[Q] Debrand Xperia X10 - XPERIA X10 General

My Xperia specifications are as follows:
X10i
UK
T-Mobile
However, I use this mobile in Brazil, where I live.
What are the advantages of debranding my phone?
To which firmware would you recommend me to?

there are tons of guides with UK unbranded fw
the advantege is that you'd get the latest se fw w/o waiting for your carrier
026 or 029 are the latest as far as i know

By flashing you can remove the bugs, update to latest firmware, get rid of the annoying provider logos and also change language to Portuguese

So it would be best to use a UK generic firmware...
Any idea where I can get this 029 version? I googled it but couldn't find it...

I can provide you the debranding service , contact me by PM.

Well I tried debranding my phone to the Latin American Generic R2BA026 firmware... for a good 3 hours... ended up with that exclamation mark at one point. But in the end I just gave up. I'm still stuck with Rogers
Edit: If someone's willing to help me flash pls pm me

I've debranded in the past & wanted to switch to Latin America Generic but it always fails. The only thing that's changed from the last time I did it was SE updated their software.

Ferraripassion, it would be great help if you can tell us how to debrand our handset. I followed everything in the debranding guide, still it says 'Installation Failed' after replacing the files in db folder. Please help, thanks in advance.

Follow steps 1-5 HERE to debrand (UK generic FW), then use SEUS to update to 026.

Thanks for replying XperiaX10iUser, I have tried this too but SEUS says that I already have the latest available software even if I am at R1FA016.
I have followed the other guide too and it keeps me stuck at R2BA024 and SEUS doesn't show any new available FW.
Does this mean that after debranding to other FW, I can not update my handset using SEUS?
Any help will be appreciated.

Try running PC Companion then, and if it doesn't show the update, try the repair method as some have said that has worked too.

ok, sorry if this is a bit of a n00b question. Am I right in thinking that if I debrand my X10 now, I'll get the 2.1 upgrade earlier as it won.t have to go through Vodafone first? I've gthered from snooping about the forums that it's not worth rooting yet as I'll probably lose root after the update, but what about debranding? The secret menu says generic on firmware but vodafone on the branding...

Update no longer current
Because of the new SEUS Update Service program update, the link above is no longer current. The current version is 2.10.5.11, while that link still believes the current version is 2.10.4.22. I tried installing version 2.10.4.22 but it updates to 2.10.5.11.
I have an X10a rebranded to X10i. Now i'm trying to go back to X10a and I cant due to the program update.
Can someone provide other methods of rebranding? I have tried the PC Companion 2.0 and no luck going back to X10a.

Try here m8: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=683793
the build.prop contains all the version information.
i am not sure, but if SE refers to build.prop on the phone to determine if update is available, then people can swap their build.prop with the one that they want to brand to and do a repair via seus..
just a thought though...

Helping re-installing original firmware

hi men, i followed the root guide till step 2 to upgrade my x10i to the 023. after 2 days i did SE released the original one, so it would be upgraded from 014 to 023 and without market problems. i tried restoring the original firmware doing backup but the "blob_fs" procedure isn't possible anymore since SEUS files have changed after update....so i'm in trouble!!
anyone can help me with this??
ty all for help
Have you tried Sony Ericsson PC Companion to repair the phone?
not yet, i didn't know... it's the software that the phone installs automatically when is plugged to the pc??
anyway i don't know if i was clear in quering, i wish install the ORGINAL FACTORY RELEASE of my firmware, like when i bought it, and it was 014, later with step 1-2 of rooting guide it should be a generic firmware, i can't be more clearer than this...

Sorry for steeling your thread, but i got a problem like yours. I do also wanna go back to the stock firmware, but when i try to repair it in pc companion, it just keeps reinstalling the R2BA020 SW. What am i doing wrong? When i install the R2BA020, i do the last part of the installation with help from SEUS, so would it help if i uninstall SEUS? Or any other solutions?

[Q] Hello All Need your help

Hi All,
I have a X10a from Rogers and i Rooted it to R2BA024 using the rooting steps in this forum. After that I connected to PC companion and SEUS both are saying that my phone is up to date. Below are my queries,
1. After I rooted my Phone Am I not eligible for updates?(Say for future 2.1)
2. Is there any generic unrooted firmware for X10a available?
3. Can I unroot the phone again back to Rogers firmware.
Request one and all in this forum to answer these queries. Sorry if it had been posted in some other thread. Looking forward for your update. Thanks in Advance.

THe problem is currently I have R2BA024 FW but i see that the latest is R2BA026. When i connect through SEUS and PC companion both r saying that I have latest software. When I clicked Repair i get an error saying that unable to download files. So was bit concerned. Do you have any info on why this could happen. Thanks in advance.
Just what I asked in the other forum. I am currantly at R2BA026, and my Rogers X10a reads X10i (Even if I followed each and every step correctly). Is there something wrong with X10i-X10a step? and I am not alone, there were many people reporting same thing.
I am very happy with R2BA026 but would flash with original Rogers FW if R2BA026 can't read my phone as X10a.
Please help!

[Q] Confused about debranding [SOLVED]

Hey folks, let me start by saying that I have searched and read threads on this subject, but alas I just did not understand them.
So please, if somone wouldn't mind answering my questions with simple answers, I'd really appreciate it.
Firstly, a while back I 'rooted' my phone with the 'Exploid One Click .apk Root (Latest v.1.08 30 Aug. 2010)' method and all was well.
However I ran the update service on my pc recently (looking for 2.1 DOH!) and it gave me an update...which left my phone unrooted but with the latest 'RBA026' build number. I panicked and just did the exploid root method again and restored my phone with titanium backup.
So my first question is, is the firmware I have now unbranded/generic or does the root effect the firmware?
If it is not unbranded/generic, which is the easiest method to achieve this?
And, lastly if I have an unbranded/generic firmware..can I still get the 2.1 update with SEUS? (if not how would I get it)
I understand this will probably frustrate some people as all the information is probably already contained in the forum..but like I said I just couldn't get my head round it.
I'd really appreciate any help that anyone could give.
Regards
TD
EDIT: BTW this is the info on my 'About Phone' screen:

We'll need to re-root obviously though.

Since the topic is already here.. I just wanna know if my phone is branded or not (didn't find a SINGLE topic explaining what means what)
So:
Model: x10i
Country: Central Europe 3
Brand: Customized CE3
IMO that shouldn't be branded, should it?
Are you on R2BA026? I would expect that to be generic yes.
I debranded mine some time back, this is what mine is showing

Grrr. I have had my ATT X10a rooted for a while, and SEUS/PC Companion/Update always says I have the latest firmware.
It's been 30 days for me, I want to put in generic X10a NAM firmware so I don't have to deal with any changes SE/ATT may have made to make it harder to root/debrand.
I've dealt with Davinci in the past to debrand my SE Java based phones, just never with an android phone. I've gone over the threads here, but 99% deal with X10i and X10a Rogers and X10a AT&T firmware seems to be a bit different and forced the SEUS update that prevents the substitute files exploit.
Even the substitute files exploit seems to require that you actually update date twice, once with the 'current' firmware that you got, and then again with the swapped two files.
The Rooting scheme that is often pointed to, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=717949 is confusing for X10a. I've downloaded the files mentioned, and the extra x10a files. But to me, the flash rom is in the X10i download and there is what looks like a partial flash in the step4cmd in the the fixes something and makes it a x10a? Is this correct? The only X10a/i difference is the 10K file?
I wish someone would rewrite the directions specifically for the "I" and "A" versions so there is no confusing language like, '#5 do Step 4' and there was only a single flash required. (I particularly find this funny since step 4 and 5 were eliminated for the "I" version.)
Whatever happened to the "update" file on the SD card method? There was a CRC error problem? I wish I could find a NAM rom that just had to wrapped/renamed to Update and put on the SD card. Reboot, wait a bit and you're gold.
yeah. i just did. i posted because i followed that guide, and now on 026. it's pretty easy. just make sure to look thru the troubleshooting threads listed in that post for help.

I have followed imugur's instructions as given in the first post but rather than changing my UK Generic version for the Nordic one (1234-8465) I went for the Global Generic (1232-9897)
I first tried the phone's own check for updates after rebooting but it found nothing, however, I then tried PC Companion and was immediately given the new software update (with a specific mention of multitouch support being added)
Going through the process now, PC Companion estimates a total time of 30 mins
Cheers,

If you got a X10a and flashed X10i firmware on it or vice versa, SEUS and PCC will not recognize your device.

Cheers,
Mik

hmmm thats interesting, have to look to switch it back to x10a
Thanks for the insight
And what's the point of that?
The biggest advantage of flashing is to give us a faster phone and most important dualtouch.
By doing that way you can't get either.
And more. I'm not sure about this but on every custom roms you must have 435 flashed so that dualtouch work. Not sure trough.

If you're rooted you can just change the CDA numbers back to a X10a device, then it will be recognized again.
Downloading
