of your apps.

The app would only show in your Gmail IF you purchased it via Google Checkout.
Launch the Market app, and click on Downloads. It shows you the Purchased apps. Same thing, aren't they?
They should.
I created a filtering system with labels in my Gmail for "checkout.google.com".
All my (70+) purchases are archived and labelled.

Paid apps on new Gmail account

I've searched a few times and can't really find much on this, but I'm about to root my G1 (the T-Mobile version) and that means fully wiping it. I've got a few apps including open home and SNesoid on there that are paid for and linked to a gmail account I'm wanting to get rid of. When I reinstall everything on the phone I want to use a fresh gmail account with a new user name but I'm not sure how I would get those paid apps transferred to that account. Anyone know of a way to do this?

Well there is no way you can get them from the market back because thats all linked to your account and with a new account you would have to buy them again. Make backups of all your apk's and for the protected ones pull them using adb.
If I am correct, all you have to do is "relink your market account to your "credit card" info and it should be there. :]
OK perfect. I will probably do both just to be safe. Thanks a lot.
There seems to be a method detailed in the thread here:

Technically the credit card is on your google checkout account, not your gmail account. And as long as you've paid for an app (and not refunded it) you should be able to get updates for it on that google account as long as the developer provides them.
ok thanks for that but would i still get the app updates if i cancel my google checkout account?

It's likely that when you attempt to redownload an app you had previously purchased but uninstalled that the market backend parses your google checkout account for a record of having purchased an app. Since there's no way currently to remove checkout from a Google account, there's probably no way you could get into a situation where your checkout history became unaccessible for the market backend.
Of course until someone has any actual experience in this matter, all I wrote above is just an educated guess.
I just flashed a new ROM and configurated it with my Google Apps Account.
Then I went to Market and searched for a app I had bought with my normal Google Account which is connected to Checkout.
Market asked me for a gmail Account because the Apps account does not work for buying at the Market and I entered the GMail account informations and still had to buy the app I still have bought before?!
How can I tell Market to show me the apps I still have bought? And yes, I bought it with the same credit card, I did not make any change at checkout
I would contact the developer of said app and explain the situation and provide your info and see if he will honor it. I don't see where a dev would have a problem sending you an apk providing you proved that you purchased it.
got it with with Tutorial:

Thanx @all

I can't find GMail in the market?

Is there somewhere else I can get it?
Just search XDA?

When I try that with AppMonster, I get "Parse Error: There is a priblem parsing the package".
Can you see GMail in the market?
The GMail from the Market is only available for devices with 2.2+. There's a reason why you can't see it in the Market.

will it run on the X10 on 2.1? Its supposed to be froyo only right?
I have 2.3.3 and still no gmail... It's a magic.
Ah, seems as if Celcom (my current provider) is the problem. The Android Market website only lets me find GMail when I'm viewing all apps by Google (some can be seen), YouTube can't be installed, GMail neither. What the...? Some others too, I fail to see a pattern there (ROM Manager is amongst the list of banned apps too... but why GMail?).

Try installing market enabler to fake a different provider.

Facebook Messenger for Android

New standalone messenger from Facebook. It's the old 'Beluga' app, redone nicely. Caveat for me though. Galaxy S2 with KG5. It won't let me install it.

Nice, APK worked perfectly on my Inspire 4G!!
I'm a bit confused as to why they didn't integrate this with the main app. The main app has chat builtin too but it's a bit cumbersome to use. And god knows why it's incompatible with out phones.
Does it have group chat? And my problem with the app is that chat and messages are separate even though they are integrated in the site itself
thanks for the apk dude!
Many thanks why isn't this on the market?
My bad it is on the market, when i saw you guys requesting apk, i assumed it wasn't on market. Nice find, been looking for this for a while, the ability to send a message from my phone didn't think it was possible, i guess I never looked hard enough.
For those who dont have this install MarketEnabler and set it to US, then download it from the Market.
This one works for the Chat portion which is iffy on the official App. I dont get why they dont just integrate it like on the site though
This one is not available in india

It has Group Messaging. Which is the same but from a Messaging instead of Chat perspective. This is a Messaging not Chat app.
How the main Facebook app doesn't merge Messages/Chat is really annoying. This is how it used to be on Facebook.com, it must be at least a year ago but they've never bothered to update the app. I get Message notifications for people trying to Chat but as the app doesn't understand the merge, they never come through.
It's miles better than the Message section in the main app and properly supports Facebook Messages/Chat threading, whereby both appear in Messages.
I've turned off Message notifications in the main app. There's no point getting two notifications for each message.
p.s - Some messages are missing. I open a friend and some of the messages that appear on Facebook.com aren't there in the app.

Working for me, thanks a lot!
is just your facebook inbox with the added group message...
no chat or anything..
works when you have the massage notification and dont want to visit the mobile site all the time..
maybe they release this app because the message section on the regular facebook app is not working properly..

I imagine so but why not integrate it? The one in the main app is broke and this should replace it. It's pretty slick.

K9 email apk

Hi, I am looking for a K9 email client apk that works with android 2.1 on the NST. The oldest I found needed Android 4+....
Anyone can point me to a working and safe link?
Thanks!

According to the K-9 Mail GitHub, the attached version should run on 2.1 (I haven't tried it).
Thanks, unfortunately I get an error "There is a problem parsing the package"....

Rats.
Google is your friend. Search for the app with a version number that (according to the Wiki) should run on 2.1
Of course, that's what I did, but you might have more luck. Or (hopefully) someone who is using it will see this thread. There are a number of old threads with app packages attached. A copy might be in one of them. I remember people touting it long ago.
Edit: a search of the forum turned up no old copies of the app for me, but I did run across a post complaining about the wake-lock in K9 and Gmail. If you're not wedded to K9, I use a very simple email app which does not skulk in the background waiting for a connection. That means you have to manually check mail. You might want to take a look at it.

YEs, that email client is working (the email.apk one). I had to set the google account to accept sign-ins from "less-secure" apps though; Also, hotmail does not seem to be working, but at least gmail does.... Thanks!

OK, so never say "never". The attached K9 apk file installs on my NST and displays at least the first page I figure that's worth looking at. BTW, on that first page it states that it does not work with Hotmail....
Anyway, give it a whirl.

Thanks!!!
I found an old apk for hotmail and that seems to work (even imports contacts from hotmail)...so I should be all set (re gmail + hotmail)....
Browser (Opera), email (K9 and hotmail), RSS (greader), news (BBC, Engadget,...); readers (kindle; have not tried Google books app yet). a few games (Chess Pro, Landrule, ...), and a few useful utilities (Button Savior, Mathsapp calculator, ...) and the Go Launcher.
Also was a lot of work (finding apk that still work under Android 2.1)....I will probably look into alternative e-readers later this year (such as inkBook Prime and Co)....

Yep, kind of an interesting scavenger hunt at times. There are two packages of apps which might contain something you'd like to try in this thread.

how to get rid of this junk on calendar?

Anybody know how to get rid of this crap on calendar ? I've looked, but can't find solutions. I'm tired of the notifications. I posted picture below. Thanks
Just uninstall the crappy app that causes it.

I wish it was that easy. I've diabled the stock calendar and installed a different one and same results. I've had this problem since I was on G5. I have no idea to what's causing this.
Not the calendar app causes this but a other app with some add/spyware in it.

Like I said its not that easy. I have done a factory reset and get same results. I did not download anything at all
Well, check permissions on all your apps, and block all the ones that shouldn't have calendar access.
Then check Facebook and block that calendar access, because that seems something that would pop up in Facebook and no one would check.
Finally, it's likely that all that stuff has been synced to your actual account, so you're going to have to delete all those entries.
If you use a Gmail account you can do it from Google calendar online, and if you use something else, you'll be able to do it from that calendar.

Thank you my friend . I did not know you could do that. It took some doing, but its all gone now.
Glad to have helped. Be careful stuff like that doesn't get synced to your account again.
Edit: good to see it's solved
