Update GoogleMaps

Just wondering what happens if I update GoogleMaps. Do the originel rom files get overwriten or does it work in any other way? Hopefully someone already did an attempt?
i upgraded to version 3.0.1.6 from the existing ROM.. works well.. Is this version the latest? have'nt checked lately.
Downloading the CAB, extracting the content with WinCE CAB Manager and overwriting the exsiting ones in your Rhodium should do the job!
So it won't result in less memory? The original files will be overwritten?
If you're replacing the files in "Program Files\GoogleMaps" you won't loose any space but you're not gaining any additional space, too! Only an updated Googlemaps app is what you can get!
By the way: you can delete any non-used language dll, too!
there seems to be gmaps 3.2, rhodium's zoom works in it. And there is also layers added.
Just downloaded & installed Google Map 3.2.0 and it's super accurate and super fast!
Highly recommend everyone to upgrade.
where are you downloading from? I can only find older versions at m.google.co.uk/maps

Thank you for this, i tried the M.google.
com/maps link and it kept saying there is no version for my device
I thought GoogleMaps for WinMO does NOT include navigation like Live Search does. Am I wrong?
google maps
updating maps will over write old version but won't change at ROM level, meaning if you hard reset the old maps will come back.
when I go to the link on google that takes me to m.google.com/maps it gives me '404 error'. Anyone else seeing this? Does someone have the most recent maps .cab they can post here?

I got it from US market
See attached file. But it is in ZIP format. No idea how to install it.
Maybe you can use MarketEnabler, choose T-Mobile-US and then you can install it from Android market.
Or you get it from here with a barcode scanner
thanks for info.

Well thanks for the upload. but i installed it before you uploaded the apk.
Last night i installed the app "My Market" which enables you to download the apps from other regions. I don't know how it works but that things doesn't require root phone. Now i can access the any region market.
And Thanks a lot you took time to find out this app for me. Really appreciated.

Removing Ads!

Ads can be removed on Android build by updating the hosts files inside Android/root/system/etc.
DarkStone had a made a custom hosts file (hosts.zip) but his thread is currently closed:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870518
...and the download link from www.gamesquare.co.uk/hosts.zip is not working. Does anyone have an alternate download location or a copy of this file than can be shared? Thanks a lot
Link is working fine - just don't click it, but copy-paste into new tab/window (as mentioned in original thread...)

i use this very great free app
I also used AdFree for a while & it worked great. A few recent builds had issues with it for some reason though. Just installed it on Darkstone's SuperRam build and it's working fine so far.

Hey , are you still unable to download the app ? I am the developer and i feel a bit concerned ?

Get Google Assistant working on your Device.

If you guys want to try the latest feature of Android 7.1 I.e. The google assistant on your One plus Device so well now you Can.
Prerequisites:- Your phone running android 7.0
Latest google app 6.6.x.x (worked for me.)
Build.prop editor.(better use es FM)
Procedure: 1.Open Es FM
2.Grant all the root permissions and note that the system is set on r/w mode.
3.Go to root.
4.Open System----->Build.prop
5.Edit ro.product.model=Pixel XL and add the line below the model one.
ro.opa.eligible_device=true
(SEE ATTACHMENTS IF CONFUSING)
You r good to go now...Just go and install the latest google app from apk mirror and then clear the data of google app once...Reboot your device.
And voila you now have google assistant on your device.
Thanks to senior member @xda brianelv for this trick.
Thanks man! It's working great
Everything of Google Assistant works fine but...
I can't use the "OK GOOGLE", it doesnt store the voice and asks me every time to say " OK GGOGLE" thrice. Any way to fix it? I am on AICP Nougat ROM . Do anyone have the same problem? If no , tell me. Thanks!

isnt it better to use Pixel instead of Pixel XL as Pixel has the same resolution and wont have any issues with PlayStore due resolution?
I've tried the settings as per instructions, but can't seem to get Google Assistant to appear. Wondering if i missed out any steps. Is there any particular sequence. Like Google App must be 6.6 upon editing Build.prop?

Thanks for trying to help, I did change that to end of the line.. But no avail
Even after the changes in build.prop the assistant was not working. So i just made the google app into a system app and now it works. "OK Google" detection still doesn't work though i wonder whne it will be fixed
