What the best movie player... Also, im using tcpmp, is that the best?
Thanks
guys
yes.
8125 is excellent for watching movies. I've ripped a few DVDs that I own and watched them on the train with my 8125. TCPMP rocks and 8125 screen is killer, also a little sun resistant.
thanks for the replies guys, the video does look awesome
Playback is slow at times. is it for you guys as well. did you overclock...
im a newb here and im receiving my 8125 (which i could not select in my profile) on saturday.
should i get the media player listed above? is the built in not good?
does overclocking improve performance?
I haven't experienced any significant playback issues for MPEG4/Divx/Xvid encoded movies using TCPMP. As long the videos are encoded in the native resolution of 320x240 or below, you should be fine. Even at higher bitrates, you should be ok. For larger sized videos, I've seen some stuttering. Overclocking will improve performance. If you don't want to reencode your videos, try overclocking. It should help out a lot.
DVD Encoder Settings?
I have recently been using DVD Catalyst to encode DVD's to watch on the Cingular 8125. Some of the movies play okay and some are really choppy.
The problem is there are a lot of options to set for the encoder and minimal recommendations in the directions. Does anybody have recommendations for the following?
I'm utilizing TCPMP to watch the videos.
Codec: XVID, DIVX, WMV, etc.
Frames Per Second: They have selections from 10 - 29.97.
Kbits for Video: 100 - ????
Kbits for Audio: 16 - 300+
Sampling Rate for Audio:44100 and down from there
Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks....
Hi all,
I was wondering, from peoples personal experience, what is the best audio, video and codec setting for watching videos and movies on your Himalaya?
I have TCPMP and have been watching videos and movies for several years, but all of them are different quality, some good some bad.
Assuming I had a high quality desktop copy of a movie, what would be the best settings to transfer it down to.
IE what is the maximum quality video our XDA's can run, while still playing smoothly.
Thanks for any advice.
I've tried to play with TCMP's options, but the best solution instead of encoding every movie before putting it on the device, is to overclock it using XCPUScalar or Pocket Hack Master. Now the movies play smooth, without rencoding. I overclocked it to 590mhz. Pure pleasure
So I am using the rom in my Sig and since using Android I have been unable to play my higher quality movies. My latest example is Inception, I burned it from my DVD at 2000kbs, 29.47 fps, 128kps audio & 480x800 res. File size is roughly 2.28gb (mainly because of the length of the movie, a 90 min movie averaged about 1.1gb)
Now that may seem crazy but movies burned this way played just fine when using WP7 (never got around to switching back to WinMo to test it but I would imagine it would work), I played inception for example before switching to Android and now when using several different media players I get a "this video can not be played" error message. Nothing about the file has changed at all
Does anyone have any suggestions? Does Android have a problem with movies over a certain file size? It's encoded as h.264 mp4 using iSkysoft media burner (which is awesome btw, well worth the money)
Thanks for anyone that can help as I don't want to switch back to WP7 just to view my movies (at least until Mango is released )

download qqplayer in the market works perfect for me to watch any format videos even vob
which players have you tested?
Yup! Download QQPlayer from the market. Also make sure you overclock. I've found that overclocking results in smoother video...

VPlayer and RockPlayer also worck great
Hey,
Wondering if anyone wants to recommend me a video app for the xoom.
Ideally, play files without converting (i.e. mkvs). also optimized for larger screens.
heard about rockplayer - but apparently you cant get the paid version. dont mind paying for no ads.
in the meantime anything else?
search is your friend; endless posts about this topic in the Apps thread..
I would reccomend Rock Player. It isnt in the market so you will have to go to their site to get it. It is free and will play pretty much any video file there is.

moboplayer
I also second Moboplayer -- it's been able to smoothly play videos rockplayer couldn't handle
I gave this a try and it does play things the stock player cannot. Although it still cannot play high profile 720p files properly, still, a very good player so far.
Yeah, It still fails on 720P high prof MKVs -- it's a bummer. But it handles AVI's better than rock player(though it chokes on 5 channel audio - 6channel is fine)
Moboplayer plays my avi, xivd perfectly but has issues with audio from MKV's. Sadly, I have to install multiple video players to play my videos. I have over 5TB worth of MKV's. I'm going to have to re-encode, if I ever want to play them on my Xoom on one video player.
Act 1 video
+1 for mobo
Vital player works great

Any high profile 720p mkv file does not play with moboplayer. More specifically, it will try to play but without sound and severe stutter.
After trying numerous video apps, the best one I found is PlayOn. Early on I had issues with some video files but after updating to the latest server software, I was able to play all my video files (avi, xivd & mkv's) perfectly. PlayOn player is free but you have to pay for the server software.
I'm willing to pay if it plays all my video files w/o conversion but I found it best to convert it to the Xoom screen size & shrink down my 8GBs+ 1080p MKV's to 2GB+ for when I'm traveling or watching while eating lunch at work. I use DVD Catalyst to convert.
Hey Guys.
Just got my EeePad, in love with it so far. I know the screen is 1280x800, but is there any other specific settings to optimize the playback of Video's on my computer? I'm sure mp4/.h264 is the proper codec, but in terms of frame rate/resolution, any tips? can you make it higher than 1280x800 so it scales down? Also, how will it look best when going out of the HDMI port.
I'm using Doubletwist with AirSync right now...and think it's awesome I can beam videos' to my TV.
thanks guys, any tips would be awesome.
Check out the [GUIDE] 720p Handbrake preset for TF101 (HC3.1 Update) thread. It seems we are getting mixed results but its a good place to start
For streaming to the device I've started to use PLEX and getting happy results on my internal network but don't have the internet upload speeds to support decent quality out and about
