This is really getting annoying. Any MP3/Vide files which I transfer through USB Mass Storage are not detected when it goes "Scanning for Media". It works through Kies and Webharing Wifi Transfer app...until I reboot the phone, then its detected in the music player anymore.
If I use the file browser or astro i can play it through them, but that's not really convenient is it.
Everything works fine if I transfer it through an external SD card. I only have a 2gb one though so it really doesn't cut it.

I previously had a Moto Droid and was able to connect it to my USB port in my car and play media "Music" from the sdcard. Now with my Incredible it tell me media cannot be played or read. I believe this is because of the dual mounting when connected it tries to mount two storages at once. Anyone else having this problem or maybe and solutions to fix this???

mine kind of did the same thing, I put my songs on the internal memory and my pioneer wouldn't find the songs, I had to put all my music on the micro sd card and it worked fine after that. not sure if that would work for you or not but it worked for me, so if you haven't tried that yet it is worth a shot.
i have actually tried both and still no luck. I even tried removing SDcard and had Music on internal storage only and still a no go. But it seems to read the sdcard momentarily and seconds after it says media cannot be played.
All my media is on the sd card. No problems with playing via USB/AUX connections in my vehicle...
finally figured it out. for some reason I had to give my friend my sdcard and had him format it in his nexus one. then put music back on it and this time it was able to read the media. finally

Well phone was working spot on before but now when i plug my phone into my computer the external sd storage does not come up so i can't move things direct to the external sd card from my computer. but the phone knows it there cause its in "my files" application and its where my music is stored and it plays the music fine. but the external sd card doesn't come up as a directory in kies or normal windows file organiser.. its really strange. any ideas apart from a flash? it was working but then i installed that stop media scanner thing (deleted it now after restarting the media scanning) but since then this has happened. I mean its now the end of the world since the phone sees it and can use it and i can transfer from my phone to my sd card but its just weird that it no longer comes up when connected to pc.
Cheers if you read that and if you can help that would be awesome!
make sure USB Debuging is enabled
then after connect to PC or MAC
you have to select from drop down tab Mount
I've finally got my 32GB class 10 sdcard a few days ago and immediately formatted it, etc etc.
I've been used to using my android phone(s) as a mass storage device when connecting to my laptop/computers before, but now, with the S3, I notice its not technically a mass storage device, but MTP.
My problem is, after transferring over some of my movies in HD, mostly mp4 formats, I can't seem to do so anymore with the other movies I want to transfer. I've gotten 6 movies; which is a total of 11gb worth... But everytime I try to transfer another movie file, I get an error message saying MTP application has stopped working / responding [WAIT] or [CLOSE].
Does anyone know what could be the problem? Is there other ways of transferring my movies into my sd card? I've tried a card reader, but it seems that it just shows up as a dead file in my card after placing in my phone.
Did you buy it off Ebay? Very well possible you have a counterfeit card if so.

It's not the card. I'm able to transfer my high res photos into my phone (4,xxx X 3,xxx res photos) no problem, as well as other files. It's the fact that if the file is larger than, say, 600-900MB, MTP goes wacky and ends up not responding, thus, not being able to transfer.
Doing some research and I read how mass storage usb has been removed. I was unaware of this and am trying to transfer music files from my computer to my phone. Is there anyway I can accomplish this; besides removing my SD card and putting it in my old galaxy 1 which had mass storage? Also, how are people able to transfer all their pictures and vids from phone to pc?

I don't know about the problem with MTP crashing on you but for your problem with dead files showing up on your phone, myself and another user here had the same problem and it was solved by formatting the card to FAT32.
So I've been trying to transfer music from both iTunes (using Wondershare and iExplorer) and regular drag and drop in Windows Explorer. I'm not sure as to why this keeps happening so I'm reaching out to y'all.
My phone won't recognize a lot of the music that's transferred both internally to the phone's storage or externally to the memory card. Then sometimes when I do transfer, some files work, some files don't. I've tried reformatting the SD card, but I'm not so sure if that's the only issue. I never had a problem transferring music with the Galaxy S3 (phone connected via USB, and then drag and drop to external SD card). Can anyone please help!
Hi. Recently bought grand 2. I have few sings in my external SD card. These sings are not detected by any of the music player's. I tried many players but none if them detect them. When I move these sings to internal storage then they get detected by all the music player's. Why is this?? How to solve it?
Edit: not only music none of the contents in the SD card are being detected, neither videos nor picture's. I an only able to move data of apps into sd card.
