Boot into recovery and load one of your backups. If you don't have backups, then you just learned why you need them. Of course, there are people who have uploaded nandroid backups to this site and others, find one of them, move it to your sdcard, boot into recovery, and install it.
If all this fails, then just .sbf. It doesn't take forever, and you can make a nice clean stock 2.2 backup after you root and then upgrade.

What OS are you running? Have you tried to SBF your phone back to factory?

Im guessing its 2.2 only

Yeah i got it back by doing spf. And then reloaded a backup, but i could never get into clockwork, what do u do yo get into clockwork because the only recovery i was able to get into was the recovery that comes with the phone, just would like to know.

The same thing happened to me trying to update using the update.zip. Installs everything normally but when it comes to booting it simply stops at the motorola logo, then if you reboot it several times taking the battery out it boots into the system.

Doesn't sound like your rooted? Have to be rooted to use Clockwork.
If you are rooted might try reinstalling the Bootstrap Recovery.

Would definitely suggest doing an SBF on the phone. The guides here are a little unorganized, so I wrote up a nice one below. Includes everything including the SBF file needed for flashing.

Need help! My phone was rooted using the Easy Root process, all was peachy until I decided to try the latest leak of 2.2. Didn't work, got stuck at the M logo and could only get the bootloader screen up. I thought it was bricked but after searching high and low through the blogosphere got to this post. Now I've done the sbf as suggested, but when I try to do the Easy Root again, nothing happens. Any suggestions? I would like to root again so I can access the backup from my sd card and get my phone back to where I had it b/f. HELP!

[Q] Emergency. HELP!

I was adding a new custom ROM to my Droid 2 because I wasn't happy with the Epic ROM so I went with the VZW 2.4.5 Clean ROM, I wanted to add the kangerade blue theme to it but accidently installed the wrong version of it over my ROM and now my phone is in a constant boot loop. sometimes it stays at the droid eye for a while and then load into the lock screen but will go right back into the boot sequence.
When it does boot into the lock screen there is not enough time for me to get into the bootstrapper app to boot into recovery mode.
are there any other ways to get into recovery mode? I've searched high and low on this forum and others as well.
I want my droid back =[
Have you tried to pull the battery and then put it back in. Everytime I do that, I end up at recovery thing.
yup, i've pull the battery many times. i've got it into the android recovery screen but when I to the data/cache format it just brings me to the green android starting screen and goes back into the boot loop, what's weird is that the theme is still applied to the phone

Hmmm. Kind of a roundabout process, but did you make a backup. I'd just restore it to a backup and then go from there.
i can't get into the clockwork recovery, just the stock android recovery. are there any backdoors that i could use with adb?
Try taking the battery out during the boot animation a few times, if that doesn't get you to clockwork recovery you've probably lost your recovery. I've noticed that I sometimes (or always?) Lose clockwork when installing a Rom. If that is the case you may have to sbf unless you can get adb to work from the lockscreen.

how would I go about doing an sbf? could you point me in the right direction?
On this forum three posts down is a guide. Follow the guide exactly, except you will have to put your phone in bootloader mode since it will not turn on and stay on. Do do this, hold the up button on the dpad when you turn it on.
It works, i just did it yesterday. First time ive ever had to flash SBF, and i did ALOT of roms and modding on my D1. The bootstrap is nice but not as nice as a full bootloader.

cool. i think i found the guide. it says backup my sd card to my computer..this doesn't delete everything on the sd card does it?
(not a huge concern since having a working phone is better than losing all my stuff on my memory card)
okay. I tried doing what the tutorial said and I got an error on my bootloader that says
"Critical Error: DEA1"
EDIT:
Well it looks like it was just a simple "I need to update my rsd lite program"
I was using the 4.5 and I read that 4.9 was out so I gave updating RSDLITE a shot and boom, the phone is reflashing as we speak
My sd card is intact... untouched from what I can tell. I had no apps2sd though (with 8 gigs on board why would I?)

Where is the RSD Lite 4.9? All I come across is 4.7.

[q] insane droid 2 problems

My phone isn't working. My DROID 2 is running the stock ROM, and it's not doing anything. I can't get it into recovery, I've tried the PC recovery, it didn't work, because the "Droid 2 2.3.2 SBF.zip" file is corrupted. I boot it up, it goes through the boot animation, but when it boots up, nothing happens. The screen is black. I'm pretty sure everything is running under it, and the haptic feedback from both the lockscreen buttons and and soft buttons work. I'm at wits end, nothing it working at all. Help. Please, help. I use my phone all the time, I just got it 2 weeks ago, however it was a Certified Pre Owned device from Verizon. One little thing, I changed my SD card from the one I had in it before, and it booted up like normal, then after about 20 seconds, it goes to the black screen. I'm about ready to call Verizon and get them to send me a new one.
If it says the zip is corrupted, you might try re downloading the SBF file and trying it over again.
Sent from my DROID2 using XDA App
I tried downloading it several times. None of them worked. I can't open the zip to get the .sbf.
your back light prob died
You probably removed Backup Assistant. Do as the earlier poster said and re download the SBF its a lot easier than trying to get Backup assistant back on your phone.
And to the earlier poster he wouldn't see the phone boot up if the back light was dead.
Where are you downloading the SBF from? Try downloading it form here:
hxxp://bit.ly/dir7fq (replace xx with tt)
what I did was somehow get Clockwork Recovery loaded. I promptly wiped it clean, and requested a new one from Verizon. I got it, and rooted it and such. Now I'm running Fission 2.5.7 with an FM Radio. It's epic!
You must have had a bad sbf file. If i were sending it back i would have used the sbf method rather than having them boot recovery to see clockwork there. Hope they don't bill you for that one...ouch...

Actually, the recovery is the default Android recovery. Clockwork was temporarily put in there, so it's not anymore. The reason I couldn't fix it was because I couldn't boot back into Clockwork. When they look, they'll find nothing
Can you put [SOLVED] in your thread title? Thanks!

Bricked Evo? Stuck in Boot Loop

I'm rooted, unrevoked; I'm currently stuck in a boot loop. I can not reach recovery. I can not get to my rom. I can only access bootloader.
So far I have taken these steps to cure my problem:
Ran RUU software in Windows (with and without sd card in evo)
Flashed RUU as PC36IMG in bootloader
Cleared Storage using fastboot in command prompt
Cleared Recovery and then Flashed Amon Ra's Recovery and Clockwork using fastboot in command prompt
Flashed Amon Ra's Recovery and Clockwork as PC36IMG in hboot
Flashed Sprint Lover's as PC36IMG in hboot
Flashed eng-PC36IMG from Toastctfh's Old Root Tutorial as PC36IMG in hboot
Each of these methods flashed successfully as far as I can tell... yet I still go into an infinite boot loop.
Before the bootloop this is what I was doing:
I had the initial CM7 nightly installed for about 2 weeks. It was buggy, and a few days ago restarted and deleted all my texts, and desynced from google. On rebooting, google apps acted as if I had never ran the phone before - it asked me to enter google account info, etc, upon reboot.
I decided CM7 was too unstable and so I wiped data and davlik, and flashed CM6. When CM6 booted google apps was already on, before I had even flashed it! Anyways I figured I wanted to give MIUI a run, so I wiped data and davlik, and flashed MIUI. It ran fine for about two hours, and then rebooted out of nowhere... and never came out of the boot loop.
I'm really starting to sweat this as I have gone three days now without a phone. Does anyone have any ideas that may help me? Thanks.
If I am unable to get out of my boot loop, does anyone know if I would be able to unroot my phone and then take it into Sprint and get another?
Are you able to boot into recovery?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
unfortunately, nope
Hmm then I'm not to sure what to tell you. That was my only idea.

bump to this as I am also experiencing this same situation. Phone stuck in an infinite bootloop to the white htc screen then all over again. can get into bootloader but not into recovery.
tried all the above. this was out of nowhere.
This problem is all over the Evo section, especially in Q&A and I don't think I've seen anyone come out of it.
On the positive side, I also don't think I've seen anyone take theirs back to Sprint and have a tech even check to see if their phone was rooted or not, and btw, next time you flash a new ROM, not saying this is the cause, wipe EVERYTHING, not just cache and dalvik-cache
Having the same problem here also...
didi you try the clear storage mode in the boot loader cause if you already flashed the PC36IMGyou wouldnt have a custom recovery just the triangle screen i recomend doing it with the original 2.1 zip file then just re rooting it put the rom then flash radio and g apps

I have tried everything you have mentioned and nothing works...
The OP's list of attempted fixes looks like he ran the gamut.
Unless there's a fix that I haven't read about, it's time for a trip to the Sprint store....
I have someone working on mine that claims he can get it fixed...has access to things I don't. We will see. I will report the results.
Ok...He did it and its up and running. I was trying to flash mine to Boost Mobile so thats how i got mine into a boot loop but he got mine out of it with this...Download the

Update gone wrong! NEED HELP!!!

So I've been running MIUI 1.8.whatever for a few weeks and finally realized there hadn't been an update in a while. After discovering MIUI move into the 1.9.Xs I downloaded 1.9.16 and proceeded to update via CWM. While updating it told me 1.9.16 runs off the Gingerbread kernel. At that point I got worried since I had been running the Froyo kernel since I rooted my DX.
After the update I told it to reboot and now it gets stuck at the white M logo. I can boot into regular recovery but I CANNOT get my phone to boot into CWM recovery so I can run the backup!
I've tried every button combination with no luck. i've booted into regular recovery and selected reboot having read that it will boot back into CWM recovery. Needless to say that didn't work either. And lastly I tried running RSDLite to SBF the phone to .602 but since the phone can't fully boot up RSDLite doesn't see the phone.
That is where I am at and I seek the help and guidance of you much smarter folks to help me get my phone at minimum to CWM recovery.
PLEASE HELP!!!
Boot the phone into bootloader mode, then SBF.

I got it into bootloader mode now, but my computer isn't finding the OMAP drivers and the installation keeps failing. How can I get these drivers onto my computer? RSD isn't seeing the phone even in bootloader so these drivers seem to be the key.
You can find the drivers in this thread:

I got RSDLite to see the phone. Now when I try to flash it, it makes it all the way to checking the checksums (which all pass) then tries to switch the phone to BP passthrough. It keeps failing to switch the phone to BP passthrough and now my phone will only boot to the Bootloader screen and says Code Corrupt. It'll let me run the flash again but RSDLite keeps failing at that BP passthrough switch.
Thats where i'm at now.
Try a different SBF file. I had problems like this when i tried to SBF once, but once I found the SBF file that works for me, its always worked since. (I've had to SBF like 6 times now haha)
will find an older sbf file and try that. Wil let you know.
Alright we've made progress! I was able to finally get the phone SBF'd to .602. Then I rocked the Pete's Droid Rooting program and all seemed to have gone smoothly... Except I cannot boot into CWM recovery at all! I've ensured ROM Manager has the correct flash for CWM installed, but when I click Reboot into CWM Recovery, it'll reboot normally. So I turned the phone off and held the Home + Power button to boot into regular recovery. I get the ! logo with the green android, but when I hit hte Search button nothing happens.
So now I'm rooted, but can't get to CWM Recovery to install ROMS.
What do you guys think?
Yeah, Reboot into Recovery from ROM Manager doesn't work for me usually either...in fact, I had to go into the Bootstrapper app, install the recovery again, and then hit Reboot Recovery. This is on Apex though, but can't hurt to try it.
Yea I finally got it figured out. Its been so long since I originally rooted my phone I forgot all about D2Bootstrapper. And I didn't read the how-to guide for updating to MIUI 1.9.16 so that was all on me.

In a mess of trouble. Help please I'v searched with no luck.

So I think I've royally F'd my DX. I was going to try rooting and flashing a new rom. I'm not a total noob (rooted gtab, nook color, Le Pan) but this is ****ing me up.
It was running 2.3.3 605 originally. I started out with just root, that seemed fine. I got superuser and busybox installed without a problem. I install clockwockmod and dx bootstrap. I was even able to get CWM 5.0.2 or whatever installed without any trouble like I had read.
I tried reading and following threads but I couldn't fallow on if I was missing steps. I have zero experience with rooting via scripts and I have no intention to learn and would rather go back to stock.
I immediately got problems with rebooting. It would not reboot via the power button. It would go to the Red M then just black screen. But it would boot just fine if I pulled out the battery and tried that way.
I did a factory reset thinking that would help, it didn't. I was still rooted but the problems got worse. Now I boot directly into CWM recovery and have to reboot from in there to get to the OS.
I read some more, thought I had figured more out. Installed Rom manger, installed Liberty3. I'm still booting straight into recovery but when I reboot from there I'm stuck at the spinning Liberty logo.
I need help, I've read and searched, if you want to be a **** have run. But I need my phone fixed. Hold my hand like I'm Hellen Keller and help please.
I would recommend reading the Droid X wiki at the Cyanogenmod website. I had some of the same issues until I followed the downgrade + root method and then installed ROM Manager and CM7 manually through recovery. Good luck!

Don't use ROM manager and don't use dxbootstrap (unless you have usb debugging unchecked). I use d2 bootstrap always. And you will have the occasion of it going in to cwm when you boot phone back up. I dealt with it for while. And cwm should be 2502 or something like that when you're just rooted 605. Did you make a nandroid of your rooted 605 before you tried to flash liberty
? Hopefully you did. Go back to that. Then use d2 bootstrap to get in to recovery, wipe data, cache and dalvik, then select install ip from sd card, then choose zip, then scroll via volume down to the liberty file, select that and flash.
I used directions posted over at Androidforums.com under the All Things Root forum for the Dx. I had a couple of hiccups, but it was user error. I now have Liberty 3 running smoothly on my Dx. Check it out, including the guide and ROM lists.
