I'm at work so unfortunately I don't have access to the forums and searching for help through the xda is too time consuming and I've already got customers on hold .
Anyway the problem is that xda keeps force closing on me after I post something it's ridiculous. It force closes then asks me to sign in again and when I input my credentials it just sits there"processing" to fix it I have to run my task manager, close the appp then open it again. Fortunately, whatever I post still goes through but its just annoying. Anyway to fix this guys?

Don't use a task manager, this has been reported by many users and I don't believe that there is a workaround this at the moment. If it's stuck on processing, you can just hit the back button and it'll work as intended! No need to close it.
I don't use a task manager and I'm having the same problems. Force close after reply... Like right now ha ha
Edit: actually it didn't do it this time

I never said that the task manager causes the FC but task manager does cause a lot of problems with other applications and overall Android system. It happens to me once in a while but it's not a big deal for me.
http://android-developers.blogspot.com/2010/04/multitasking-android-way.html As well as other Android developers don't agree with using task manager. But hey, if you want to use it for whatever reason even though everybody advises you not to.. thats okay too. Don't say we didn't tell you so!

I am starting to think that maybe the task manager is worthless, but it just annoys me knowing that there's a bunch of apps on the background just sucking up all my battery. lol

If you read the article, Android manages apps in the background. Believe it or not but battery life is better without using a task manager lol. Do some research about it, definitely not worth it

Same thing happens to me. When it's stuck "processing" I just hit back.
I would just wait until maybe XDA fixes it or use the tapatalk app.

I tried to search this but since "xda app" is in so many sigs I can't find information.
When I post anything the xda app will force close and I have to sign in again. Is there a fix for this?
(I will now post this and kill the app.)
EDIT: posing a new thread didn't kill it.

This happens to me as well. Replying to a thread force closes the app on the Vibrant, but the post gets posted anyway.
I am also seeing this happen. I also noticed when I sign back in the swype keyboard is locked. Pressing any button will cause the app to try and sign back in. I will have to pull up another input method and then revert back to be able to type.
Ditto.

The fix for that is to turn it to landscape and enter the password. Not sure why, but it works.
So... We have concluded that the XDA App has a problem. Who fixes these kinds of things?

Mine worked fine for a while, now does the Force CLose with every post. Nothing changed in between working OK and FC state.
EDIT - I have a captivate.

I guess this is a Galaxy s problem. Still no solution?
pretty sure its an issue with the app itself, not the phone.
It's not just galaxyS. I'm back on my MT3G and while I don't get fc, I am forced to the login screen after (almost) every post. On the vibrant, it would fc but it seems to be the same bug. I would comment in the market so the app devs know about it.
One buggy app.

Happens on my Vibe too.
Yeah it used to do this on my G1 as well. Buggy app indeed but I still use it daily.

Consider buying the full tapatalk app, that's what the XDA app is based on. Some recent updates have made it a LOT more stable. Not perfect, but I don't get kicked out to the login prompt and such anymore.
Lol def a widespread issue, always happened to me but at least the post goes through do I've never thought to bring it up...kinda smart tip do do given this iiiiis a dev board, lol

Dont mind the skidmarks...
XDA fc's on tapatalk too, dont know whats up with that.
Is there something that will provide an enhancement to memory usage on a dinc that requires root. Like preventing apps from automatically running in background. Tired of using a task killer when memory gets down to very low levels.
Maybe a Rom that's efficient at doing this.
Anyone have any ideas?

+1 on autostarts. Instead of killing your apps, autostarts prevents them from starting.
And why do you need to kill these apps? Have they tried to injure you?
Seriously... you probably don't need to kill them unless one of them is acting up. The phone will free up memory as you need it.
Those look good. I'll try them out and see what works better.

I haven't any of this, but maybe it will help you
I know the phone will free up memory as needed but I'm ocd about it and hate that at times it gets down below 40 and bogs the phone down. Tired of seeing apps start up by themselves. I used titanium to freeze apps but now don't remember what's frozen and what's installed on my system. Need something automatic and easier to maintain.

Autokiller does exactly what you are asking for...
was wondering if there is a better way to fix this problem rather than doing the airplane mode toggle trick at every start up of the phone...
I have tasker doing for it me automatically.
I have to ask...is there a free app to do it?

Tasker is an app that does ANYTHING you could possibly tell it to do. It isn't free though, pretty expensive actually, but most power users don't mind the price as it is so handy. It also takes some time/brains to become good at telling it what to do.
http://www.appbrain.com/app/tasker/net.dinglisch.android.taskerm
Oh and also, I assume most people don't actually restart their phone that much, as it's not like WinMo where you had to about twice a day to keep it runnin smoothly. So to most people, turning airplane mode on and off once at each reboot isn't that inefficient.

Do you know how to get it to kill "services" (like the drm thing)? It does apps but does it do services...

I haven't tried Tasker yet, but from researching their user forums I think there was not a way to do this. For stopping services, I use the separate app AutoStart Killer.
It's gotten a little.... green.
Welcome to about last week.
... and the market still sucks. No way to sort by popularity or # of downloads, search results usually yield Asian crap unrelated to your query, and its slow.
I love Android, I love tinkering with it, but they really need to fix the market. When I search for "xda developer" I shouldn't get pages upon pages of garbage in a language I can't speak. I should also be able to filter searches by free, paid, rating, downloads, etc.

Very much a mess still... Oh well

New market doesn't show my downloaded free apps! Anyone got the same problem? If so, how is it solveable? BTW, if I search for those apps, then they show as installed - but not in my apps. Go figure.

I don't like the barf green at all. Other than that it seems to work fine so far, I haven't had an stuck in authorizing/installing issues like I had before yet. But I have had it lag a bit several times.
I do wonder if this is partially my SD card failing or something.
I have to admit being an app designer myself. It looks ****ty and amateur. However the usability fells much better.
Google pretty much build solid apps but design sucks. Just imagine I'd they invested in good designers, they would kick ass.

Clear market cache and something from the settings. Restart after clearing cache.
My old market didn't show downloaded free apps any more. What I did was go to preferences - applications. Then to market and erase its data.
After starting market I had the new market! And all installed apps were visible again.
I prefer not to have an option to sort by ratings/download number. If available, people would search for something, sort the list by ratings and download the top one or the second.
Not being able to sort by ratings gives less known applications the opportunity to shine in the market.
I am surprised no one has brought it up yet here. Running great on my evo! Loads everything properly, which the free app waant for me. Loads it a little faster too so far! Hopefully they release more themes. Only negative is it doesn't seem to hide the status bar.

If you use your phone's search button within the App, you can successfully search? I get immediate FC and many have the same problem.
I'm more curious about the other FCs - that others have seen as well - when doing something random like changing a page or viewing an attached image. Seems like it happens most when the app has been open for a while. Can almost expect it at times. Might have to check this premium version out, didn't even know it WAS out! Thanks.

I fully agree with you with my HTC Vision running stock froyo.
Search is a 100% FC.
To avoid the other type I have always to get out the topic and exiting XDA App, before minimizing/doing something else.
Is this version solving?
I'll probably buy it just to support xda. However every single time I back out of a topic after I have been out if the app for a few mins or the next time I open it, I always get a force close. Every single time I can replicate it. I have to restart the app so it wont force close

I cant tell you... i never got these fcs... i must have a magic phone. I am flashing another rom haha. So i will tell you if search causes fc soon.
Edit: the search button does nothing at all now... lol
It's a good looking app... also Ad-free! Only available for a limited time.. so for a dollar, may as well get it while you can.
