[Q] psfreedom for streak? - Streak 5 General

hi all.
this hype with the ps3 hack being ported to the android. can anyone post here the files, links, and intructions on how to do it for the streak if it is doable. this would really be great.
thanks in advance.

Sony released a firmware update the pwns that hack today. Probably not worth the effort.

theres a way to bypass that. so you can still keep the old firmware and use psn. its a game of cat and mouse now with sony and the hackers.
anyways, i read somewhere that we need the kernel sources to be able to do this so its a no go for the streak for now. really sad.
good this i have my iphone 3gs still laying around.

some kis are already out depending on your branding:
just look here:

Pc COmpanion Updated 3days b4 last rollout and this time its Again get update so i think in few days its READY wid new CHANGES
Or they just updated PC Companion for a totally unrelated reason
Rikard already said that the next update is in 'early 2011' so don't get your hopes up
May be just a fix for pc companion. Not the x10 itself

It's not really nice to indirectly saying some one is not smart enough for anything. Yes common sense should have been used, but there's no need to put people down for it.

There is a need.
Smart phones are only for people who are capable of using it.
why do we assume is for the x10? there are a lot of other phones out there

DLNA is the most important in the second part of the update.
I've not looked into DLNA much.. can you get DLNA adapters for "normal" TV's? how much are they?

For "normal tv" try this, look for one that support DLNA

What's the deal about no 2.2?

Yeah this is the point I'm trying to make after going through the list of new features of 2.2. The two things that most people will ever care about on froyo is faster frame rate and install to SD card, correct me if I'm wrong on this one. But I think as long as Sony is enhancing this 2.1 like they promised to, I don't see a big problem with no froyo. Comments?

flashplayer?
The deal is, if they stupidly upgrade Rachael any further, rich but stingy kids will stick to her instead of buying Xperia Arc.
If I wanted a phone with limited web browsing capabilities I'd have gotten an iphone...
Flash was a must-have in 2.2 for me. That and app2sd + increased performance. The rest I can live without

i find it funny that you say rich and stingy, so what youre trying to say? im that way? im only 17 bro but i aint that rich, im not even close to that and im not even stingy, if the Arc came out, im still keeping the X10 because its just the perfect phone for me

Case in point.
Shouldn't that be a standard for smartphones? I mean, a device with WiFi installed is meant for web-browsing. An essential to web-browsing is Adobe's Flash.
I can't even browse Sony Ericsson's own homepage because they're running Flash.
Not very smart for a 'smartphone', huh?

EXACTLY! AT&T started selling the x10 in August 2010, I got mine in October, and now they're not even selling it anymore (at least on their website). The x10 looks to be (unfortunately) a test-bed phone for Sony's intro to the android market, and those who've bought it are the guinea pigs. When the Xperia Play comes out, I'll just give my x10 to my wife and get that one. I have already made my views perfectly clear to SE AND AT&T on their facebook oages and through emails to them. They could care less though.

The Netflix service itself has not yet been activated for mobile devices due to a DRM issue and that is why the leaked apk can only assess the system. I know that the link as already been provided to my previous thread, but feel free to post any questions there and I'll try to update everyone.
Hope that helps.

that's my thought too, I think they have VZW by them now too since they're releasing the thunderbolt at $250....just gotta price it a little higher than the iphone hmmmmmmmmm. yeah this netflix drm thing sounds like a bunch of smoke.

This kind of stuff pisses me off. It is one of the main reasons that I will not get an iPhone. I have a 2nd gen ipod touch, but my wife got that as a gift and I haven't picked it up since I got my Dinc. Especially now that I'm running Protekk's CM7 Rom
I just hate when big companies corner consumers to force people to buy their products and not someone else's. Too much of that going on these days, especially in the mobile and PC markets.

Actually the issue at hand has more to do with the production companies who would love any reason to back out of their contracts with Netflix and sue them. Essentially they won't let Netflix release anything if it even has a chance of being pirated and given Android's open source nature they need hardware DRM since they can't bake in the software DRM as in iOS and WP7.
Hope that provided some clarity.
i would think there would be someway hide the fact that you are accessing it with an android phone, make it think you are on a laptop or something using silverlight. i really have no idea how this works, or what it is that tells them you are on a android device, but with all the different types of emulators seems like someone could emulate that.
I would love to blame Apple as it is so much fun, but unfortunately this is a DRM (digital rights management) issue. There is a feeling that Android devices are too open source. (laughable since the pc is the #1 route for violating that with access to torrents and p2p). The windows based phones also have netflix. Netflix itself would love to get their app on Android phones as it can only increase business, but they must get past the issue of DRM. I'm waiting patiently as well.
How ironic is it that there was an ad for Netflix in my view of this thread
Anyways, we will get Netflix. I think the demand is too high for them to ignore.

Weeeellll hello haha, I'm moving on from my beloved wildfire(piece of crap). It looks like the XP had sorta the same problem with the locked bootloader but what I don't get is how SE has named their firmwares

@Takudenatsu what do you find odd with SE FW naming? The bootloader is cracked now for all the r800 versions, though for some models you need to pay a small amount of money to have it done. All info on it her in the play section

That's all I've known when having a smartphone, LG, Nokia, HTC and now Sony Ericsson. They've all had numbers and some letters like the plays FW names. Nokia was the shortest and made sense, PR 1.x. PR = public release. It only made it to 1.3. Already 3 month after they released the N900 they stoped there Maemo platform
HTC got region, baseband and release date in it's FW names.
So there's some kind of logic to the names when released to the public.

Don't know how they go about naming them? The new one is 4.0.1.A.0.268 and the 'old' is 4.0.A.2.368.

Ohh I can remember when i had the LG the FW names started with a letter. It went from a-k as far as I remember and then those came in region and carrier versions aswell. It was a circus to find the right FW to flash lol.
Welcome aboard; if you played PSone games before you will surely enjoy this ,its PERFECT if you loved gaming/emu/retro and new android games. It totally made me throw my DS in the trash..but i'll be most likely get it out when PKMN3 comes out

its ramdom
Can someone please explain to me the difference between the different firmwares, .268, .42 and .368?
