So I am running stock 1.6 on AT&T streak but very tempting to OTA upgrade to 2.1 via the O2 dell mobile update link that was released few days ago (update via browser). Can this harm the phone for the future AT&T release of the update?

In Canada with an unlocked beta streak currently running O2s 2.1 build 8023. Not sure what the new build update is but i'll know shortly.

From Monday 4th October there will be an over the air (OTA) update making it's way to T-Mobile branded Wildfires. This update will improve the general stability of the 2.1 operating system.
Watch out for it coming your way from Monday.

It'll prob be the 1.25.405.1 update (we're still on 1.14.xxx) If i install this would I loose root?

thanks for the info OP, i've been getting so annoyed with the phone randomly crashing and restarting. Although I think I'll do my research today and backup the original ROM and put on the 2.2 puzzle roms available. Need to root my new PS3 anyway
Ok, don't think this has been asked before, but if it has - firstly very sorry and secondly I just can't find a clear answer!
- What do you need to be running to be able to receive and install the official 2.2 update when released on an O2 locked Streak?
Since buying my Streak I have subsequently upgraded from the official 1.6 to Steves 2.2 v 1.1 possibly 1.1.1, I'm guessing I have changed the baseband as I don't recall what it was originally (currently 20321-EU and the kernal is 2.6.32.9)
I'm guessing I will need to downgrade to an old official version of Android but what too, and with what baseband?

Since nobody has actually been able to try it yet, nobody can say for sure what you'll need except that it needs to be unlocked v00 to get the earliest release.

This stock recovery baseband you talk about is that what I'm currently running - 20321-EU???
That's the O2 baseband, your update will be in December with the rest of us.

So does that mean I will still receive the OTA update without having to downgrade to 2.1 or 1.6 even with all the unofficial upgrades I've done???

as i mention in first post its 2.1 not 2.2 you have to downgrade it to 2.1 official
Hi, I've been using my Droid2Global and successfully updated to Gingerbread OTA.
I was so fond of it so I encouraged my girlfriend to get the Droid series,
and she got Droid Pro (apparently she is more of a BlackBerry type)
She's been using it in the USA for couple of weeks and then she brought it back to S. Korea (in Asia, in case it matters) (She is Korean)
and she's been using it for more than a week now and still hasn't got any update notification.
I understand it's been about a month since the release and it takes a while for it to reach some of the users.
I was just curious if everybody's got their updates (or at least an OTA notification even if you didn't want to install it)
Should I do something about it? or should I just wait for the update to come automatically?

So I have a German Note from amazon.de - so should be able to get the upgrade to 2.3.6 - so tell me why the mac software cannot upgrade the FW. IS there a workaround, will this upgrade get OTA or shall I wait for ICS which will get an OTA? Any advice on how to get it with out needing a PC be great ;-)
