[Q] Stable manilla Rom - Mogul, XV6800 General

I have an Att tilt. Which I am running the Tpc v11 Manilla rom. my rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=519715
A friend of mine has a sprint mogul and really liked the tpc rom. So I was wondering what is the closest sprint mogul manilla rom that is stable to use everyday. I think he would prefer 6.5 But if mogul does't offer a really good 6.5 I am sure 6.1 would be fine.
He won't know how to flash back, so I need to get him one that will not give him problems. He texts, talks, uses data a good amount. I know some roms have a problem with messaging and such.
Thanks for any advice.

Moved to general as not rom development.

benfits of cooked ROM VS HTC ROM

I'm new to the world of playing with my PDA/PPC phone. I've had a treo for several years before upgrading to the PPC6800. Prior to getting my PPC in Aug I worked with whatever was standard on the phone. Nothing at all extra. I've been learning and reading since Aug and have learned A LOT! But I am still confused as to the point of using a cooked ROM. What's the purpose? The benefit? My phone works fine now as it is. I have tons of programs installed and running 18-20 free memory during the course of the day. Would a new ROM increase my free memory? Sometimes while running A_Cs S2U2 in the background and having PIE open my memory will drop to 3-8mb free. I simply close out PIE and stop S2U2 using ilock.exe and memory comes up to about 14-16mb. Would upgrading the ROM change that? I hope I have made sense! And thanks so much for all the helpful information here.
Yes many cooked ROMs are lite ROMs so some of them will allow you a little more memory. But I dont recommend using a cooked ROM. I used a cooked ROM on my ppc 6700, Treo 750, TyTN II and heck I even customized the ROM in my 650 but every time you have any little glitch your always going to wonder if it is because you hacked into that area that is ment for only official updates. Even If you revert back to the OEM ROM you are always going to wonder if an issue is related to tampering with the ROM. Using a cooked ROM can allow you to run faster and smoother with no carrier [email protected] The community here is full of talented engineers that do an awesome job but once you tamper with the ROM your always going to kinda feel like you may have jacked something up. I ebayed my TyTN II and I regret flashing it with a cooked ROM. I just got the Titan and I wont be deflowering that "never the same again", area.
Cooked Rom
I was using the Sprint ROM, but it's garbage compaired to the new DCD ROM. Keep in mind nothing ruins a phone worse than installing apps that always run... i.e. HTC home customizer, sms threading apps, etc...
internal gps...nice
Well I sold my Kaiser and bought a Titan.......... I said I wasn't going to use a custom ROM again............ I made it for 1 week before flashing my Titan......
I couldn't resist the lure of tethering without a plan, getting full use of the GPS and threaded SMS that actually works right!!!! dcd is kickin @$$!!!
There is a parisite that is sometimes transmitted from uncooked roms.. or was that pork.

Looking for DCD

Hey I am looking for a dcd rom for a Sprint Mogul/ppc6800 that has touch flo 3d, AGPS, and Audible text messaging. Does anyone know of any out there with those features? Thanks
As of now there is no TouchFlow3d running on Titan that is at all usable. TouchFlow2d (Manilla) is your best bet, and runs very well on a Titan.
Scott Crosslers rom has most of the features you are looking for, however aGPS is not specific to any rom, as the rom flash itself can't enable or disable it. You have to do it via QPST.
As for the audio text messages, I believe MSVC will do this and can be installed on pretty much any rom as well.
Let me know if you have any other questions, or look for scrossler r4r rom. He has a kitchen, and it's based on DCD's rom, so you get the best of everything in it.

Im on Sprint as well and so far the best/most stable has been NFSFAN's custom ROM
WDM (Whosdaman) has a good ROM as well but he hasnt worked on it for some time but very stable
Others are out there as well constantly working and tweaking them but the goal is to find one that works for you and is stable (it is a phone and internet device after all and should be able to work as such without tons of adding and tweaking on your part if you just want a phone/net interface)
ROMs are a personal thing and you may want to try a few, but his is what I use on my phone and my wifes phone and she loves it, quick, stable and very up to date
give it a shot and see for yourself

Is my touch HD slower than others?

Ok, I use Topix all the time, so I am used to speed and smoothness. (Thanks KWBR!)
But I am trying some WM 6.5 roms with Manila 2.5 and they are all so frikkin slow! But when they sum up the features of the ROM in their start post, it says tweaked for perfomance, smoothness, etc.
But damn, they are all so slow...
EDIT: Have a look at this movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1qj6Y7XnC4I
It's on a touch pro 2, but much smoother! Same hardware no?
The video is for HTC Leo - 1Ghz CPU...

But is the device a leo then? I believe they only do a PREVIEW of the Leo's manila, but just on a touch pro 2?
The ROM looks like EnergyROM
yep, its flashed onto a Touch Pro 2. Somehow Diamond2 and Touch Pro 2 look more responsive in manila.
i have blackstone and tp2 both with nrgz leo from 23-09-09 and i personali think the tp2 is much faster and way more responsive dont know how this comes
maybe because of different motherboard ot other chipset
try Dutty's Leo R4 at htcpedia.com....it works great on the HD, only thing is it doesn't have twitter
When I tried Miri ROM with Manila 2.5 all were slow because Manila 2.5: now I'm using Manila 2.1.
Maybe I'll try Manila 2.5 when Official Version will be released with few bugs.
D'rath
currently using miri's latest rom and it is quite responsive but with some minor bugs!! but still a great rom..
what are the Energy ROMs like?? i havent tried them due to complains about battery life i think!!
Forget WM 6.5 on Touch HD
Pfff, last week I was bored on an hotel room and saw a lot of new ROMs from Dutty, Miri, PDAviet, Laurentius26... I had tried ROMs from them for Kaiser, so I gave them a chance.
No way man, all WM 6.5 ROMs are so slow and diffiicult to use... in most of them something fails, QuickGPS / Power properties / Twitter tab / Opera 9.7 text reflow...
I'm back to HTC stock ROM and that's speed, and everything works as expected. I suppose Touch HD 2 with a CPU twice as fast and new drivers, can handle Manilla 2.5 better, but for the moment, I do not see any advantage...
btw i think there is speedy m2.5 on blackstone
well im using nrgz ''leo'' series and i have to say i can use it for everyday
(but tp2 feels a little faster)
not everything works ok as it should like i cant get my location to work(but i can set it up manualy so i use that for the weather on homescreen
installes zenyees cab(really thankfull for this) to disable htc messaging
and further i use the speedtweaks from wvga tweak
for the so called battery problem i get two days by putting the light on automatic and normal use 5 or 6 message and a few phone calls and a litlle interneting
so eveything is fine for me with nrgroms
And I am back again to Topix 3.0
The only ROM series that impresses...

I tried Dutty's Leo R4 ROM and found it to be a little sluggish for me, so I went back to Stock ROM like yourself, but then I thought I'd try Dutty's v4.3 WM6.1 ROM with Manila v2.1 after reading some good reviews and I'm glad I did - it's much better than Stock in my opinion and I find it runs quicker in everything.
Plus I quite like the new Calendar tab in Manila v2.1
MOD EDIT
Move to General Discussion as not related to rom development
Tried Dutty and PDAViet's version of Manila 2.5 with 6.5 and found them to be way to slow for everyday use.
Now i'm with the Energy ROM one and it's a lot better, it's faster and more stable.
people .. ive flashed almost every rom out there .. if u really want manila 2.5 try mirri winmo 6.1 with manila2.5 its much faster then any winmo 6.5 rom, but i am back to stock rom witn spb mobile shell 3 installed believe me ppl its much better graphically and responsive then is manila 2.5
vcespon: pfff, speak for yourself dude.
I would never go back to a stock ROM.

how can i have sense (weather) on my tp2 using only winmo 6.1

Hi,
my os is still winmo 6.1 and i don't really want to upgrade to 6.5 yet (because the next g rom isnt out yet and i dont want a different version). but i do like the htc sense UI with the weather in the middle of the time animated and the colourful task icons.
i want something like this:
http ://www . redmondpie.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/HD21.jpg
is it necessary to upgrade to 6.5 to have this? or can i have it and still have 6.1?
thanks
Jackos hybrid rom includes WM6.1 and Sense 2.1... He is also working on Sense 2.5 for WM6.1, I believe. Check it out, I tried and it's really stable. Only a couple minor bugs. But there's a ton of free RAM and it's really quick! Link below:

okay COOL! thanks
but will you tell me what kind of bugs are there? thanks again
AND another thing - will i be able to still keep my old touchflo3d interface (like i can choose either this jacko rom or the one i have now on the today settings), or will this completely change my interface? thanks
Jacko ROM rocks.. I have been using it intensively for a whole week...
and frankly... together with the Tarkim's Keyboard Configuration Apps... they save my TP2 from being dumped into the drawer... You must try it out if you want Sense on 6.1 (I don't want 6.5 too.. as I hate that stupid honeycomb interface which takes away my keyboard quick selection ...)
is there any way to get the sense with the weather without flashing a new rom?? if not is there any way to flash roms on a mac and or unlock my tp2 on a mac? what about backing up/syncing my tp2?
