After 1 week of using my new HTC legend I managed to get a crack in the LCD.
Do anyone know how to fit a new LCD on to the Legend? Like a step by step guide. Searched the internet like mad but cant find any more information than how to take the body out of the housing. Where do I go from there? Im quite technical minded, so im happy to do it myself, but just need a bit more info before I start bending and screwing
Any help is most appreciated!!!

Thanks a lot, the final tipp came from http://www.pdagold.com/articles/detail.asp?a=274 - there are good photos from disassemble and assemble!
Hi there,
unfortunately I dropped my Toch HD last weekend on rough ground, the housing ist completely scratched at the corners and looks awful. The lucky part is that technically it still works perfectly and the display/screen is not damaged.
So, I'd like to replace the housing and I've already found some replacement parts on the net (e.g. here for USD 80... i know, quite expensive but for me it's worth it, cheaper offers always welcome though).
The real problem is that I couldn't find any instructions to do it and no hints whether any special tools are necessary. The forum search only delivered rare information. With a proper instruction I would dare to do it myself, but without I'm afraid to damage the device.
So has anybody got a detailed instruction or experience changing the housing?
would be grat,
thanks in advance,
regards jan
Isn't this what you are looking for?
http://htcdriver.com/index.php?page=htc-blackstone-touch-hd-service-manual
And congratulations for not damaging the screen, because this is what happened to me (see the attachment), and amazingly everything works .
Thank You, exactly what I was looking for...
...however, it looks much more complicated than I expected... have to toke some time to analyze the instruction for which steps are necessary for changing the casing only without complete disassembly... not sure yet if I should dare it...
but, anyway, thank you again!
regards jan
P.S.1: has anybody tried it yet and have some experience to share?
P.S.2: I'm not sure about the "plastic stick" shown in the disassembly part... whether it's really just a flat and bit flexible plastic stick or if itr has any special tip...
try, it's easy
I did it on a P3600 and it was not so difficult, just take your time (at least one hour).
Read everything carrefully before starting, prepare tools and clean your hands
I also dropped my touch hd and dented the front bezel. I have bought a complete replacement housing and tools required for only £25 on ebay.
I have read the service manual and it doesn't deal with removing the lcd screen from the bezel. I read somewhere that it is a complete unit and you can't detach it easily
The new case is still in its box until I can find more out. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!
Yup it isn't as easy as it looks. The manual lacks details as it only tells you how and where but did not elaborate more on minor yet important details.
I bought an antenna cover from ebay to replace, and boy, removing the cover was not easy at all. I used to take apart my other phones all the time and HD is the most difficult one I've done. I ended up breaking the small plastic sockets (that clicks the cover firmly into place) of the original cover. Luckily I have a new one to fit back in. Originally I wanted to replace the whole housing myself but I stopped after the antenna cover until I get a video of how its done.
So anyone? Kindly? Any videos please? XD
still no videos out there?
not looking good for us as i still can't find any video tutorials out there so im assuming that its super hard to do
please can anyone assist?

lol i chickened out eventually. and im still using my not-so-perfect housing as im reluctant to change it myself while being too stingy to pay a pro to do it.
a few days ago my touch screen stop responding. The problem is not software.I try everything new rom old rom, new, original rom, HSPL everything that I find on internet. And I think the problem is in the Digitizer.
Can you find my some manual to tutorial how to change the digitizer ?
And I want to know how. Maybe we have luck ..
I find in youtube how to change digitizer on the iphone i think it will be the same but i am not sure.
thats bad news but honestly, how can you relate this with winmo ROM development?
I have changed it on my old diamond, but in the process I broke the lcd screen as it is so thin. So its best to get the digitizer and lcd as one unit, it makes life alot easier.
Its not so easy as there alot of tiny screws and ribbon cables etc.. its best to take pictures of the phone as you disassemble so you know what goes where when you put it back together.
I have just found a video on how to disassemble the phone: http://vimeo.com/6892707
prepare to spend a few good hours (3-4) to do a good job and not damage your hardware!
I strongly suggest you buy a factory pre-assembled Digitizer & LCD Screen, the extra cost is worth every single bit considering the layers between the parts are all glue! the moment you seperate the layers they get grit stuck on them and it goes down hill from there.
If you want to DIY repair it, I just put up this thread: Touch HD (Blackstone) Screen & touch repair, pics and tips inside!
It tells you most things the service manual does not tell you to do when you change the screen but keep the front plastic housing. without the housing the service manual is fairly comprehensive apart from not telling you to put back the camera >_>
DIY job is good to save money, just consider that the work is not easy (detaching wifi from mobo & power pcb come to mind) but can be done!
thank you very much.
Hi everyone,, wondering if some one could provide me with some assistance. I bought a full replacement housing for my sony x10 as the phone got a huge gash in the side which was really insightly so the best thing was to replace the entire housing.
Quick question, the digitizer. It seems like its completely glued on to the housing? do i need to replace the digitizer if im replacing the housing as well? do i need to use glue and redo it? not sure if i take it off can it break easily... any information would be greatly appreciated.
Simply check my Disassembly Guide.
You'll find it in my Sig.
There is everything described.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask them over there.

Hello XDAers!
Managed to drop my O7 onto a lovely concrete floor and very successfully cracked all the glass. It still works fine, the LCD works fine and there's no dead pixels or anything so I think I'm rather lucky.
I've found replacement glass screen digitizers for the O7, and can pick up a generic phone tool kit easy enough. I was just wondering if anyone on here has any experience of changing the glass or could point me to any good sites with useful and concise instructions? My search so far has come up with nothing relevant..
Thanks in advance chaps.

I'm waiting for my replacement screen to arrive. I have absolutely no experience installing lcds and I'm as scared as hell.
The only guide I could find is here http://www.mobile-master.net/2764-samsung-i8700-service-manual-new.html
File number 7 seems useful.
I hope it helps you. But I suggest you take your phone to a repair center along with that manual because you can't risk messing it up yourself.
Good luck and tell me how it goes, I will too
That service guide is very good. I wouldn't say you need to go to a service center neccessarily however I would say to buy the digitizer + lcd + metal chassis as a ready made part to get a good finish. I had to replace the lcd and digitizer and because glueing the unit to the chassis was a little difficult, the top right corner of my screen hasn't stuck so well and juts out a little compared to the rest of the corners, this is now causing me problems with my proximity sensor, which I cannot fix.
