4 digit pass problem - HD2 General

Hello! when i installed swype keyboard on my htc hd2 after restarting when i write my 4 digit code nothing happens. I don't want to lose my contacts and I'm not doing hard reset
Please help me.

sim code or phone lock code???

It is phone lock code

so you do have a big problem now, because you would first have to remove your phone lock before installing swype. swype setup is changing the user information of your device. so you are locked out now.
what to do now without flashing new rom i dont know. maybe someone else can help you with this problem.
but the problem with swype changing the user info is known. so you had to read more carefull.
look @ this thrad: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681004&highlight=swype

Thank you, but that didn't help me.

Try Try and Try again
Well,
Yiour other possibility is to keep on trying. Your passkey is hashed with user information.
If installation of software changed user information, you will need to try and find a combination resulting in the same hash value(very slim possibility, almost impossible)
Other option: Hard Reset..
I know ths doe not help, but these are the possibilities AFAIK

i've been caught out by this... i didn't read... i THINK also swype has f-ed up my email a/c before now as well... i think you'll have to hard reset...
IMHO swype is best installed almost immediately on a new ROM/reset ROM, before any other installtions, account set up & ESPECIALLY password set up...
yes - i swore a lot too, when this dawned on me..
ALSO - you must disable your phone lock password (not SIM lock) when UNINSTALLING swype as the same thing will happen - this caught me out too!!
HTH?

ser1.2 has locked me out of my XDA

I like the idea of having a password to use the XDA, and i firmly believe that all passwords should be strong ones. As the password on the XDA is case sensitive i find i usualy need to use the on screen keyboard to type in my pass word, but my XDA has worked it self into a state where i can't change out of the transcriber to enter my password. I'm about to try a softreset but if thats whats needed this is a serious issue
when you soft reset it should put you back to the default keyboard input panel. Unless you reg hacked transcriber to be your default input, in which case all I can say is write ever so clearly and pray! :?
Make mental note: if we ever create an alternative bootloader, make sure it can wipe the OS password.
id like to know which of the programs you've installed has taken away the ability to change input method when entering passwords, i've never had it happen in normal ppc, but then i've only had a xda 7 days
oh and the reset fixed it

register problem

Hello everybody, I found a big problem here when I am going to register some softwares. Everytime I input the button 'Q' on device keyboard, it showed 'O' instead of 'Q'. So that, I could not register the softwares. Although I used different kinds of keyboard software to input, it showed 'O'. However, it just occured on registration only. Word and Excel or others are normal. Any idea is appreciated. Thanks a lot.
Hi ione!
If the q buton works in word - type it, select it, press control+c, then in the registration window press control+v. This will copy and paste the "Q" character.
Thanks for your idea.
I had done it before, it got no change. Anyway, thankyou for your kindly reply.
You ought to contact the person who write the software.
It sounds illogical. First of all, the Q and O aren't really related in terms of keyboard layout or any regional settings and stuff. It is VERY (almost impossible) the OS will make any mistake in banging Q with O. Further, if you have tried the copy-paste method, it further make sense that the software you are tryign to register is faulty. The copy-paste method will do exactly what is said, changing nothing throughout the process. If there is anything that can go wrong, I would bet it is the program you are trying to register.
Anyway, my best guess is that the software (you trying to register) is displaying the Q at a different way that it looks like an O, but in fact, that is really a Q. The problem is that, the registration code may be faulty (on other ways NOT because the Q looks like O).
Thanks hanmin.
The problem is ocurred in the similar registration page. I had two softwares with the same page. Which is not ocurred to the other. Any idea, thanks?
As I said, software problem? the software which cause the prom is causing the problem. check with the author, maybe get another reg code what doesn't need a Q
Thanks hanmin again.
I had successfully installed the softwares before and the button 'Q' was no problem. After I had refreshed the rom again (since I had to completely uninstalled some softwares), the problem occurred. That's why it drived me crasy.

password screen in htc touch

hi ,
I have an HTC Touch sync with exchange 2007.
the default settings pop up the password screen each 15 min .
does anybody know any "screenpaper" soft that may change skin this password screen? it's possible with spb shell ,but as I don't like it , it's 11 mb just for a password screen .
Any idea? S2U2 doesn't work , dockware neither
many thanks
good luck getting help. I posted this question a while ago with no answers. the only thing i have found is to totally get rid of it with a reg edit. try searching google for it if your interested. this will get rid of it and if your company doesnt enforce there policys of the password protection it will let you change it. if they do the next day it will reset and you will have to do it again or bribe your IT department to change your security settings. as far as skining it I dont think it is possible or if it is you will probably have to make a program to run over it. hope this helps.

I've been stupid - Swype and Phone Lock

Hi,
I've been stupid. The HD2 isn't the first Windows Mobile device I've owned, and I should know better than to download software off of the internet.
I downloaded Swype from a website, 1800pocketpc or something like that. I've no idea what version, but it's basically changed my phone password, so now I can't even get into my device to uninstall it.
Most of the posts I've seen online have said the only way around this is a hard reset. Can someone else see if they can give me another option (i.e if they know what Swype changes the password to, etc).
Any help would be massively appreciated!
sounds like the 3.9 version (kind of light grey?) which changes passwords on machines that dont report a t mobile base rom.
There are several threads, and like you, i haven't yet seen a sucessfull outcome that didn't include a hard reset.
If you want to play with swype (its great) look for the one ripped from the omnia.(version 2, i think, , , )
There is a version that works on the non-Tmo phones, can upload if requested.
For the problem you are experiencing, you need to replace modelname.txt in the windows directory if you can access it. I'm not sure if you mean the SIM lock or phone PIN, if its SIM you can cancel and overwrite the file; if the latter I do not know a way around it. Sorry.
I had the same with a custom ROM from here and the Swype cab to go with it. I did a hard reset and installed Swype, then set the pin code back. No problems since.

Indiscriminate dialing has to stop

hi all,
my HD2 has embarrassed me enough! it dials in my pocket and sometimes answers calls without me knowing. friends and family know too much about me already
I started to set the pin for phone use lock, but it asked my old password. what is that? well I googled for the default pwd, and found a number of threads saying dont use the pin feature, it can forget the correct pin requiring a soft and sometimes hard reset.
if I have anything wrong so far, correct me please.
ok so I want it to be hard to make the phone dial out. ever. in fact, i would like a pin to even answer a call. i dont ever ever wwant another unintended call outta this phone or it will get tossed.
otherwise its a GREAT phone and a great upgrade to my previous advantage 7500
looking for suggestions. i am a basic computer tech, but no expert and definately not a s/w developer, so please if anyone provides advise think you are speaking to a basic-skills user not a developer thank you!
So what is wrong with just using the slide lock. I have never had my phone dial out on me when it's in my pocket.
You may be right. I'm not sure how it happens. Could it be that a reminder popup, or missed call, unlocks the phone?
Also, what is the deal with the pin number feature? Is that really a flawed function to be avoided?
use S2U2...I use that one with the 'activate when phone turned on' part of it...hasn't dialed and got me in trouble since..
cool, what is S2U2, a rom? if so what are the steps to re-rom the HD2? (I did it a long time ago with the 7500 but Im sure that was way different process)

S2U2= Slide 2 lock Slide 2 Unlock.
Just google S2U2 you'll find it. I used to use it but found that it can have issues with other apps that might be loaded.
As for flashing new ROMs just start reading the stickies in the ROM development section.
hey thanks man, just loaded it. if it works i will donate a few bucks as well to the developer.
question: which apps did you find that it conflicted with?

non so far - have been using it on previous phones too and I love it!
OK I have S2U2 installed and have one question.
How can I disable the "emergency call" button? To me that feature somewhat defeats the purpose.
