I have had my phone for about a month now and about 6 days ago I realised that it is now taking really blurry pics, so blurry you can barely see peoples faces without getting an inch from their face. My phones been dropped twice so there is a few dings on the edges. I wanna bring it in for warranty exchange, do you think they will just see the dings and assume the issue is because I dropped it? The camera issue didnt even start till atleast a week after the last time it got dropped. Or is the camera thing a known issue with this phone?
Thanks for any help or info.
Did you try cleaning the lens with some type of cleaner

You mean like take the clear plastic cover off and clean the actual camera lense? Or just used a cleaner on the outside of the plastic cover? Either way no I havnt
I had the same problem, called tmo and they sent me a new phone.

When I was talking to the them they said its wasn't one of their "known" problems but it obviously is. But I just found out that the speaker for your ear doesn't work. I have to use speaker phone to make/receive any calls.

So i just got my refurb a week later.
I noticed some things...
1) The plastic it came with had a little hole for the FFC lol.
2) the camera band-outside is green instead of clear like my old one... is this a different camera or something?
and....
IT HAS 2.2!!!!!!!!!!!
A modified phone? you should change it again, or stay if you like FFC?
Sent from my GT-I9000 using Tapatalk
the camera's on refurb/replacement phones have this little blue platsic stuff to protect the camera bezel in travel. it's not a solid sheet, it's just a "ring".
is that supposed to be funny because tmo screw you over ? PPP j/k

So I just but my s4 today from sprint. I f****** love this thing. But on the rear camera it looks like there's this film covering the lens. Kinda like the film you peel off the front screen and whatnot. Actually that's what I thought it was so I tried peeling it off (not hard), but that shiz wasn't coming off. I've shot some pics and I think they look fine. I can push on the 'film' and it will move around a little bit. It looks like there are little nics and scrapes (barely noticeable) around the edge of the camera, but idk if that's from the manufacturing process or what. Does anyone else have this on their s4? If not, I wonder if I have a faulty device. I've included some pictures, taken from the front camera on my nexus 7 (which was difficult to do) so you know what I'm talking about. Any feedback is appreciated!! Best phone I've ever owned, and I haven't even rooted it yet!
That's the protection cover, you can remove it

Are you sure dude? No matter how hard I try it won't come off. I feel like I'm gonna break it somehow. Do you have an s4?
haha It is definitely a protective film.
It is a bit hard to remove but it comes off

Removed mine, just get a fingernail under the edge, will peel off.
Ok thanks guys. Haha I must sound like a moron. This is my first really nice smartphone. So im kinda in love right now, and dont want to hurt my precious s4
I know how you feel, a few other threads on the same subject as yours have come up, that film is hella hard to get off.. took me 10 mins lol, was so scared I'd wreck something.. but it's deff supposed to come off. there's also film on the sides of the phone I didn't notice till day 2, anyways back to camera, yeah remind that shiz!

Yep, you can remove it, took me a while to, but it began annoy me as part of it was up, so I eventually took it off.
I took off this lense protector last night. It took me 5 minutes lol Now it looks much better.
Thought I was the only one wondering about this , thanks guys.
Gentleman,
If you're like me, you worry about protecting your camera lens.
I've got a fix for you.
It's cheap, it does not alter image quality, it works on 99% of all phones and case materials.
What you need:
No residue painters masking tape (3/4")
I cut a piece about 3" long, fold a tiny tab to make folding it back easier, and position it horizontally over the lens and across to the side of the phone/case.
Whenever I want to take a picture I peel it back, capture the photo, and fold it back over. I've included some photos to give you an idea of what I'm talking about.
come on man
Protip? Not quite.

Comrade,
Why would you say such a thing? I think you're jelous you did'nt come up with this innovation!
On a more serious note, I thought there would be some (appreciative) individuals out there who would benefit from this "Protip".
Maybe you would have liked it more had I incorporated crayons or a Goosebumps novel.
Thanks. I would definitely use it to save my camera lens from scratches

It's more like a ghetto tip but it works. Thanks for the share. It's for sure cheap and easy and replaceable.
Sent from my HTC One using xda premium
Well the politically correct term would be "urban", not ghetto, but I agree.
The only part of this super cool professional tip I don't care for is the lackluster color selection of paint making tapes.

Hi Pinkthesink
My humble request to you is to ignore these non believers. Your innovation is highly regarded and much appreciated in the technology world.
You have single handedly changed the way people will protect their assets.
Infact i would extend your idea to covering my whole phone with sticky tape and removing when i require to use the phone.
Better still, i would also cover myself up with sticky tape to be protected against harsh weather conditions.
You sir, are a genius !!
you should patent this

I decided to take this guys idea one step further and put my phone back in it's box... now when I need to take a photo I simply remove the phone from the box and voila I can take a photo and it stops the lense from getting scratched.
Will post some pictures later on showing my phone in the box and also out the box in case anyone is unsure about how my idea works!

I went a step further than you and as well as returning the phone to the box I have slipped the plastic cover back on and added OP's sticky tape idea to the outside of the box just in case the box was to accidently fly open and device went flying out.
Bwahahahahahaha, what's next? How to: cellophane sticky tape screen protector, on a budget, hint don't buy the expensive 3M stuff get the no name brand. lol
Real protip: glue a piece of thin clear plastic on the outside/inside of a case. Simple, easy.
Lmao hilarious thread.

I returned my One to the shop... everytime i need to take a pic, i goto a local phone shop, buy it, take a pic, then reuturn, simple. . .
Never a broken asset on my One!
On a serious note, i would suggest purchasing a cheap iPhone or iPad screen protector and push out the round circle from the protector for the iphone/ipad home button and use that.
*Simples*
Comrades,
All I wanted to do was help. I thought my idea would offer peace of mind and protection, something we all desire. I'm not sure why my brilliance (see OP) has suffered so much. I thought my peers at XDA would cheer me on, not mock me. Alas here I am writing my first public statement:
I'm sorry my idea is on another level of excellence that apparently has blown the minds of the majority of respondents.
I'm sorry my idea is not only cool, but looks hip and gets the attention of desirable members of society.
I'm sorry my mother said it was a good idea when she saw it and heard my reasoning.
I'm sorry that I have other professional tips that I will now never share.
I'm sorry

Your idea is very simple, indeed. But don't act like it's some kind of genius idea. Surely you understand why people react the way they do?
Hello everybody. I'm just trying to turn my old dark Nexus into an old shiny one. Has anyone done this and would like to share his experiences with me?
I had to install a new battery anyway, so I thought I'll give the whole thing a new look as well

so far only with sandpaper and polishing paste. I am afraid to do it with a polishing machine because the aluminum gets very hot. The half cover is made of plastic. I do not want it to be deformed.
OK, all parts are replaced, Phone is running again and i'am Happy.
It is Looks good so far with the black Contrast. What i dont Like are These fingerprints at all without using a Cover... But hey, ITS a old Phone. It must Look Like dirty.
so I can put it back in the desk now?
WoW ??
Very nice!! Some ppl are crazy about their phones
