[Q] Android build with reliable compass... - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Greetings to everyone.
Hail to the super developers who have given us the impossible!
Just a quick question. Is there a build with an accurate compass? Preferably with Sense UI.
Thank you very much!

wrong section sir.

post here

Even if I get a warn for this post but... seriously?! compass? I think it's the only thing I've used once in 8 moths of having HD2. I could understand something else like a radio function for all builds not just Sense one, less battery drainage but I think a compass functionality request is a bit weird, to say the least.

compass is good for GPS and skymap. as well as many technical apps. including the magnetometer.

Thread moved to General.

The compass is also used for the so called "augmented reality" apps.

Rather use a US$2 made in china compass with a magnetic needle. Most accurate lol..

The few compass apps I've tried work fine, at least as "accurate" as WinMo version (which wasn't really that accurate ).

Try this, the only build I found with accurate compass yet: forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773790 . Use V1 or V1.5 build in the forum for accurate compass. The latest build does not support compass.

[APP] G-Shotgun (Release: April 21 ...)

Hey folks!
Me and Mr. Nick are currently working on the G-Shotgun app, which is the wm equivalent to the iPhone app "Shotgun Free".
All credit for programming goes to Mr. Nick, many thanks!
I'm very happy to announce that our problem is solved and G-shotgun will be released today!
Suggestions about the graphics or future functions are still more than welcome! The app doesn't have to be exactly like the iPhone version does it?
.
there's something similar on pccgeeks (last post on page 2), but it's not so good (ugly graphics and some work to do on sensor as well). But maybe you can cohoperate with mike to release a good app

Thanks guys, but ...
Would not call the graphics ugly ... squished up a bit, but not ugly - It is a real shotgun! taken from Google images. :S - It was however the only one I could find that looked good on the small screen.
By all means if there is a better graphic, including animated pump action, I will use it and re-release!
And .. this was my first sensor app, so the sensor code was twitchy. I have since worked out better code and when I get time (the next week or so) I will re-code and release the new version.
Mike.
yes mike, you're right: with "ugly" i meant the image is not displayed as it should. That's why, seeing Shoddy shout, i thought you can work together to release a great app

sounds good to me.
I have a couple of questions though..
is your app currently working as the "Shotgun Free" app? if not, could you add the features from shotgun free to your code? Because my graphics are almost (it's supposed to) the same as that app.
and.. would you mind changing the name to "G-Shotgun"? I think it sounds better than "Virtual Shotgun" or what it is you call it.
guys, i hope you'll consider also a wvga version for us poor HD users

HD2 Android - Compass Problem

Hi guys,
I'm expecting to buy a new smartphone this week. My doubts are between Xperia X10, HTC Desire or the HTC HD2.
I really would like to have Android just because the Google Sky Map application is just amazing and I want it!
I know that the Sky Map works on HD2 but, because the digital compass problem, not very well...
Do You think that this compass problem will be solved soon or is this a problem with no solution?

Brah, we have a subforum dedicated just for Android. I'm sure it'll be fixed eventually.

Best android Rom

Hello, could anyone refer me best version of android on HD2 ?
I add that ive got rom 3.14
We will if you can tell us what the "best" car or bike is!
By the way , whatever answer you give will be "subjective" which is the reason why nobody can/will answer you with a definitive answer here.
This type of silly question is frowned upon here so I suggest you do what we all do/did and start doing some reading, learn something and come to your own conclusion.

+1!
to add, test it yourself.
And there are no Android ROMS. Only builds.
Best Car? Absolutely My Mercedes-Benz W211
About bike.. Its Honda in my opinion.
Im looking for build, which is fast, dont have errors and dont drain battery so badly..
Also would be nice if it looks nice.
if you want sense.... they all suck
I always reccomend the matest biffmod then throw a new launcher on it
try
naaaahh BMW 1 Series White + Black wheels.. LOVE IT!
bikes sucks.. lol
the Amazing thing about android is that you can try them on SD card.. so try as many as you can, it only takes half a minute to switch.
look for the newest
few builds that I personally consider good.. best doesn't exists (apart for WinMO)

you're missing the point.
I wish there was an answer to your question, but really there isn't. everyone would be using such a build!
for e.g. the build I'm using works great for me (best battery life so far, v stable) but if you read the thread you'll see it doesn't work so well for others.
I also recently tried a "hyped" build whilst was good, I wasn't getting the same performance as others.
there's just too many variables.
like others have said... you need to try a few then decide for yourself.
in a few weeks, after you've tried a few, you'll see why people tend not to answer this type of question.
all the best
As said by other member, there really isn't any "best build." It's all about the user really. It's like phones, there isn't any "best smartphone". There isn't because everyone has different desires, some want it to just work, others wanna play around with it, etc. So all in all, you have to test them out yourself to get the "best results".
I do recommend JDMS 1.6 for it being fast and stable, but for eye candy i guess mdeejay froyoHD, but it might be laggy for you.

EXACTLY, its an "opinion" it doesnt mean its the "best", its a subjective "opinion".
ALL builds have problems/issues in some areas, there is no one build that is perfect, all require some sort of after tweak or kernel upgrade etc etc.
Your best option is to take some time to read forum instead of trying to jump straight in.
Guys first off there is no need to take the piss, as par say, he just asked a question.
The following WM6.5 and Droid Builds work really well for me, just make sure you re-format the sd card on the WM rom and also change the screen time-out to never before booting from the droid folder. The ROM and Build links are below:
WINMO ROM:

DROID BUILD:

Hope you find it as good as I have.

Well rotation in new google maps now work, GPS fix seems to be faster. However it looks that now market is not showing all applications - could anybody check this? For example if market shows you the Doodle game?
Gps didnt work for me in previous builds. Now i get a fix quite fast and it is very accurate. Also camera now works for me...
Checked market i can see doodlejump
Does someone using this build have colored camera view? I still can only use 3MP en de camera view is black and white (but it does make colored photos)

[Q] Gingerbread GPS issues... why?

Hi Guys,
Firstly let me make it clear, I am no dev, just a 'ROM dabbler' if you will. I have minor programming experience but a good understanding of what goes into custom ROM development and more than appreciate the efforts by devs that allow me to demonstrate why my HD2 is (in the words of Mr Sheen) BI-WINNING.
I am using HyperDroid-CM7-v2.0.1-GregariousGreyhound ROM and love it, apart from the GPS issue. I rarely use GPS but knowing my phone isn't working perfectly like it did with Froyo, WM6.5 and WP7 (well almost) gets to me.
1.) In a nutshell... Why is Cyanogen7 released with no working GPS when people seemingly have fixes for it and previous versions of Cyanogen had GPS?
2.) cyanogenmod.com is so clean and official like I feel it should be the most stable Gingerbread ROM available but this GPS issue has put doubts in my head. Are the ROM releases with GPS fixes one step ahead?
Please unleash your knowledge and opinions on me.....
Cheers

yeah but...
Thanks for the link guys, I now have GPS working perfectly!
My question still stands though. Why do good ROMS like Cyanogen7 not get shipped with the GPS fix?
hahaha i dont know, gps working fine with me some times slow, but still working ... we hope they make the perfect rom some day haha
It's not a CM7 issue, it's the lack of agps support that was the problem. Tytung GPS Libraries obviously correct that issue and there you have working GPS

Ok, bare with me.... so the GPS libs are part of the radio and not the rom so we are talking about modding the radio. Is that correct?
