USB Connection Sharing Broken - Wildfire General

Hey everybody.
Since updating to the OTA 1.25.405 update, USB internet connection sharing seems to be broken. It used to work before the update.
Phone gets registered as a USB 3G modem
Connecting works, getting an IP (192.168.100.100) works.
... but the default gateway (192.168.100.254) is unreachable when using the connection, so actually retrieving data is not possible.
I'm running the stock HTC Rom on a rooted wildfire - see attached file for software details.
Is anyone else experiencing this behavior?

Have you tried on several OS yet ?
It works for me, as we figured out on IRC yesterday, but not 100% sure of my ROM. Systeminfo shows Puzzle ROM but i am sure i used the RUU from shipped-rom then a backup of my data.

Yep, same behaviour on several OS'es. Device registers fine, but default gateway does not respond.

This happened to me after an OTA upgrade
I am doing a factory reset tonight and will post the result if it makes things work again (albeit losing my data)

The same problem with USB connection sharing
http://cleanimport.xda/index.php?threads/802404/ - Here I describe exactly the same problem I also have a rooted (unrevoked) wildfire with the original rom with update 1.
What I discovered about it is that the problem does not exist until first restart after a hard reset (factory defaults). I am in the Polish gsm provider Play.
Please help us as I believe there is more of us.

THe problem existed in 1.25.405.1 ROM . It does not exist after installing the 1.37.405.1 to which I give link above. It is a later version of original ROM. It includes Polish, Romanian, English and STH cyrylic alphabet.
I installed it from an WinXP machine with drivers from the SD card. I encountered problems trying to do it from Win7 originally.
Greetz!
EDIT: Though I experienced some problems with accessing the app market after flashing 1.37.405.1.

same problem here
the same story, after update to 1.25.405.1 sharing stopped working
funny - among many failed attempts to connect, one time was successful!

Activesync: Syncronization cannot be completed successfully.

Ok now before you guys say search the forum, I have and haven't found an answer. I have a 8125 and i'm using activesync 4.1, never had a problem until last week and i haven't been able to resolve it. iv'e searched the net, the board...i ran all the troubleshooting, uninstalled and reinstalled and still no luck. i turned off the antivirus and firewall (it was working fine with them before) and i still get this message that "Syncronization cannot be completed successfully. I even upgraded to activesync 4.2 and nada. any help would greatly be appreciated because i'm ready to throw my computer out the window. Is there an alternative software? will restoring my phone back to it's original state work?
The same thing happened to me two days ago. Everything was working fine, has since I installed them bam...can not sync...have uninstalled, reinstalled tried the new beta nothing will work!!!
Use to be able to sync no problem even exchange would sync while usb connected nothing nada zip...am not sure where to go from here.
With the new beta, even ran the troubleshooter program and sent the log to MS to see if they could tell me how to fix..will see if I hear from them.
Try soft reset and reboot your computer.
[quote="AnthonyArena" ]Try soft reset and reboot your computer.[/quote]
Yep had already done that. But the issue is still there.
I upgraded to the latest activesync rev and the same thing happened. I clicked on the troubleshooter under help and it ran some connectivity tests. It came back with some fixes, I'm using Mcaffe firewall and I just followed the instructions, rebooted and all was fine. I wished I'd written down the process better but you should be able to duplicate & it'll be specific to your system anyway.
anybody have an answer? are there any alternatives?
I am now having this issue with my phone as well. I have also been searching for about 3 days thoughout the internet and these forums and no go.
As above, everything worked fine with my MDA sync to pc via USB using activesync 4.1. Upgraded to 4.2 still had no problems. Then out of nowhere it just doesn't work and gives the same above mentioned error. A difference of like 5 hours between the sync that worked and from this starting. I have done all the usual, uninstall, reinstall, reboot, soft reset, basically all I am down to hard reset (and I would really rather not if I don't have to). Any help would really be appreciated.
T-Mobile MDA Wizard 200
ROM is the 2.26 update from T-Mobile.
Thanks again.
I was having the same problem, so I started tooling around the menus.
1. Go to Settings - Connections - USB to PC and make sure that "Enable advanced network functionality" is checked off.
2. Go to Settings - Connections - Network Cards and select "Remote-NDIS Host" and hit the "Use server-assigned IP address" radio box.
This solved the problem for me. I am using
ROM version: 2.24.10.1 WWE, ExtROM version: 2.25.11.102.
Hope this helps.

Problem while connecting windows marketplace via HD mini

Hi
I have acquired HTC HD mini recently. I upgraded its ROM to new version 1.36.720.X. But still I am not able to connect Windows Marketplace via my mobile. My GPRS connection is set correctly as I am able to connect Facebook and My Phone successfully. I am facing issue with Windows Live and Marketplace.
I always get error while trying to connect Market place that
"There may be a problem with the Marketservice now. Check your internet connection and try again later."
Can anybody provide me solution for this.
Registry value for HKLM\Systems\Versions\Aku is .5.3.3 (Which is due to latest OS version came with ROM) . Hence that earlier fix of changing value of Aku is not workable though I tried it.
I think that there are many unfortunates like me who have faced same problem.
Thanks in advance for help.
regards,
Pranit
me too having the same prob....am from india...
Still no reply .. No solution from anyone !!! Friends i am dying to get solution..

Solution Wifi Android 2.2 Schlunds

I have no permissions to publish to HD Mini ROM Development, published the solution here.
I have the solution to put wifi in Android 2.2 of Schlunds, the problem is in the process "htcUPCTLoader.exe" not allowed to continue with the process.
The assignment of IP must be static, do not get the IP automatically
Here I leave kernel with the new install
TESTED ONLY WITH ANDROID 2.2 Schlunds
Sorry for my bad English
hey thanks man
maybe u will find a fix for derefas sd card fix too?
Does not work for me. The zImage and Module are exactly the same files I use.
The Problem ist not the htcUPCTLoader.exe process.
tzacapaca send me his working 2.2. image and it still dont work for me.
The reason must be something else...
Perhaps bootloader or startup.txt?

Or the Windows Mobile rom used?
After trying the Android images, I had a lot of GPS issues under WinMo (not working anymore). At the end it was fixed, but could it be that the WinMo roms can be of influence on Android?

I start to believe is this...i'm gonna use use Stock ROM and i will keep you posted if it will be any changes
nsourm has a dualbootloader in his ROM
Maybe its better to boot Android not from "within" WinMo.
Can someone test that?

In my case the prob was "htcUPCTLoader.exe" it was not allowing deamon to start..so i had to kill it and then run the run.bat file....
Can u try it this way..??..connecting the Mini with pc..running run.bat...after that killing htcUPCTLoader.exe process in task manager..and then running run.bat file again..??.... it might work....if not..then there's no harm done
I dont need to try. The kernel module file (*.ko) in the image is updated. So the problem (at least for me) is not adb push. must be something different.
Codiak, your not alone. I am also not able to turn WiFi on. Do you get Error when you go to the settings to turn it on? It's like its not picking up the WiFi on the mobile.
The only thing I changed was adding in the run.bat
Code:
taskkill / F / IM htcUPCTLoader.exe
On beginning of everything, to finish the process before starting the adb. I haven't touched anything of the files zImage and adb.exe

This is my system (android 2.2) running Wifi.

Its the same behavior as the fixed module was not installed.
If you tab Wifi, it just grays out and do nothing. No error message.
See, im on the standard ROM. And no matter what I try, I get the same.
Ok, so it not seem to be WiMo ROM related. I use a custom one.
So my last idea is the bootloader (haret)...
Okay everybody, I noticed something:
I could patch the bcm4329.ko file, after android booted. Now you have to restart android in order to enable wlan. Often it happend to me, that an error in the android wifi settings showed up. So I went back to windows mobile and checked my wifi setting there.
As I've also encountered the GPS problem, where one had to switch GPS on and off again in android to make it work in windows again I also tried it with wlan. Before I run haret, I switched off wlan in windows. Now android was able to initialize and start wlan.
Also it was not possible for me to enable wifi, if the usb cable was still connected to the phone before the first successful operation of wlan. Afterwards it surprisingly also worked with a connected cable. Since I'm at work now, I can not test wlan itself, as it is only possible to connect via DCHP here. This evening I'll try to do so with a static IP.
By the way, this dynamic vs. static IP thing is a common problem in froyo. You'll find a lot of discussions in the internet for other devices like samsung galaxy and so on.

It worked, mine no longer displays as error. But I dont have any WiFi's to connect to as im also at work. But it looks much more promising.
Just we need to start looking into getting the battery reconised by Android, having to go into Windows to charge my phone.

Unfortunately there wasn't any precise error message. As you said it only was greyed out with "Fehler" (error) written below the wlan switch. It's strange that there still isn't any solution working for everyone.
For me, no "Fehler" came up. Just grayed out. Same behavior like I never applied the patched module. But i can see the patched .ko file in the phone
I´m using tzacapaca patched ext2 file that works for him...

[Q] Lost internet connection on laptop after upgrading Rom according to TUT

Hi,
I'm new hereand this is my first post.
I bought me a HTC Touch HD and it had it's original ROM so I wanted to upgrade it. I read the TUT from this site but got an error message when I executed the HSPLWrapper_Blackstone_156Olinex.exe. Then I tried tu update the official Rom from the HTC site (1.56.404.1). This was OK. Then I tried again the Olinex and it seemed ok but it took just a few seconds to complete the update! I did it again and it was exactly the same: Updated within seconds. The only differece is when it boots, the D shows 1.56.00.00 ...
But after this action my laptop which I used to do all these, lost it's internet connection!!! I can receive mails but can't send them and can't connect to any website. I normally use a wifi connection and when I tried the LAN connection it is the same: No internet connection!?!
My modem is working because I can connect to the internet via wifi with my touch HD and my desktop.
I'm sure I didn't change any settings on my laptop. However I installed activesync and Windows Zune. But as soon as I saw that zune was downloading a bunch of **** I decided to uninstall this. The same thing I did with activesync4.5.
Then I started to search the internet but couldn't find anything like this. Then I started rereading all kind of manuals from this forum and then I realised I didn't install de .net software but in Softwar I can see there is .net framework3.5 SPI on my XP SP3 laptop. I'm not shure if that is what is wrong?
I also have to mention that I don't have the official CD's for the Touch HD. So I don't know if you need to install any usb drivers for the device in XP. I got sometimes error messages when connecting the HD with usb to the laptop like unknown usb device or this device can use a faster usb connection (something like that).
I'm so frustrated now! I'm afraid I have to reinstall XP because I can't find out why I lost my internet connection on my laptop?
Is there anybody out there? who can help me with this wierd problem?
Regards,
Carlo

[Q] I can't access the internet via Data Connection

Hi All,
I have recently installed the DFT ROM om my HD2, I want to sync my contacts using my Windows Live account.
I got this message every time I tried to access the network data connection:
"can't connect
We're having a problem connecting to windows live. make sure you have good reception. if you do, the problem may be on the other end. wait a little while and try again"
and if I tried to access gmail:
"Not updated We're having a problem connecting to m.google.com. try again later.
Error Code: 80072FA8"
I tried both data connection and 3G connection.
does this ROM have such problems? what is the best ROM to install instead of my current ROM?
All the other roms are directly based off the original DFT rom. Only major difference would be the chevron is built in. Was fantastic for me since I had all sort of connect problems with chevron. I would use a rom that has that built in.
As far as data goes you would probably have to enter your apn. I had to. Or an easier way would be to load a rom that had chevron built in and download HTC Connection Setup from the market or sideload it and that should straighten that out.
