[Q] Help! MMS problem - XPERIA X10 General

Sorry if this is the wrong section...
I stupidly uninstalled messaging 1.6 with titanium and now I can't send MMS messages (I assume I can't receive them either).
The option to restore in titanium is greyed out.
I don't want to have to do a system restore.
If I click on market link in titanium, it shows up as com.android.mms
Can anyone help?
Thanks

Well, after failing even with root manager, I finally succumbed and did a reinstall with the Sony PC Companion software.
Hope my idiocy saves others from the same strife

Recovering contacts

I've upgraded from 1.6 to 2.2 (custom ROM, of course). Before i updated it, i made 2 copies: one with mybackuppro and other with Titanium Backup. Now, in 2.2 i cannot recover the contacts.
MBP says: "You do not have a google account setup". but I already have setup correctly my account (i installed MBP and Titanium from the market)
Titanium Backup says "All correct" but it doesn't restore the contacts
So i want to know how i can open the backup files with the computer to recover the contacts and copy them manually.
Thanks
PS: I will have no internet access since next friday. It's not to make you run. It's just that if you answer later i will see it when i recover my internet conection, so i will not say nothing until then.

Titanium Backup Won't restore Market apps?

Hey I know this was probably posted before but I searched everywhere and I couldn't find info about this. I had some corrupted files and had to reinstall android ( here is the original post with the problem, it was solved http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=782615). I used Titanium backup to batch backup all my apps, It did. I reinstalled android, and went on the make a restore from my backup in Titanium. It did restore all the apps that came with froyostone and all the previous settings and things like the theme... but it did not install my market downloaded apps. In the program itself, it shows that there is a backup, but the apps are in grey and they say [not installed] before them (For example [not installed] amazon). It doesn't let me restore the app it only allows me to delete it. What do I do? can't find anything please help me guys!
Appreciate all the help,
Danny

[Q] solid solution for backing up sms AND mms

hi,
I've been searching the internet for quite a while now in a search for an application that will backup my sms AND mms messages.
Yes, I know about backing up to gmail, but when I need to restore it - it doesn't restore mms, it only does sms and I need BOTH.
I have mms messages that are very important to me since sometimes I write messages longer than 4 sms, it just doesn't matter to me how long is it so I end up with sending mms quite a lot of times. It is because of that it is very important for me to find a solid application that backs up mms along with ordinary sms.
I am doing this because when I update to 2.3.3. all of those messages will be lost and I want to have them in my phone at all times. Any good and working suggestions please?
Also, I have tried Android Sync Manager today and it says it backed up all the messages but when I go and try to restore them it says that restore failed (after the progress bar fills up), could that be because none of the messages has been deleted? I think that it should back them up even if they haven't been deleted, it's not like the program cares if I have 2 of each message right? So does ASM actually work and I'm supposed to update without being afraid for my mms and sms because it will restore once all messages are deleted or it doesn't work and you have a better solution?
Thank you

does it work on android 2.1? I need to back them up on 2.1 and then restore when I'm on 2.3.
Also sorry if this is in the wrong section, it's just that the description "Discussion about the Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 (tips & tricks, etc)" seemed nice to me to ask the question here since I'd say I'm asking for a tip/trick
You have backup and restore on 2.1. On 2.3 install the 2.3 version and restore.

[WORKAROUND] Can't defrost frozen apps with titanium backup on KL7

Took me some time to find a solution, a lot of googling,
eventually I found this magic post
And I thought it deserves a better spotlight.
1. Copy /data/system/packages.xml to your PC. (or edit it somehow...)
2. Edit it, find the line with your app name that looks something like :
Code:
<package name="com.sec.android.app.samsungapps" codePath="/data/app/com.sec.android.app.samsungapps-1.apk" nativeLibraryPath="/data/data/com.sec.android.app.samsungapps/lib" flags="1" ft="134880eb380" it="11b7e237e00" ut="134880eb753" version="26114" userId="10039" enabled="false">
3. This line freezes samsung apps, which I wanted to desfrost to make S-Choice work. Change the false, to true > Save.
4. Copy the file back to the phone.
5. Contact titanium backup author and report this bug.
Reboot, Enjoy.
PS - I did not find the solution myself, I am just making a solution found by olympicchicken More readable and searchable.
I too have been having the problem with not being able to unfreeze system apps. What worked for me is to uninstall the frozen app from within Titanium BU (be sure to have a backup before uninstalling). Then just reboot and was able to restore the app through Titanium BU.
Don't know if it made any difference but I had done the app backup in Titanium before I froze it in the first place.

I didn't backup any of the system apps I froze before freezing, hence if I would have deleted them, I would have been deleting the only apk copy i had of them.
Could somebody please check their /data/system/packages.xml for the line referencing "com.sec.android.app.controlpanel" (Task Manager) and post this entire line for me?
I've stupidly uninstalled it and TB can't restore it from backup as the line is missing.
Cheers.

Even if you have an app frozen you can still select backup. Then uninstall the app, reboot, and restore the app.

That didn't work as TB just hangs when trying to restore. I don't have a nandroid backup so if someone can post that line then I can at least fix it manually.
A simpler way to locate the particular line is by searching for "false" will keep showing all the frozen apps ) much faster too
I can confirm the uninstall and restore method worked for me..
I had frozen all three samsung app services(app, account, una) and I wanted to unfreeze them because of the free Dead Space and Modern Combat offers and I couldn't unfreeze them..
So as they were already frozen I made a back up of them, uninstalled them, reboot and restore them.. Worked like a charm..
Thanks guys.
I also try to contact the TITANIUM BACKUP developer informing about this bug... but not update avaible for the moment!
The file-edit method did not work for me. However, the uninstall/restore did. You have to convert system apps to user apps to backup them first, but it's quick and easy.
Possible solution
Hi guys,
Check out this test version of TB and try the "power defrost" feature in Batch menu. Hopefully it will help

[Q] Transfer messages Samsung to Cyanogen

Hello. I just installed Cyanogen 12.1 on my S4 and I cant restore my messages. I cant add Samsung account but I did a backup of my default messages app, joyn by telekom with TB. I restored app+data, but it just installed app, the messages are still missing.
Any help is appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
You would of needed to make a backup of 'Messages (SMS & MMS)' it's listed in yellow and as a XML type in TB. So if you haven't, then you've lost them.

I should have them in my Samsung account. It's no way that I can access them?
If they're on your Samsung account I can only thing I can suggest is to re install a stock rom, restore the messages and then do a local backup.
