I have an O2 pay monthly contract in the UK. I have an unlocked Hermes TyTn that was originally a Vodafone 1605. I have since upgraded the ROM to be the latest HTC WWE English version.
The problem I have both before and after the ROM upgrade is that I can received MMS messages but the image always arrives as 160x120 (pretty much thumbnail size) size image regardless of the original sending size.
I have checked settings many times but have read that the problem could be that Iam using O2 servers but they do not have my device in their database of supported handsets so when sending on the MMS message they resize the image to the smallest size to ensure that it can be viewed.
Could this be true and if so how would I get around this? I have been searching for an O2 XDA Trion (English) ROM which I assume would help but cannot find one.
Any suggestions much appreciated. Thanks.
Well i have a question i been looking on how to increase the current size of mms right now the max is 248k and also i tride sending a mms i press new mms on the messaging tab but nothing show up i am currently using binky11s rom 3.8 well thanks an advance
Are you sure that this is not a limit set by your operator?
Both my local operators allow VGA sized photos not larger than 100 KB and then they shrink these to thumbnails at 20 KB in size on the receiving side.
It's probably operator set. I use a Hermes on AT&T in the US and our maximum MMS size is 600k.
ok i flashe a different rom and now my new mms size is 600k the only promble is kind of slow does any one recommend a different rom the works with att/ cingular the roms i flash are bink11s diamond but binky11s mms dont work and diamond i am having difficulties getting apps to minimize thanks and advance
I've always had a terrible time with the MMS on AT&T. At least half of the time it will sit there forever trying to send it and then time out. It can get extremely aggravating.
When i receive an MMS the picture is really small.
It is scaled down because the unbranded HTC Diamond 2 use a standard
MMS-profile. Branded ones seem to have better settings.
Hey, users of O2 or T-Mobile Diamond 2 what profile do you have in the registry
at that location ?
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Arcsoft\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\WspHeader: x-wap-profile
For unbranded ones it is:

Thanks for your assistance

haven't tried them yet but I will do, let us know how you got on.
1st of all I know that manila 2.5 has mms issues. I kinda have mms working but here's the problem.
I'm using the latest energy rom with 2.5 and 6.5, and I have installed "MMS Fix (M2.5) (General) (Valkyrie)". Mms is working both ways in and out but the mms size limit seems to be altough I have set it to 300kb which is my network providers max value..
Anyone experiencing the same and maybe has a solution to this?
Thanks in advance for your answers!
2.5 and mms doesnt go together well....thats why i dont use 2.5.
Any way to disable manila 2.5 messaging and use wm's instead??
I'm going crazy with the question of the MMS in this build of American Android. I'm from Spain and my phone company Telstra (yoigo). I tried everything I've read but can not send or receive MMS. The APN is correct. Not if the problem is the build or in Spain we have to change any line of buildprop. I would appreciate answering me to post it in my country.
Thanks
make sure max message size is not set above 300k
ROM default mismatch some APN data.
Try correct your APN data.
For example, in my case: MMSC rom defaul was h t t p://202.222.042.204:8002
but MMS only starts to work using h t t p://202.222.42.204:8002
Follow and type your APN data.(the correct one for your country and carrier etc)
Look carefully for any differences betewen rom default and carrier request.

The APN is correct. I have no problems with other builds. I come to think that only works in U.S.A. so I tried to change the DNS in the buildprop. This has not solved the problem. I connected and disconnected and have exclusive 2G connection on and off wifi as I read in a previous post. Neither works. Thanks for the reply. Can you think of something else?

i dont just mean teh message is actually smaller than 300k, i mean that the setting 'max mms size' is set to 300.
I cant find this particular setting in my rom, lol, but ive seen it given as a solution twice recently, I suspect the roms in question are using the tmobile 1000k default size, and those threads have reference to a max mms size setting in their mms settings screen.
reference one two

OK. I'll get the option to change the size and tell you. Thanks for the quick response

Sorry, I found the option in GO SMS, but not in the messaging program of build
Any other ideas?
I love this build. The only problem I've found are the MMS. Maybe it is a problem that must be solved by CyanogenMod guys

MMS requires Mobile Data on
Hi,
I can send and receive MMS as long as Mobile Data is on. However, adding a MMS APN does not work; when Mobile Data is off, MMS can't be sent or received.
I've verified the Netcom Norway MMS APN settings to be correct, and this works on my LeeDroid 2.2.1 configuration. For Cyanogenmod, this does however not work. I've verified this both on my DHD (CM 7.0.0) and HD2 (CM7RC4).
Too bad, as I configured the HD2 for my gf, but she does not have a data plan...

I can also confirm on hy Desire GSM on Telstra running CM7 stable that you can only send/receive MMS if mobile data is enabled.
Can anyone say if this standard/expected behavior for Android roms on Telstra?
Today i had a problem where i couldn’t send MMS messages using my SGS Android phone. Im currently running Cyanogenmod nightly 181 so i went looking for a fix.
This is what worked for me:
1. Download root explorer (It costs a few $ from the market, but well worth it) or an equivilent and give it root priviledges.
2. Locate the following file, telephony.db: /data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/telephony.db
and
/data/data/com.android.providers.telephony/databases/mmssms.db
3. Rename the file. (e.g xxtelephony.db.xx) or delete it (I deleted it)
4. Restart your phone
5. Now try sending an MMS.
That solved my problem and i can now send MMS messages again. This fix may also work for other roms, so give it a try if you’re experiencing problems.
I had the same issue in my Desire S (Saga) with CM7. Send/Receive MMS only with enabled Data APN. I tried to delete the telephony.db and restarted my phone. After the reboot mms works fine, but they set my Data APN back to default (i renamed the apn to be sure that the data connection is disabled). I renamed it again. After the reboot also the telephony.db is back.
My first test was positiv, i now can send / receive MMS. Hope that this will not change.
