[Q] All certificates disapear? - XPERIA X2 General

Just noticed that sometimes when I return from the lockscreen, I can't start any programs. Get a dialog box which says that "there are no certifacates, or some components of the program is missing".
And when I check the certificates in the settings->systems, there are not certificates on any level. When I restart the phone, there are a lot of certificates.
So I guess this is the problem, that the certificates disapear. Any idea of how to solve this?

It happens every week or so. I just reboot and the problem is gone...

For me it happens AT LEAST once every day, sometimes several times, so the reboot-solution (which I have to use at the moment...) feels somewhat strenuous

Lol. That may be some software causing this or the tweaks made?

How to prevent OS exiting my applications?

Hi,
I noticed that OS constantly unloads my applications.
Say, I visit some page using IE, then switch to another application, then switch back - it is usually at the same page, but, probably depending on idle time, it sporadically gets closed.
That said, when I go to IE again, it starts afresh on its initial page and I must reload my page again. Needless to say, in most cases this is unacceptable. (extra traffic, so it costs $$, also GPRS could become unavailable etc :x )
How do I PREVENT this behaviour?
Not only IE suffers, any application! Sporadically exits despite of fact there are tons of free memory and I would better free resources with another way than just closing what is required for me.
I have elder device with PocketPC 3.0 (Cassiopeia E-125) and it does NOT behave in such a way. Does not close even it has 4times less memory! Now I understand how nice it is.
While this problem persists, I forced to have both devices with me.
Please help me solving this!
Vadim.
I've noticed the same behavior randomly also. I don't have a fix, but you're not alone.
What ROM version are you using? There was an issue with the earlier ROMS in that there were too many programs running and when you launched another program the OS would terminate a background program to provide the necesssary process space.
The newer ROMs have solved this problem, but CheckNotify and ClearNotify (search the forum) will help with the earlier ROMs.
This is an old problem, related to the number of running processes.
Consult this thread
http://www.ppcw.net/?itemid=1645
which will show you how to solve it. Also the newer roms cut down on the number of processes at startup, which helps.

Mine is much more random than that described. Sometimes I can have a half dozen apps open with no problem, and sometimes a single app will close itself while I work in the phone or the Today screen.

Don't forget that we are talking processes, not appications, here. One app. may have many processes and multiple app's may use the same common processes. Therefore, launching one application can generate a number of new processes and that can push you over the limit (e.g. ActiveSync, which launches three or four I recall), so something gets nuked.
I understand, and was looking for a pattern, but there is none. In fact, it seems reversed, as it happens more often while I'm just out and about and less frequenty while the device is in the cradle. Very often it happens after a fresh boot with a single app running.
I may look at it more closely with a process viewer. It's not bugging me enough to make it a priority.
Thank you all for providing many help!

That explains it all, many fruitful comments, and a prove that there could be no fix but just temporary solutions to reduce a problem a bit.
It is a bit larger problem in my case, because I use special sotware to support Russian.
Too bad MS can't recognize and fix such a big design mistakes.

unhandled error in the shell?

Every so often I get this message:
"An unhandled error has occurred in the shell. Attempting to restart the shell."
The only thing I can do is hit OK and it restarts. This is my second wizard and the first had this problem as well. I thought that it might be the registry edit that I made to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\Rai\:WMPLAYER
I changed string 1 to replace wmplayer.exe to another program but changed it back in an attempt to fix the problem but I still get the same error.
Any ideas?
Any chance you're trying to close the programs app or the control panel (proper close, not OS minimise). This also causes such a crash.

Hi Vijay,
I am also gettign this error, except mine only seems to happen EVERYTIME I close the Program Folder.
i am runing a Vodafone VPA Compact III (TYTN)
Any Ideas on how to fix this?
Thanks.
Yes, don't close the programs folder. VJOkButt has exceptions for the Programs Folders and Control Panel and other system folders, because closing them crashes the OS.
So as Beverly Crusher would say, "don't move your arm".
V
i g3t this also
i also get this.. not all the time but when closing file explorer i dont kno what it could b?
i started getting this a few weeks back. after readuing this post i can confirm it happens when i close my "Programs" folder. what gives???
any help is appreciated
thanks
This recently started happening to me too. Until 2 weeks ago i had never seen tis, not it happens every day.
It seems to happen under different circumstances, but often when i am using Opera.
The odd thing is that i have not changed and settings or installed any new apps...
...however, i did start happening around about the time it started experimenting with over clocking. I have since stopped overclocking, but still get this.
It damn annoying, i really do not want to do a hard reset.
the hard reset will not help. I also re installed the rom and still got the same message. this is really weird.
i guess there is some file somewhere corrupted.
as I played with the phone, I realized that the HTC X button, when set to close the apps, it causes this issue. so I uninstalled it. and I get no more popups.
It has started happening to me too and I have pinpointed it to trying to close the programs folder before the icons load. Any fix available yet?

All of a sudden, alarms don't work!

Background:
ATT8525 with the ATTWM5 Rom
All of a sudden no alarm will work on this device. I have SPB Time and City Time Alarm both installed and ever since Saturday morning my daily alarms do not sound.
Thought it was a fluke at first but I've been playing with it tonight trying several different times and nothing seems to work. I even tried the built in WM5 alarm and it didn't work either.
This isn't related to the no sound issue I've inquired about in the past as right now all my OTHER sounds are working.
I've also done multiple soft resets and I've checked and double checked that my phone has the correct time and time zone.
Any ideas?
Thanks
It sounds like you have some duplicate/out of date/bad notifications in your notifications queue.
First do a full backup (just in case) then:
You need to use a 3rd party app such as Checknotifications (free), Memmaid, SK tools.
Use one of these to eliminate duplicate notifications and see if things start working again. If not, unfortunately you will have to go through each one manually. Look at the ones beginning Calendar and Clock. Make sure that the time/date for these is in the future. Delete the ones that are not. Leave alone the other notifications some of these are necessary for other processes.
See if it works now.
If not, you may have to do a hard reset. Good luck!

Thanks for the reply.
Memaid did the trip as it was a built up queue of notifications. Not sure what caused that but at least it's fixed without having to do a hard reset.
This never happened with my 8125, strange.
Also, this fixed a couple of other issues I was having.
My 8525 had stopped pairing with my automobile's BT and it did this morning, and the last few days the phone and stopped doing the first active sync of the day (at 0700) automatically. It did this morning.
Looks like I may check into purchasing Memaid. It's a handy little program.
I have to admit, it's one of the first apps on any device I own. Especially now that it has a reg editor too.
Beware, you may need to do the notifications queue clearout quite frequently, just keep an eye on it for a day or 2. I've found that if you use windows live mobile, this puts 3 or 4 duplicates on your system at every soft reset! Don't you just love microsoft applications?

Gee I wonder if the iPhone's have to do this?
Sorry, couldn't resist.
They probably would have to if they were allowed to install 3rd party applications!

Oh thank you.
At first I thought you all were just ganging up on my since I'm across the pond from you all. <G>
Kinda back to my original question.
What is up with the Notification Queue? I currently have 37 "time based" entries. A few of these are obvious. But I have a whole mess named "\\.\Notifications\NamdedEvents\Scripts:0x0023B3D0" and a couple of dozen more with similar hexadecimal(?) endings.
They are all "dated to run" on September 26, 2007 at various times of the morning.
The thing is, nothing is in my calender on that date. So what in the world are those entries? Are they safe to delete?
Thanks
Don't mind us, if you play with Windows mobile, you just have to have a laugh as often as possible (makes up for all the crying!).
On your alarms/reminders/notifications etc, do you have the setting on for 'flash light'? If so, do you have this set for no limit? If so, I think these are your scripts as above. If they are set as no limit, I think they go on for around 40 days or so. So probably they relate to an event 40 ish days before 26 September.
They might also relate to some other software you are running. I understand TomTom puts some strange notifications in.
If so, they are PROBABLY fine to delete. As long as you do a full backup before touching them, then if it all goes pear shaped, just restore your backup.
Whatever you do, don't touch the repllog.exe entries. These relate to activesync and if you delete these, you will have a lot of trouble with synchronising.
If, however you do accidentally delete a repllog file that you should't, Mike has written an excellent guide on how to get it back!

Thanks. I think the message notification thing is the reason. I do have the flash light checked and their seems to be a correlation between the entries and the number of messages I currently have in OL.
Thanks again for all the help!
Hopefully I can return the favor sometime.

I hope by now you have solved your (our) problem. I was able to fix my problem by installing a free program from Burr Oak called Wakeup Tweak.
I never ever RAN the program - I just installed it. During installation, it asked me if I wanted to use default notifications and I said yes.
I then tested an appointment alarm (before running Wakeup Tweak) and the alarm worked.
Hey there... I used to have the same problem under WM5 (I think it was a known fault and the idea was to fix that for WM6). My reminders didn't work, and my alarm, initially came on but I could not dismiss it, and so came back on the moment I switched my phone back on etc. I found that using Pocket Mechanic and then deleting all 'clock.exe' entries i which have the word obsolete added under the type column solves the problem. I think some people have experienced problems doing this and it messed up their device. I, personally, never had any problems but you may want to back up things just in case. Again, it's not a long-term solution and I had to do that every couple of weeks. The deleting of duplicate notification did not, for me, restore reminders etc. I have to say ever since I upgraded to WM6 I have not had this problem so I guess Microsoft fixed this issue.

sERVICES.EXE PROBLEM

i believe this error appears if one changes default location of htc shortcuts /or shortcuts in start menu ......
how ever reverting short cuts does not solve problem ...and some icons of shortcuts lost like in my case htc calender icon is lost ....
now services .exe error is coming again on every reboot ...
so any one can confirm this scenario ....
I have the same problem. No idea why at this point
Can anyone help please?
Thanks in advance!
MadSci
I also get this message but it doesnt seem to affect anything.still a pain in the arse though.....
It affects something...when Service.exe problem occurs, you need to reboot your phone, otherwise you are not able to receive SMS messages!
I have had this occur on a few occasions after messing with software. Can't say it caused any problem other than the annoying boot up message. Only a hard reset ever resolved it.
My experance with Services.exe
I found that i always, and only ever get services.exe error on boot up when i have TouchTools installed and the only way to fix it is to hard reset!!
Not come across this before, but can tell you I move all my short-cuts around when I have flashed a ROM and I never had this happen so nothing to do with that,
couple for you to have a look through

like demon_man said, i've moved all the htc shortcuts (and lost a few) also have touchtools installed and have never had this error, I know that doesn't help you guys but I don't think its caused by either of those 2 things.
It seems it has to do with the installation of more than one app without performing a soft reset.
If you always perform a soft reset after installing an application you can minimize the risk of getting this error, maybe you can even avoid the error.

cleanRAM problem/Annoyance

Hey there guys, just a quick one for ya.
Has anyone come across a problem with HTC Addicts cleanRAM?
when i click the the icon to clean it starts the process but then runs my email application(default HTC app) also.
It started doing this yesterday with no changes made to my registry or other device settings.
I've tried un-installing the program and then re-installing but i still get the same (annoying) result.
Has anyone else encountered this? and if so do you know of a fix?
Many Thanks

Well, for me, when I run the Level 3 purge, it takes me to the dial-pad screen for a few seconds. Never really bothered me though...
dial pad
level 3 takes me to dialpad also, wierd, but works ok,,
I also get this with Level 3.
...and for me as well.
This is just how it goes with cleanram. If you have done a customized process list than I would suppose thats why it's bringing up your email because it's purging anything in your list so if it's not running already it will bring it up to purge it to make sure it's not in the memory anymore.
Yea the thing is, i haven't ran a custom purge, i just do Level 3, and it doesn't just pop up, it keeps it open :s Thats why it was annoying for me, doesn't look like there is any kind of fix, just something we have to live with. Thanks for your input!
same here
I think I have the problem that after Cleanram, My Contacts and Programs wont open at all. Then calender says Error: Not enough program memory to start program...
This is a great tool but it keeps doing this to me...
I do a level one purge or 2, same thing happens..
any ideas?

Don't use Clean RAM, lol. It's not like you need to use it. I have 576Mbs enabled and I never use Clean RAM, most of the RAM used is just cache so your most commonly use programs will open faster if you don't use it.
I've never got any slow down from not using it.
