Hi,
Since it isn't really possible to get TMC working with windows mobile on the HD2, is it possible to get it to work with android instead?
Thanks

OMG...then you're so damn wrong..mate
Currently Almar and his team are developing on porting Android to Omnia i8000 and the progress are awesome. The project is called Omnia2Droid. Below is what I extracted from the Omnia2Droid homepage!
Supported features
Android 2.1 (Eclair)
Display and touchscreen
Hardware keys
Internal and External storage
Sound and FM radio
2D/3D acceleration and brightness control/backlight
Vibrator, accelerometer and compass
Battery driver/charging
Phone
GPS
USB (ADB)
Features under development
Android 2.2 (Froyo)
Wifi (should be quite stable now)
Bluetooth
GSM data
Camera's
Possible future features
Android 2.3 (Gingerbread)
Proximity and ambient sensors
TV-Out
And the good news is they already get approval from Samsung to keep on with their project and they're gonna release the beta SOON!!!!!
By the way, improve and check your language and make sure everything you post over here are affirmed before you post'em.
Windows Phone 7 will not ever work on this device. Why? Simple, the kernel, if you will, for this device is Windows CE 5. Windows Phone 7 requires WinCE 7. Which means all hardware must be ported to WinCE 7 for it to work. And Microsoft isn;t going to do that.
The ONLY device which MIGHT get WP7 is the HD2. And I say MIGHT, since it's a tedious task to get it running with the current knowledge on XDA.
On another note: Android is actually a pretty good replacement for Windows Mobile 6.5. I've switched too and I have to say it is alot "fresher" and "finger friendlier".
Just my two cents.
I want to ask is what you said is Windows mobile 7 or Windows phone 7?
Windows Mobile 7 doesn't exsist.
Did anyone try using the software from a Navigon PND (not the Mobile Navigator) on a HD2? If so, what was your experience?
Since the base OS on both the devices is windows based and I like the routing algorithm of Navigon, I wanted to try it, but before doing that I wanted to know if anyone has already tried that.....
Hi,
Is it possible to install WM6.5 onto the Tropy instead of the present version 7?
My company does not support its email exchange software for WM7 and I do not want to get the "outdated" HTC HD2. (Android or Symbian are also not supported ) Do you think it is possible to install WM6.5 until support for the new windows will be available?
Not possible... get the HD2.
HD2 does not work on Verizon's network. I personally need something that can run windows native apps and works on Verizon's network and has a better processor than Imagio.
Does anyone know how to instal windows 6.5 or 7 to our device.
One question; why? WHY?!
WM is not opensource, so I think it is not possible to port it. You can use ROM themes and Launcher 7.
What? You wanna install WM on your ideos x5? Why would anyone do that?
It would be something different, but yeah, don't expect it.
Sent from my U8800
Why not.
i like wm also.
free aps for both operating system
some only for android some only for the wm like garmin gps
i am a simple user and i used to have wm and i could do my job.
now i have android and i can do my job.
the way i see it when i run a program and does my work i dont care what os i use.
all these i am saing is as a final user only.
if i was a developer i prefer android.
Hello everyone,
I have a new car PC - Roadnav s100, OS: Windows CE 6.0.
The car PC has the following ports:
USB for data and internet
SD card for navigation system
SD for data
AUX.
I want to install my own application on the car PC. For example install a new GPS.
But it seems that the system is "locked". There is an option to unlock the system?
By the way, Windows CE and Windows Mobile are the same technology?
Thanks !

I've noticed you want to install/run WAZE. Simply forget this, because WAZE is written to be used with smartphones (based on iOS, Android, or Windows Phone). You can't run WAZE on your Windows CE device
But you always can install/run a navigation software developed for Windows CE. Most of those in between are more than outdated. Their development already some years ago stopped.
Navigation software today mostly get developed for Android.
AFAIK, it exist in the WEB a pirated copy of iGO Primo2 (for Windows CE). Simply google for it ...
