Sure, open up the App Drawer, then go to "Settings", "SD card & phone storage", then tap on "Unmount SD card".
Press home, tap on market icon, search for Angry Birds, install it, wait till its done.
Go to the App Drawer again, "Settings", "SD card & phone storage", then tap on "Mount SD card".

thanks for the hint but... I'm a newby and how can I do it?
Thanks a lot, pal!
I guess it's Settings -> SD-Card and Storage -> Eject SD-Card (or something like that, my phone is set to german so no idea what it says there in english) but can't try atm.
done but... the game still doesn't install...
"Oh well, whatever, nevermind..."
yep, still won't install. same goes for Fruit Ninja, just tells me that installation failed, no further notes or explanations. and raging thunder 2 freezes my phone completely.
ok got it:
unmount sdcard -> install game -> mount sdcard
Hy there people, yeah i know it s boring those app that wont install.
The thing is not in mouting and unmounting sd in settings, i ve tried
a lot of things but noting works, except changing my custom rom.
I used froyostone rom the one with no sense clock can be found on forum.
I never could install angry birds and others app or games, even if i downloaded
the file via pc and put it on my phone with droid explorer.
So i changed to an other rom the one with cyanogen builds, yeah it work
for me to install angry bird lite, but got much other apps that wont install. But those same apps worked on my froyostone rom.
So i guess there are some settings missing in those custom roms so that it make
it possible to install everything..... be patient or buy a second sd card one where you install froyosense with an older 3d patch in it (yeah if i bench froyostone i got a worse benchmark than with cyanogen based rom) and one the
second card install an other vustom rom if you want to install apps that dont
work with froyo...
Ehmmm by the way does somebody know if there is a patch boosting froyostone
rom 3D because i got i a difference of 200 points when i use cyanogen based rom???

I could still access it when going to the lowest directory level and then going to the sdcard folder. seems the card is not really unmounted, just for the system but you can still access it with astro:
press "Up" until it goes no further, then scroll down to "sdcard" and voila.

Amazing graphics on HD2 ))

I can't get this to install no matter what I do. I've tried DLing it from the market, DLing the apk to my card & installing it that way, but it just will not work. Unmounting the SD card doesn't work either. Has anyone gotten this to install on Shubcraft?
Unmounting the card worked for me as well. make sure you are doing it in the right order as the previous posts
Unmount the card
Install game
remount card
A lot of people were unmounting, remounting and then installing
Instructions work.
I was unable to find the file after unmounting. However, as suggested, clicking to the lowest level in Astro and selecting SDCARD revealed the contents. The SDCARD shortcut in Astro did not work, had to navigate as mentioned.
Hi,
Worked for me (umount sd / install through Market / remount) with the final version (released yesterday !)

Great solution, thanks!
This really does work for me! i read somewhere else that suggested to do:
rm /mnt/secure/asec/etc etc etc... but that didnt work...
glad to know there was an easier alternative.
As the title suggests, the full version of this game was finally released today. BEWARE, THE SITE KEEPS CRASHING DUE TO THE NUMBER OF HITS:
http://www.getjar.com/
but there are different versions for different android phones and I still haven't found the right one! The fact that the site keeps crashing due the volume of people trying to get the game means that I have only been able to download 2 versions, the desire version and the desire z. I don't even know if there is a version that will work for us yet but, if anyone has the right apk for the HD2 then please post it here.
Thanks

+1 I also have the same problem. I have a stock nexus one rom by tytung, and I cant get this game to work. Any solutions?
It is also in the market. I am downloading it now.
my question might be a bit off topic (don't want to create another thread), sorry about that, i have read in several threads that i need to unmount and then mount my sd card to install angry birds. just wanted to know how that unmounting/mounting procedure will affect the files in my sd card. basically, is there a possibility to loose all the data/files in the sd card? cheers
Yep,
They've released it in the market now so all is good.

I haven't had any problems with mounting/remounting my card. That's not to say that it's impossible to encounter some data corruption but I think you should be fine.

you also have to do this for some apps like Google Sky Map and Gameboid, it never effects the files on your SD card.

as far as I know its not actually unmounting the card, obv we're running android from the card so therefore all sorts of problems would occur no??
I think it just pretends to unmount the card......
not entirely sure though....
Either way, Ive never had any issues.
Also unmounting drastically improves the speed of marketplace downloads......
Not been able to install this bloody game though........... about to try unmounting.
Ive been told it can be installed via ADB, however this involves dl'ing the entire android SDK....... all for a 12meg game about bloody birds........
anyway..... lol
Is there any website to download this game and then install it? I download it fine but installation is unsuccessful ...

Method 1: Go to settings and unmount your SD card. Then open the Market and Download and Install Angry Birds, this will be succesfull and afterwards you can mount your SD Card again.
Method 2: Download Angry Birds (http://www.mediafire.com/?6e1yfy5yg6912nk) and copy it to your SD Card. Next, move the file from the SD Card to internal memory with ASTRO or any file manager. You can place it in the 'cache' folder or something like that. Then unmount your SD card, go to the folder and install the .apk. After the installation is complete, you can mount your SD card again
P.S. Unmounting your SD card will not shut down your Android or make you lose any settings/features. You can safely mount and unmount the SD Card

It'd be nice to get SD Card to unmount on my hd2 with mccm 1.5 build :/ ...
It says unmounting in progress and that's about it - never unmounts it and if I exit and come back to settings - shows option available to unmount - so no angry birds for me
I am getting unsuccessful installation.

But it cant apply to us since we CANT UNMOUNT SD CARD since Android is on it.
So what are you guys doing to make it work?
you still can un mount your card with android running.

Or use the new Hastarin kernel 8.2
When Android boots up, it puts Android into the RAM rather than run off the flash card. Unmount the SD card after boot, install the app, then re-mount it. Then all is fine!

USB Mass Storage mode CANNOT work - the phone runs Android off of the SD, hence the SD needs to be mounted for Android to work. Just in WinMo when the SD is unmounted from WinMo when you plug it in, the exact same thing would happen in Android - and then Android wouldn't be able to function... make sense?
You can use ADB with USB, but that is it. It's useful for debugging...

Anyuhow, Thank you guys. Worked like a Charm
just install kernel 8.2 ( put sd card in pc , copy zimage and folder called root in to your android folder )
Thanks everyone
Try changing the Android ROM,,,, I'm using the Mdeejay_FroYo_Sense_v._2.3_Clean its the best one so far.... no prblm no lagging,,, its working great!!
Hi all. I tried different Gingerbread builds. As much as I like it, some apps/games are not compatible, such as Angry birds is one of my favorates. So, do you know when or how to make them compatible with Gingerbread? Also, do we have any MIUI on gingerbread?
Thanks,
AzN
For Angry Birds, unmount your sdcard then download. Remount your sdcard and you should b good to go.

are you using gingerbread on nand? if you are and are using apps2sd, go to settings/applications/manage apps and move angry birds to phone. unmounting and mounting sd card is a workaround for sd builds.
I am using NAND. I unmount card, installed the game, mount card back and moved to SD.
When I unmount and try to install Angry Birds it says that the file doesn't exist. That's because it's on the SD card but since I'm using the SD method I can't put it on the phone so what can I do now??

guys, seriously? first thread, fifth post
looks like it's a problem with /sdcard/.android_secure/, either delete that folder or unmount sd card > install angry birds > re-mount sd card

Looked at them already!
I had to format the memory card on my pc, and then do a hard reset of my phone, now it will install and work np but sadly i got the pain that is reinstalling all software...
first try to delete the folder mentioned above.
if that doesnt help and you're using win7, it could help to use win7's repair function.
if not, you could reformat it, that should work.

mate its already done as i posted above, just finishing installing copilot on the card and im good to go!
I had the same issue for sometime. I have deleted all the system created folders from the SD Card. Then I was able to install it.
