Hey guys, i was looking through some threads here and tried to find a video playback that will allow me to play more than the mp4 ect the x lets you.
Someone recommended one apk but it wont install for the life of me (using a apk installer on the x) any help will be nice

When trying to watch captured videos from my MDA II / XDA II (.mp4) I don't get an image and no sound. So which codec I must install to watch these videos?

On the PC, Microsoft Media player doesn't suport MP4. You need to download a MP4 compatable player, such as quicktime.
I've tried various MP4 codec plugins for Media Player, but haven't managed to get any to work with native MP4 files yet.

I have not managed to get anything to play the vid files produced by xda 2 with anything but the latest version of Quicktime.
There must be some other vid players out there ?

I did try it is success but still I cannot view the Video in a full size screen.
I am looking for a better one.
I found some other application calling "am player" and "explainer" by searching through inter net but as per described it is not supporting the MP4 or it need some updating .If any body found a better way pls inform me

I use a product called EnvivioTV. It is a standalone app as well as plugin for WMP. So Mp4 video can be viewed in EnvivioTV app as well as in Windows Media. I downloaded version 1.5 from download.com. The file is EnvivioTV.exe
Thanx for your replies, but I did not manage to get Sound with Quicktime Player - Video works, but no sound! This other Plugin EnvivioTV even doesn't work - Media Player rejects to play the files although it defenitely accepts the files...
Any solution?

I'm using Super as per this link ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3103846&postcount=394 ) to re-encode my video files for optimum playing on my Touch HD.
However whenever I choose Flash video it shows he output file to be an SWF and not FLV.
I have a later build than that shown in the picture and I can't get it to say FLV.
Can somebody help?

What if you just want to covert a simple naughty mpg file from limewire etc?
would you still need to buy Coreplayer to get good result?

That's a good question. quite frankly my Artemis was easier to use in terms of video playback...I encoded with PocketDivxEncoder and made the res smaller and job done. However I find lots of videos playing better in ALBUM than in Coreplayer (which is shocking in most flicks to be fair).
I have yet to find a "one size fits all" guide. I grab mostly XVIDs and want to convert them (I'm now downloading 720p rips and I'll see how they convert to FLV)...I converted a 720p trailer to FLV and it's lovely!

If you want the perfect videos for the Touch HD, use this tool:
HTC Touch Video Converter
It has the optimal settings and is very easy to use.
...and it also doesn't give me very good videos to play - I think perhaps it's my source vid?
I used the coverter for more than 100 files already (HDTV and SDTV) and all have very good quality.
One thing is important for playback:
You MUST use Windows Media Player or the HTC Album for playback !
Only these programs can utilize the hardware acceleration and you need it, because the converted files are close to the maximum the HD can play.
If you still don't get good results, I guess you are right and the source file isn't the best.
Maybe you try some other files to see where the problem is.

I have searched the site and the net so please forgive me if I am asking a question that's already been addressed, but I am having real trouble encoding video that will play on my streak.
I am using hand brake on a mac, a few people have suggested on other sites that using the iphone standard settings should produce a video that will play correctly but when I copy it to the device I get the broken video icon, I have tried various different h264 settings but the video is jittery and there is a lot of artifacting.
Has anybody got any ideas? Is it possibly because I am using a mac?
Any help is greatly appreciated

bro, use rockplayer. it plays .avi perfectly. just download tv show/movie and whack it straight onto msd card and your good to go. google: rockplayer apk

Yes i also use rockplayer its pretty sweet since it plays avi, and just to say handbreak on my mac does work and i used the iphone profile and converted videos that the streak was able to play straight away.
Rockplayer works great and so does encoding using the standard iphone profile.
I recently got my a7 and fresh out of ye box I did the elocitymod 1.1 and got the market place. Everything worked okay but when I tried to play my 1080p file the playback was very bad. Stuttering, slowdown and audio/video sync issues. I thought maybe it was the mod causing problems so I went back to the update from elocity(via recovery). Everything works but the same hd video problem, non hd files play fine. Its as if the unit is decoding via software or something. Im wondering if something got deleted when I did te mod? Can some help me

You can't ask for help or just post random questions in developmental sections anyways.
I would suggest you try something like ES Task Manager and Mini Task or your favorite task manager and kill other tasks, see if that helps.
If you are loading from an SD card, perhaps you need a faster one, or it may be fragmented.

I found the problem, i was my HD files were High profile H.264, the unit only supports base and Main profile.
Convert 1080p video to .mkv using mpeg4 or xvid codec. Encode at a bitrate between 9000 and 12000. You will be pleasantly surprised. My 1080p 60fps video from Sanyo HD2000 is silky smooth converted this way.

Download mx player, and install the codec for arm7 tablet.
you need to install a third party media player. the stock media player in android dosent play alot of files(or at least not very well). there are several out there just pick a good free one. most people use moboplayer and it will install the needed codecs when you open it(but last time i tried it ,it didnt work on acer android 3.1 why i dont know) so I use rockplayer light for now. it plays most files with out need for other downloads.
There are tons of media players just go to market and find one that you like and that plays your files.
