I am using FroyoStone Sense V2 build - this build is using Android 2.2 with sense and it is brilliant on my HD2. I have set it up and am quite happy with it one thing I had trouble doing is disabling the vibrate on the dial pad - I have now found out how to diable the vibrate on the dial pad but it is a bit of a cheat way doing it.
I just downloaded NubDial from market place and it seems to sort the problem. It is free and has a nice simple black keyboard. It is fully intragrated into the address book and when you select the phone button it will prompt which dialer to use, simply select the nubdial and select the option to make as default!
If the vibrate is enabled in this dial pad simply click on windows key for settings and then go to Settings -> uncheck Enable haptic feedback! works a treet

I have managed to do it on the keyboard but cant seem to find a setting for the dial pad its self.
Does any body know how to turn this off, or is there a .apk I can download to turn this off?

I want to know too.
settings --------------> Sounds---------->haptic feedback
Don't think you can. If you go to settings, sound, there's an option to turn of haptic feedback in applications IIRC. Not sure if that would work though...
***Edit*** Tested it, doesn't work!
I searched all over the web, it seems you can't disable dial pad haptic feedback, in a mean time I use third party dial pad.

For those who have not solved this. On your 'phone' dial pad screen, click windows button, Preferences and some where in the middle you will see "Enable Haptic Feedback" check or on check, whatever your preference is and this will take care of Haptic feedback when you dial.

In sense version, on phone dial pad screen, click windows button, then phone settings, it only have edit default message, edit message, save to contact, there is nothing about haptic feedback
In vanilla version, on phone dial pad screen, in phone tab, windows key won't work, call log, contacts, favorites tabs windows key works, but there still is nothing about haptic feedback,
Im just wondering what dial pad you have.
This may have been an android 2.1 version, I think you were able to disable it there. Use the NubDial it is a nice simple dial pad free to download from market place!

I want to disable haptic feed back on my keyboard too, not just my phone dialpad. Turning it off in the phone settings doesn't do anything. I'm using FroyoStone_Sense_V3.1. Has anyone found a solution?

I've disabled haptic feedback in the android settings, under sound. It's the only place I could find to change the setting. It doesn't work.

Where should this question go then? I'm thinking if we had a stock android phone the settings would be working. [EDIT] Oh, I see that this could go under HD2 Android General Discussion.

This does not work on all versions of android. I have tried on some versions and this option is not availabe. Seems to be versions with sense enabled like the desire builds. Ones with out sense has this option. EG nesus one builds.

Hello,
I recently received my Nexus and there is one issue that is rather annoying for me.
I cannot turn off the haptic feedback by unchecking it in settings. All that checkbox does is stop it on the four buttons on the bottom of the phone, I still have haptic feedback on the dialer and the lock screen.
I tried to download the spare parts app, and I've even tried a factory reset.
I find this feature really annoying and I am out of ideas on what to do..
Any help?

It's not on. I still get vibration on dialer and lockscreen.
Sorry for bumping this but am I the only one with this problem?
Could it be an hardware issue so I should send it back before I install cynogen and void my warranty.
You can't turn off vibration on dialer. There isn't an option to do that . Google plz work on this.

Nope that just removed the sound and not the vibration.
I got the same issue. It seems that it is unfixable, unless they release un update with this issue fixed
To disable haptic feedback in the dialer: open up the dialer, press menu button, uncheck 'Enable haptic feedback'.
But I don't know how to disable it on the lockscreen tho :/
There is no menu on the dialler, hitting the menu button doesn't do anything.
Maybe He has a custom ROM.
Ah yes, good point.
I have CM5.0.4.1, I can see that it's credited to "ChainsDD, geesun, niuchl, rac2030 and the rest of XDA! " so, yeah it's probably cuz of the custom ROM.
I didn't realize that
Yeah, its actually Wysies Contacts app that has the option. But unless you root, you can't use it
The thing you are talking about might not be haptic feedback at all
Hi, I had the same problem after I forgot where the menu setting was. (Actually I did a factory reset yesterday.)
To turn off haptic feedback,
Go to Settings > Sounds and Display > Haptic Feedback. Uncheck it.
To turn off vibrate on kepress while typing SMS and others,
Go to Settings > Language and Keyboard > touch Input > Text Input > Vibrate When Typing and uncheck it.
Did not understand why they are at two different places as it confuses me and many. Though, thats the way it is. . Enjoy.
What the hell is the point of haptic feedback? One of the worst invention on this phone. Should simply be a "Turn off all Haptic Feeback"
or better yet.. adb shell rm hapticfeedback.apk
I am having a similar yet opposite problem: I cannot turn on haptic feedback.
This is a N1 I just got from HTC as a warranty replacement. (My first one had a dead spot on the touch screen.) It certainly has a working vibrator - When I turn in the phone and see the logo, also when I turn the phone off, it gives me the haptic buzz. I've had the same result in both stock builds and CM6.
I'm wondering if there is a disconnect in some phones where checking the box just does nothing to change the actual setting.
Any ideas?
I had to turn off Kickback in Accessibility settings.
Do you by any chance just mean the haptic feedback when using the keyboard? Cause there's a separate setting for that, under Language & Keyboard > Touch Input > Text Input > Vibrate when typing.
I would like to turn off the haptic feedback in the lockscreen, but I want to keep the haptic for softkeys. Is it possible without installing a lockscreen replacement?

Ok this one is gonna drive me batty until I figure it out
(Pardon the questions, just want to be sure)...Are we talking about the same thing, the "Settings" tab in Sense, not the "all settings" screen (the WM settings group that looks like the start menu)..?
And, when you're on the settings tab, are you sure you're scrolled all the way to the top of that list?
How in the world does my stock ROM have it there, and yours doesn't??

I am running the Stock ROM as well and it is exactly as you stated sirphunkee! These guys must be a little confused. That is the first thing I stopped. It saved a lot on battery life.
HERE IT IS AGAIN. START/SETTINGS/PERSONALIZE/VIBRATION!
If I knew how to track registry changes in real-time, I'd just change the setting and see what change gets made as a result. But, I don't

Sir Phunk have you seen anything on the boards about disabling or turning off vibration during call waiting? I'm running Core Cell V3 ROM and when you are in a call and get another the handset vibrates which 1.) Isn't pleasant to your ear, 2.) Whoever you are talking to can hear it really loud. Figured you might now, thanks ahead of time...
Nevermind, found it on the boards
I have another question related to vibration on the HD2. This has been asked before, in another thread, but has anybody found a solution to the stuck vibration issue? I usually get it from time to time through e-mail notification vibration. It will vibrate in pulses 3 times. On the third time it will hang until I press a hard button. This is very annoying, and I have disabled the notification vibrate for now.

That option does not seem to be available in android 2.2
From home try hitting the settings (windows) button and select Sound. third from top is "Vibrate - vibration feedback for calls and notifications." Uncheck that and the vib should go away.
Nice one.worked just just as you described it. Thanks
Hey just a question here if someone could help me out.
Wanting to know if there's an option to turn on the "search contacts" option on the dial pad in CM7.
Anyone remember how with the stock rom you could press say...666 for m.o.m. and be able to press that when it came up to call?
It was basically a built in search option for the contacts. Be it corresponding numbers or corresponding letters.
Is this an option with CM7? Cause I really, really, really miss that option.
So much easier to search numbers by pressing letters than it is trying to remember numbers or scrolling contacts.
Anyone know about that? Thanks again for all the help guys!
press the "genius button " and start typing the name.
You can't do that CM7 dialer. Get Go Contacts or dialer one from market. This dialpad has the search feature your looking for.

Awesome. Thanks. But which one of these do you recommend?
And how would I set it as the default dialer?
Try GO contacts, you'll probably stick with it. How make default? In the beginning whenever you try to launch contacts if there are several options you'll be asked which application you want to run (or complete action with)- plus the option to make your choice as default (you can always revert it from 'manage applications').
what will happen is, that after choosing the number in the method you wanted (either typing numbers or letters) and you'll press the dial button- it will use cm7 dialer anyway, but with the numbers you've asked for, which is fine anyway. As far as I know you can't change this.
Also when you answer incoming calls it's with cm7 dialer.
Don't know which launcher you're using, but consider also giving a try to GO launcher too, it's a pretty good one too.

If I'm not wrong Go Contacts can do that for you. IF you really need the stock dial then just accept the faith. No phone can be made to satisfy all it's users.
use a 3rd party keyboard with the ability to turn haptic feedback on/off, for example swiftkey x
I think the gingerbread keyboard from the market may also have that option.
As far as the dialpad, I dont think there is a way with the stock one.
