hey guys i got a problem and i need help with my htc hero. well to start off, I had version 1.5 and i tried to do the OTA Update, but it didn't work, and i sent it back to HTC to repair it. Once i got it back, it had version 2.1 on it, but stupid me did another OTA update on my hero, and now i have the same problem as i did in the beginning except instead of a HERO screen, my hero is stuck on the HTC screen. Does any1 know a fix for this problem? any help would be appereciate. BTW i tried doing the hold home + Back already.
Run official RUU And then flash recovery .
sorry for the noobie question, but how do you do that? where could i get the files?
bumpp! hahaha
If you use search or google, you will find GSM hero ruu updates on shipped-roms, amongst various sites
Click on my Radio signature and you will see that ..
hey i was reading your SIG, but will it work for a non rooted hero?
Just download the Official RUU version of hero .. it don't need root or anything ..
[email protected] Don't flash radios unless you have recovery & custom ROM
hey i tried dling the RUU on the Official HTC website, but i have a higher version then they one they provide
bump!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just check what software version it's running. 99% positive it'll be 2.1, in which case it can be rooted, incredibly easily, by following here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=788776
Then if you want Froyo, flash either WildFire or Puzzle. Or wait a bit for CyanogenMod.
say if i install this unrootable official froyo ROM (RUU_Buzz_Froyo_HTCCN_CHS_2.10.1400.3_Radio_13.53.5 5.24H_3.35.19.25_release_151119_signed.exe) and will I be able to install the custom ROMs available later ???

Since you're rooted(you did root your phone right?), you can't use official updates from HTC. You have to download a ROM from xda forums and flash.

where i can get official rom?
Ok well I'd recommend rooting your phone first. Its very simple. There's a thread in the HTC Aria forums where it guides you step by step on how to root.
Sent from my Liberty CM7
does it work with gratia? have anybody try it?
Yeah it works with every HTC android phone. I would post the link but I'm on from the xda app and don't know how to post the link. Just go to HTC Aria> Android Development> and there's a guide on how to install unrevoked. Just follow that.

If you have a gratia you can't root the phone. The hboot has not been cracked yet. If you received the phone like this you are going to need to send it back for repair. Also there is no released RUU for the stock gratia.

Isn't the gratia almost exactly like the Aria? Because Arias ROMs are from legend and gratia.
Sent from my Liberty CM7
yes it is the same phone but the hboot which is required for root is a newer version on the gratia. The USA aria and asian with 2.1 have an hboot of .57 the gratia / aria 2.2 update in asia have an hboot of 1.01 or something which cannot be hacked hence no root.

Cyanogenmod and LA Roms are not from Legend. LA FR series is from Aria (Asia) and Gratia, which is an Aria with newer firmware, such as the newer HBOOT that jznomoney mentioned, that hasn't been hacked yet.

Better yet, could you start the HBOOT in your phone (turn off, press volume down + power button and a white screen with text will come up) and check its version? It should be 0.57.000
Do you know if someone is working on Gratia looking for a way to root it?
Will be possible to do?
Hi all, I've had my desire hd for about 3 weeks, the other day I went to update the software in it but when it checks for it, it says no software update available and that my phone is up to date, I am currently on 1.39??? Is this correct? Or is there a next update for my phone? If there is how do I get it?? Or is there a problem with my phone?? Any knowledge would be greatly appreciated, also I'm in the u.k as well, ok thanks everyone
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
You got a network branded phone?
You can root and install a custom rom anyway, this will offer you the most up to date roms anyway.
Yeah mate its Vodafone branded, in all fairness every other phone I've owned I have either flashed, jailbroken, or rooted and to be honest I just wanted to steer clear of that and just stick with stock firmware, I'm really happy with my stock dhd but obviously if an update is available that's gonna improve it, then I'll do it, but I'm checking for updates but nothing is happening :-( I was just wondering if I should either be patient or send my phone for repair or even if there is an update available at all???

If you root, S-OFF, Radio S-OFF and then flash a Generic 1.32 WWE HTC RUU then you can follow the update to the latest HTC firmware.
Your DHD will then have the latest firmware and receive any future updates weeks if not months before they get pushed to you by your carrier/network.

I have a stock DHD, unbranded and on 1.32. No updates here...
Just an FYI post this, but I am also wondering if something is up based on what you just said.
The latest official HTC base is 1.84.61.2
You should try *#*#2432546#*#* (checkin).

Right thanks. No joy here still. Is there a way of manually pushing the update and if so will it affect future updates?
Are you rooted, etc...? Have you tried setting your date 1-2 months in advance? This worked for my HTC Hero with the 2.1 update ages ago.
Other than flashing a custom sense based ROM which has the 1.84.61.2 base we just have to wait until the update gets pushed. I would of thought that you would of have had the update, even Vodafone UK are now pushing 1.84.xx.x
reflash the RUU again. Maybe you have uninstalled some system apps.
guys the ota update is currently only for south east asia

anyone with nonbranded europian update can share it? should be in your update folder on your sd. Prolly it is the only file in the update folder on sdcard, should be in ace.1.84.720.3.bla bla convention. btw file is deleted after installation , so copy it to your puter before installing the update.

I am just curious will htc release 2.3 android for wildfire??? Anyone know???
Best regards
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Unlikely. But, this has officially neither been confirmed nor denied. Someone sent a mail to HTC, and, got a standard automated reply "We will notify you if we are providing 2.3 for Wildfire... bla bla bla"
Anyhow, as I said previously, in my personal opinion, it is unlikely. More so now, because the Wildfire S is out.
Good point there... I mean it is kind of strange that we have custom roms for wildfire based on gingerbread that work quite fine, and then we dont have original rom with gingerbread... and then stupidest move of all is to lock bootloader and all that malarky that makes froyo unrootable...
Am I right or wrong???

It's to force people to ditch their Wildfire and get their new line of phones. Simple and cold business logic.
why the hell do u need official gingerbread on ur wildfire. the official froyo for wildfire updated the bootloader and implemented greater security on the bootloader, so that no one knows whether it will be rooted or not. 4months of work without any result.
i dont want official gingerbread on my device. and i dont want any further security on my bootloader. need someone to root my wildfire.
the answer to ur question is wildfire is not getting any official gingerbread. the 3 network in UK has already confirmed that.
the reason is simple. wildfire s is releasing this may, which decreases the htc support to the original wildfire.

Hero wasn't a budget device but the Wildfire is.
HTC Tattoo for an example is still on 1.6.
Also HTC UK said on facebook, "Because of the capabilities of the wildfire we think its best for now to keep the wildfire on 2.2"
Which makes no sense, Gingerbread is even faster.

Err.... I did update to 2.2 official without changing my HBOOT. How? I waited for the modified version without the HBOOT image
I`ll gladly do the same for 2.3 official.

great news dude. it means that even u can still root ur froyo wildfire now. ur patience benefitted u. to be patient is what i learn frm u.
and where is that modified version of official froyo update. can u give me a download link of it.
i think the modified version definately has an updated radio, updated recovery image, and other updated things leaving the HBOOT unupdated. do u face any problems with this issue.
i think the modified update is OTA UPDATE zip file. and in that ota zip file, we will see firmware.zip .
the firmware .zip contains boot.img and HBOOT file
i think u replaced the boot.img and HBOOT with an older version eclair RUU. am i correct
creators of the modified version, pls let me know how u did that.
edit:
oh, sorry i got it.
so, u first had a rooted phone and then u made update with ROOTED OFFICIAL UPDATE.ZIP

No one has, because Gingerbread Sense does not boot on the Wildfire. Atleast yet.
Gingerbread is pretty light, It has the exact requirements of Froyo.
It will not run slow, there are custom roms that prove that.
HTC is just forcing you to buy a new phone.
I think I'll go Samsung next time.
From my expirence with samsung - DONT!! My tab has had no updates, is laggy (as all other galaxy s devices are) I would reccomend a higher end htc

I wouldn't. They are all shipping with locked bootloaders now - ala SE. So, if you wish to have stuff like Root and Custom ROM's, not good at all.

+1 on samsung. I myself am thinking of getting a Galaxy Ace. Rooted my friend's ace yesterday - it was so easy! Just psneuter (superoneclick) is enough - and you have full system r/w access. Trying to get CWM running on it now
Actually, a lot of the new SE phones are supposed to ship with unlockable bootloaders. As far as I know, anyway. Neo, Arc and Play, at least. These seem to be fairly high-end.
Just wondering whether they will back out soon like they did with PS3's OtherOS option.
