hi all
are roms available via rom manager compatible with the dell streak ?
No responses to this question?
Only dj steve makes custom roms for the streak.
Dj steve should get a hold of the developer of rom manager and have his roms put on there.

Hello, I apologise for a completely rookie question, but I am going to ask cos I am unsure...
I have an T-Mobile MDA COMPACT III UK version of the P3300. It runs windows mobile 5.
I want to give the B&B ROM a try and have read up on how you do it using USPL.
My Question: When I do a search for the ROM it comes up in the "Windows Mobile 6" thread, does this mean I need to upgrade to windows mobile 6 first? Or can i just flash with the ROM?
Again sorry for the daft question, all answers will be greatly appreciated!
It is in the 'Windows Mobile 6' section, because it is based on WM6. You don't need to upgrade first, this is what you are doing by flashing the ROM.
Hope this helps!
Thanks for your fast reply, helps alot!
Do you have a recommendation for which ROM is the best out there?
Everyone usuallly recomends the B+B ROMs, but personally i like the Vanilla 2 ROM, its all down to personal preference. Vanilla is quick, and stable, B+B has a lot of features. (Both are based on WM6)
The choice is yours
Hi,
There is a new version for all Desire Z of the clockworkmod, just go into rom manager and the update will prompt.
New things are the possibility of going back using the back key (this was not possible before and it was done by pressing down power button), and the possibility of partition your sd card. But why would you like to partition it? Is there any ROM that supports A2SD already??
Can someone please explain to me what is the point of installing these custom ROM-s, out of which most have some kind of bug's or disadvantages over the perfectly reliable and fully working stock ROM by HTC?
In my point of view, HTC has a massive team of developers and testers for developing their software, so it has a better chance to be more reliable and bug free than any custom ROM developed by a small team of developers, who by no doubt must be great at what they do (respect for devoting their time to advance mobile software) but by numbers alone they have a lesser edge on thinking through all the possible bugs and errors in their code.
What are the main advantages a custom ROM gives you that makes you want to replace your stock with it and risking losing some of your phones functionality..?
Thanks for any insightful answers
If you pick the right rom you will have no bugs at all, and a faster more smooth version of the stock rom.
That is all I will say. You need to try them for yourself to really know what its like, but once you do you will never want to go stock again.
I agree,... ALL custom ROMs I have ever used for long periods of time have been "snappier" than the stock ROMs. Some have better battery life, some allow further customisation than stock.
As Lenny said, give it a bash, if it is not for you then you can always revert back.

Well, what if there's a bug in the current ROM for a function that you use a lot and you want to switch to something else that doesn't have that bug ?
What if you want to use different programs instead of the ones that HTC has picked and built into the ROM ?
What if you want to overclock your phone for extra performance and want that function built in there without any messing around ?
As for the number of people thing, although it might only be a few people actually cooking the ROM, but remember that a *lot* more could be involved in writing the applications in the ROM.
Not meant to be an exhaustive list, but those are just a few reasons why you might want a custom ROM.
This is my first Android phone, previously I was on WinMo, and there the custom ROMs were always hugely better than the stock ROMs (more stable, faster, better functionality, etc).

Sorry but I am a newbie of DesireZ and on the XDA forum as well. A few things want to know about this new clockworkmod :
1) Where can I download this new version?
2) I have already installed ROM Manager but never flashed any ROM so far, so how to install this new version?
3) Can you recommend a good ROM for DZ? My main concern is that I can change the system font size, and the 4 function key below can work (I know some G2 ROM not compatible with DZ, especially the 4 keys below)
4) I have also already ENG S-Off and rooted. So I just need to save the ROM in SD and flash it with the ROM manager?
I thank in advance!

Go into ROM manager and it will tell you there's a new version of ClockworkMod available. Then you can flash it from the option within ROM Manager (and reboot into recovery if you want to, just to test it).
Hi everyone, i just got rid of my touch pro 2 and now have the Dell Streak. I was very familiar on updating roms with my old phone, but now is different with with the Streak and Android. I think im in overload reading on how to upgrade roms on the Streak. What are the "Must" things to do? and does my phone have to be UNLOCKED? ( I dont think it matters) Any help would be great.
Moving to General
and i am sure its in the general section how to upgrade or the development section
Hi,
Need help rooting Android (preferably Gingerbread) on to my UK O2 HD2.
If any one can help or lead me in the right direction, that would be cool.
Thanks everyone and anyone..
All the NAND Android ROMs I have flashed so far have been rooted already when I flash them, one of the perks about flashing a custom Android ROM for any device really. All the ROMs I have flashed were 2.3 Gingerbread. You can check the ROM linked in my sig or the Typhoon Cynagen Mod ROM.
Hi!
Good day!
I have a HTC HD2 with Android 2.3.4 installed in it and I would like to try/ switch to Windows Phone7. I've seen a few videos over youtube and read some of the threads here but all I see are windows 7 BETA roms. Is there a "final" rom for the HD2? If not, where do i find the latest Windows 7 ROM for my HTC HD2?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1427611 - This thread seem to have compiled all the ROMs and updates for HTC HD2 -Windows (Thanks to the efforts of the developers and the one who compiled) but I cannot seem to figure out which ROM to get. Any assistance would be very much appreaciated.
Apologies for asking a very basic question.
Thanks!
Carlos
WOW..
I don't really know what you mean with BETA roms, because all those roms shall be very well developed, in my eyes.
"A final rom" by meaning a rom that is almost as much developed as the official released WP rom, then you can just choose one from the development threads. In ex. my HD2 is running on XBmod rom and is just like running on a official rom for me. There are many good roms like the one made by HD2Owner, or the on by Pdaimatejam etc. All these roms are WELL developed, not a BETA.
But if you mean a final one by meaning that the development is good enoug so the rom is stopped on development, you can't find one, because all roms are still getting new features just like the official one is updating itself
here you find all ROM's for HD2
recommend this one
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1356833
dont forget to read tutorial for install
also dont forget to need ask Microsoft for Live activation code (all HD2 ROM's need this)
Thanks!

All the ROMs are basically the same, albeit tweaks the chef may have added. You have to realize that WP7 is constantly updated by MS...just like Android. All the ROMs sporting v8773 (Tango) have the BETA v8773 build. Thus, when MS releases the official final version of v8773 you'll have to reflash your phone and install all your apps again when the chef releases an update.
The Yuki/XBmod ROM is on the official v8107 (Mango). It is also the most stable and the only updatable custom ROM via official MS Zune update. As such, no reflash needed. It is no longer chef supported, but it's still the most stable one of the bunch.
I have tried almost all of the ROMs out there and still use Yuki/XBmod on my phones.
Hi hjhjhj ,
Noted on that. Things seem clearer now.
I just did it! I was able to boot my phone on Win7 woohooo!!!
Thanks to all who replied to my query
Ok one last problem, when i call Microsoft help desk and ask for an activation code, what details do they ask? will they make sure I have a phone originally installed with WP7?
