I just wanted to post this in case someone else had this problem:
I was trying to get music onto my Epic using WMP 12 on Windows 7 64-bit as it is much easier than a manual copy/paste. Plug in phone, mount sdcard, and it shows up as a "library". A "library" is not able to be sync-ed with WMP. Went to Samsung website and downloaded the USB driver on my PC. Now it shows up as a device (sync-able) in WMP 12. Problem solved.
It seems odd that every other device you buy (video card, mp3 player, wireless adapter) comes with a driver cd or at least instruction on how to get a driver online. No so with a cell phone I guess...

I'm and having trouble in syncing music onto my memory card through WMP 11 running on Vista Business. This is not a problem at home using XP pro and WMP 11.
WMP will not see the card as a seperate device meaning I only have 25mb spare to sync.
I'm sure I've seen someone else post this issue but can not find it anywhere in the forum.
Any help on fixing it would be much appreciated!
You have to disable the advanced network functionality in the USB to PC connection on your hermes
1. is it possible to connect your phone (like usb mass storage) to your computer via wi-fi through my network? if so, how? i can sort of get streaming to work through allshare and windows media player but i can not move files , only stream.
2. i have not used samsung media hub yet because i dont want to sit there and watch a movie on a 4" screen. so my question here is , if you rent a movie on the media hub, can it be played on a computer either by usb or streaming?
to help answer these questions, heres my set up:
phone: sprint ( usa) samsung epic. no mods have been done to my phone, everything is factory.
PC: quadcore cpu , geforce gtx 275, 4gb ram, running windows 7 64bit. my pc is hooked up to a westinghouse 47" 1080p monitor.
Search for "xda samba android" in google. Should be like the first link.
I use Websharing and WiFi File Explorer. Look them up.
those apps you mentioned work great for photos ive taken or videos ive recorded, however it does not work with media hub. i tried streaming and it will not find the movie on my device , i hooked my phone up directly to my pc and the movie file is not supported by windows. so im still looking for a way to watch media hub files on my computer. any suggestions?
Nope..Media Hub has the DRM :/...and All share is not compatible..so that ends that.
Now that all the USB connections seem to be fixed, has anyone done a bluetooth connection to their computer? I don't want to carry the proprietary 30-pin cable everywhere so I was hoping I could do a bluetooth connection to my work computer and get files that way. When I pair up the equipment the items linked are for steaming audio. There are two items in my device manager listed as "bluetooth peripheral device" which is missing the driver. Not sure what the right driver would be and if I did get it would it allow native file transferring over bluetooth.
For reference, I'm running Win7 64bit
Checkout Bluetooth File Manger in the market.
The developer has an app for Android tablet, phone, and PC.

I tried that already. It kinda worked. If I place files in a bluetooth sync folder on my computer, then it shows on a list on the tablet. When I select it to download the file it says it is doing so and even acts as if it completed correctly but then I get a 0kb file instead.
I was hoping for a more elegant and working solution like being able to right click on a file and select send to Tab via bluetooth or make it so that it treats the storage the same as being hooked up through USB.
help with bluetooth
This is my first attempt/first post, so be gentle...
I'm running windows 7 64-bit & have a GT 10.1 as well, & I've gotten files to transfer both ways... I found that it didn't work at first because the drivers weren't fully installed on windows--if your case is like mine, you may just need to reboot windows to let the drivers finish installing. After that, I was able to right click & "send to Bluetooth device" like you're trying to do... However, in order to receive files, you have to alert windows that youre about to do just that... there is a pretty good tutorial on transferring files through Bluetooth on 7tutorials.com (I'd post the link, but I'm not allowed).
I found the tutorial and I think It must be an issue with the bluetooth hardware in my laptop. I have the basic bluetooth transceiver from dell. I tried reinstalling the driver but the options for send and receive files is missing.
Hi guys,
i'm currently quite confused. My TV has a USB port that I can playback videos stored on a memory stick. This also worked with videos stored on micro sd card in my HTC Sensation when I plug the phone into my TV via USB.
However, when I plug in my Nexus 7, it can't find anything.
I tried it on a Sony N100 media player. Again nothing.
I then tried it on a WDTV Live. Again nothing.
I then plugged it into my laptop, went into the folder on my Nexus 7 where i store my movies, and clicked to play it on my laptop.
Instead of playing it, it began to copy the video file to somewhere on my laptop.
What is going on here? Is there anyway to get it to playback via USB connection onto a TV?
My Nexus 7 is unrooted, and am hoping for some kind of work around.
Whilst I primarily bought the tablet to watch programs on the train whilst commuting, I also wanted to be able to load some videos on it, take it to a friend's and play it back on their tv.
As it always worked fine on my android phone, I just assumed it would work on the Nexus 7.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
thanks!

The Nexus 7 isn't a UMS device. Which means that when you plug it into something, it DOESN'T look like a USB flash drive (no FAT/FAT32/whatever filesystem). In order to access files on it, you'd need a host device that supports MTP (or PTP). Windows has this support built in, but I imagine most devices that don't run windows are lacking that ability. My MacBook won't even read files off of my N7 without "Android File Transfer" (and there's no MacFUSE driver available).

I take it that even rooting the N7 wouldn't help here then?

I remember seeing an advanced option in some CM9/10 builds on my Nexus S to enable UMS, but I can't comment as to whether that feature exists/works on the N7. I'm (shock!) running unrooted stock.
so for my computer running on windows xp, it can't really access the files/storage in it. In mtp mode, it connects as mtp music player.. it runs auto play but gives me blank options, and it doesnt show up on My Computer. the camera one is just displaying camera stuff...
most computers i can access can connect and transfer files to the nexus 4 or have different issues. i primary use the one running on xp, is there a way to fix this?
the mtp music player pops up regardless of stock/custom rom and usb debugging.

MTP and Windows XP do not properly work together.
I had the same problems. Hopefully this helps you or someone else with the same.
What I found that worked for me was
-make sure usb debugging is off
-use the generic windows drivers as the regular drivers (the google/lg ones are fine for fastboot/adb drivers)
-update to windows media player 11 <--- wmp10 was able to see all of the folders to "sync" but the Nexus 4 was not showing up in MyComputer
If you use a password for your phone, make sure you unlock the phone when the device is connected for your contents to show up
