[Q] GMail is not able to read HTML emails?? - Vibrant General

O.k. I'm slow, I just noticed that the Gmail client on the Vibrant does not display HTML emails? What's up with that? Anybody else notice this?
I have installed a lagfix, I'm rooted, have stock rom, new system font and some freshy fresh icons... I also wipe my screen daily
I'm just confused and need a friend.

It does display html, but not images by default. There's a button at the top of the message to download the images and display then.

Images in Gmail account.

I copy and paste an image from firefox into an Outlook email (tied to a different gmail account) and email it to my T-Mobile linked Gmail account. Then I go to the phone's Gmail app and open the email. The image does not show up, all I see is a box with a question mark in the middle. Some other pictured emails have a "show images" button but most of them dont and all I see is the tiny question mark in the blue square.
Has anyone else had this problem as well?
Yea this is one issue I would like them to fix... but no biggy they will get to it... it is google they fix all.
there is an issue with that. You can sync them via an exchange server. I copied and pasted them directly to the contact saved to your gmail homepage. Log into your gmail account and you will see them there. If they are not there export your outlook contact to a .csv file and upload them to your gmail account.

My fault misread the topic.
Does the image show up in gmail on your computer? Gmails shows Outlook HTML emails correctly but Outlook Rich Text Format emails are missing images.

Absolutely, because its not GOOGLE rendering Gmail, its my Firefox browser rendering it. The problem is with the rendering engine in the Gmail software, I dont think this is an easy fix for them, wont see a fix for a while.

Yea and what is up with the applications? Now we have apps for:
Youtube,
Gmail,
Facebook,
Myspace,
Everyone wants his own app, why cant they all work on a better brower than actually works? Look at Skyfire, its amazing on WM6 fast and smooth but needs a fast processor my wing is too slow.
Is Google going to fix this?
Does anyone have a solution?
I don't see too many people annoyed by this, don't you guys use gmail ? This should be front page of wall street journal!!
It will work in cupcake. It works on 1.1

1.1 is the new version for ADP the updates to 1.1 should be released in cupcake.
4 Months and the simple act of showing pictures has not been accomplished. Even Skyfire browser doesn't want to support the G1.
Its funny how Skyfire FULLY SUPPORTS flash while Adobe, Microsoft WindowsMobile, Apple/iPhone and Google/Andriod can not do it!
That which does not kill us only makes makes us stronger.

Personally never once had a working flash movie in skyfire.
But I do know that the way skyfire works is by taking pictures of webpages then sending those pics to your phone. It is complicated stuff and requires a lot of resources on both ends.
On my slow as hell HTC Herald/WING, I used Skyfire and watched YouTube nice and smooth. Now WING/Herald is 200Mhz, Dream is 500+Mhz
What is the big deal about flash?
And going back to the original post on this thread, are we ever going to see images in emails in the Gmail app? How come showing images in email, which is something the browser already does, is so difficult?
Sorry to bump up an old topic, but has anyone found a fix to this?
I am currently running JF1.5 and still see these blue squares in my emails where "inline" images would be. Anyone have any idea?
Thanks.

It really sounds like the problem is with certain clients, not the gmail reader.. Missing images when sent from Outlook? Hardly surprising, Outlook sends poorly formatted email.
I see inline images in the gmail client - emails from ebay, from various webmail clients, from a few companies (newsletters, etc). Check with the sender, see what they're using. See if they have an option to send plain HTML emails.
Not only the gmail app, mail and k9 also
Not only the gmail app, mail and k9 also show a small blue square with an ? in it.

[Q] How to change the calendar color?

How do I change the color of the calendar? Right now mine are all blue which makes it difficult to distinguish between them.
Thank you.
Bump.
let's ask this question differently...
does everyone have the same problem with the calendar assigning only one color to all Google Calendars?
(I have a setup with personal account and a work account, that's like 20 calendars. All are blue, and two at random seemingly are yellow).
Is anyone out there with a firmware where the colors are displayed correctly or are we all in the same boat?
If it's the same for all, I'm going to start investigating preference files. It appears that the calendar CAN support multiple colors (each calendar has its own color label), they're just not set properly, so there may be hope yet.

I did some digging. This seems to be how they Galaxy Calendar app is coded. If I access the calendar via Pure Calendar Widget the colors for the calendar are proper.
I noticed this as well from my launcherpro widget.
It's starting to kind of bug me, but without nandroid fully working I'm not brave enough to explore ROMs in the hope of finding one with a possible fix.
I wonder if there's an XML file somewhere storing all these settings?
As needoz pointed out as well, CLEARLY the device understands the colors when they are synced, it's just Sammy's calendar prog.
Time to browse the file system a little bit.
Will post back if my itchy hands dig up anything more.
Well I'm back quicker than I thought I'd be.
I pulled the calendar .apk from the phone with Rootexplorer, expanded it and started poking around.
At first I was hopeful with all the XML files, and then I hit the graphics section.
All the colors in the calendar are set in pngs. There are 4 in total: blue, orange, green and purple. That's it. 4 colors for events. Blue for internal, orange for google, green for yahoo and I assume purple for exchange. (although it doesn't stick to this strictly on my device so it's really confusing and random).
I also dug up where the correct colors are stored in the calendar.db file, but it looks like Sammy doesn't bother to fetch them at all from the database.
Boo!
This colorproblem really sucks. Does anyone have the original Android Calender as apk ? The Calendar on the Galaxy I9000 doesn´t have that color bug.
You could pull the calander app of the android emulator using adb if it has one. Not sure if that will loog good on the tabs screen
Sent from my GT-P1000 using XDA App
Or look for a app in the market which supports calander colours

Someone figured out how to get rid of the wood theme in the contacts - they were going to tackle the contacts, then the calendar. Sorry I don't know where I saw it, but its out there in wild.
@ranger
The OP is referring to the color of individual calendars, not the background of the calendar app itself.
I did one better and pulled the apk from the Galaxy S i9000 as requested.
Haven't tried it as I got a nice system on my Tab going by combining an exchange and google calendar to achieve the color differentiation. This is NOT a permanent solution, because it involves separating all calendars I have into two groups - work and personal. But it works for me for now so I might try this later only if I'm very itchy.
I'm happy to shoot it over, but before I do maybe one of the mods can help - are we allowed to put up that kind of unmodified stuff on XDA?

[Q] elocity a7 after dexter mod v1.1 update

got apps, even skype.. although volume really low.. but lost calendar and brightness app and email key on home page... although now have real google calendar..
any ideas on how to restore calendar, brightness and email functionality?
Also one more thing .. any tips on how to get attachments up? when I try to attach to gmail all I get is a link to gallery .. cant seem to move to another location to get a file?
Ggmail app is awful. You can attach files to an email but not to original email but have to use external share cpmmand on file manager which opens a new email. Really cumbersome. Any suggestions on how to improve?

CM 7.1 - Exchange HTML email rendering as plain text?

Just flashed my Blade with CM 7.1. Overall works pretty good with 16 bit transparency enabled and using Launcher Pro rather than the included ADW launcher.
Problem - When setting up my Hotmail as an Exchange account, HTML emails are only displayed as plain text? Images are also not shown. There is also no button to "Load more details" as I get on my stock Galaxy S, for exmaple. The HTML source code itself is not shown, the HTML just isn't rendered.
Anyone know what the cause/fix for this is?
Someone must know the answer to this? And please don't suggest the Hotmail app.

[Q] How to change the Account color for the default Email app?

The only related discussion that I've been able to find is here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984957
It's not a huge deal as I really only want my Work email to be specific color, but with all the possible customization of Android, I'd like to think that this should be do-able?
Thanks!
I'd also be interested in a way to change the colors for each account in the stock email app.
If you are not relying on Samsung Specific features, try email 4.4 app from nexus 5 dump, it marks messages from different account with different colors. Although I like it much better than stock app, it also lacks a lot of customization options - no way to specify colors for different accounts, no way to disable notification stacking, no way to select folders you want displayed.
Set Calendar Colors. Free on Google Play.
Tried that app, but as the name implies its just for the calendar. Thanks though
