4G Minneapolis

Anybody have any more specific information when 4g is dropping for Minneapolis?
I grazed across an online article that mentioned August 2010. I can't find it buried in my browser history and I'm not quite sure where they got the month from to begin with, so don't hold me to it and take it with a grain of salt. The general consensus is that it should be dropping IN 2010 though.
I've heard it's starting to pop up, but can't confirm, and when I leave 4G on in the Downtown area, all I get is disappointment and a dead battery. Doesn't help, but keeping my eye out.
I have heard at worst by end of 2010, and at best fall 2010. Here is hoping its fall 2010, also if anybody has gotten 4G in mpls let us know and where!
I have heard rumors of Brooklyn Park being a test area for the 4G roll out. I have yet to verify tho.
Anyone know?
-Midnigh7-
Live in Coon Rapids, work at the airport, I haven't picked up a signal anywhere inbetween
Why MPLS? Why not Saint Paul? We're the state capitol! Damn you Sprint!
througAugust. Directly from sprint rep.
There was a test i heard. It happened at the sprint store last week on launch day. Don't quote me on that. But the guy at sprint told me in august for sure. They got an email from corporate last Thursday. I asked them specifically because I didn't want to get the phone if 4g wasn't on the horizon.
a buddy of mine works for Sprint in corporate sales. The last he heard it was "by the time the leaves change".
There is (or at least was, I haven't checked myself) a 4g tower on the Holiday Inn in DT Mpls. He said they were testing the signal for about a mile radius around the hotel. If anyone checks it out let us know!
I will confirm this in a couple of hours will be right next to that building.
I have heard that it's starting now (including that tower in downtown MSP) and will be done by fall from a tower engineer on the project.
Cool, that's sooner than I thought. I guessed it would be around November / December.
FWIW, I got my Evo on launch day at the Minnetonka corporate store. I was told both September and summer. Also, the guy at the phone kiosk at SAMS in St Louis Park said July or August. I think no one knows for sure. I'm hoping for July.
I can confirm 4g in Minneapolis at south second st and south second ave near bobby and steves... the upload is at 1.3 and the download is at 3.87 megs it makes the qik app actually work.

Nope not lying... I kept hearing rumors about people getting a 4g signal in minneapolis... and rumors about ther being a 4g repeater on top of a holiday inn. So i kept my 4g on while going through minneapolis by bobby and steves and BAM 4G! Enjoy if you get to go by that area!

One more confirmation for good measure. Almost couldn't believe it. I drove around the U area and had pretty good signal - strongest right outside of Carlson. My download peak was around 4 with a lower average and upload peak was about 1.5. I just hope when they say "Minneapolis" that they really mean downtown and the surrounding 'burbs (EP, pref. ).
Yeah I would assume they'd mean the whole 694 494 loop but who knows
I also live in Minneapolis area, and heard July-august for 4g.

4G in New Haven, CT

I was in New Haven the other day and i got a notification of 4g service, i then got a weak signal for a few minutes. But New Haven is not on the map nor listed for anytime soon. Just shows how fast sprint is working to get up these 4g towers.

It is only in small section in New Haven area. I noticed it to, but signal still pretty weak. I talked to a Sprint representative and was told that they are setting it up throughout Connecticut and testing in small areas to see how it works. She said that they hope to have all of Connecticut where Sprint has service, of course, to be up and running by December 2010 or January 2011. But it could go live sooner, just depending on how fast they get everything installed and tested.

New 4G coverage, small town

Thought it was weird that my college town, Rolla, Missouri has 4G Wimax coverage.
Any other weird choices for rollout?
No fair.

According to multiple Sprint reps I've talked with, "4G will be available in the end of the December, 2010 in the whole US" "Everywhere".

As awesome as that would be... it won't happen. There's still plenty of places with just 1x, like where I live.

Bro, I respect your opinion and knowledge. I used many of your roms in the diamond days. Where I work, we lease land to some tower companys, three of these are Sprints. The Sprint field techs I have spoke with have no knowledge of any immediate 4g upgrades, and no sign of any upcoming tower work has been present. No underground service alert markings, nada. Our companys own Sprint rep told us back in June, we would have 4g within two months. Nope. I will only believe the 4g hype when I see a man-lift sitting at one of those sites, and Sprint techs working on it. BTW, my local area is home to around a quarter of a million in SoCal.
Im just glad my town of 7000 at least has 3g. Im fine with that.

I'm not saying that it will or won't be everywhere by the end of the year -- I'm just telling you what Sprint is officially telling customers. If I were you, I would go to Sprint.com and ask a rep via chat yourself. That way, if/when it's not "everywhere" by the end of the month, you may have a valid argument for some sort of credit to your account.

check out their coverage of Washington state... I live in Yakima Wa and we had 4g from day one. Also most small towns in Yakima county have coverage I thought it was very strange but never argued with it.
Im from springfield, mo and rolla is closer then st Louis. I might have to make a trip to rolls to test out my 4G.
Saint Joseph, Missouri here. Really hope we get some 4g love soon.

This makes me rage so hard. Yakima and Tri-Cities have 4G but they skipped the entire Spokane region and refuse to give out any sort of date to expect coverage.
From time to time, I flip on my 4G in a very small hope that the small city of Rome, Georgia with a population of about 30,000 will get 4G within the next few years. Today, I was a Starbucks having coffee with a friend and talking about 4G and how long we think it will take for Verizon or AT&T to get their 4G here. I've already dismissed Sprint ever getting it here because Sprint just closed their only store in town a month ago. Verizon and AT&T are the main providers here. So, I was telling them that 4G has to be turned on within the settings of the phone and demonstrated how to turn it on. I put the phone down and picked it up a few minutes later after receiving a text and I had to cover my mouth to prevent the very loud "WTF?!?!?!" that came out of my mouth as I noticed the 4G connected symbol in the status bar! What on Earth is 4G doing in this little town? Of course, I got online to see if I could find Rome listed on Sprint or Clearwire. It wasn't on Sprint, but sure enough, it was now listed on Clearwire as having 4G. It isn't listed as the super fast 4G area like Atlanta, but 4G nonetheless. I am getting 6.1 Mbps with one bar at home. I'd like to know when this network went up. And if it will stay. Anyone know where I could find some info? I chatted with Clearwire to see if they could tell me when it was activated, but they couldn't tell me. I'm going to tell everyone about it now. We have 4G before a lot of major cities... I'm super stoked!

Middle GA Warner Robins outage?

Anyone have any info on this? I have no data while roaming and speeds have been fairly bad last two days. Sprint confirmed the outage but had no eta for me or info regarding. At work I happen to roam in the shop and there is 0 data currently. A little more info would be appreciated if its just maintenance or upgrades.
Maintenance. = blah
Software upgrade = some hope
Hmm lasted less than 12 hrs. Data roaming is back on now. May be in and out. Guess it was simple. Any info would still be cool.
Same thing in Upstate NY now.
I've been getting "error code 67. unable to establish wireless data connection" messages all day in New Jersey
Same thing I saw. So I contacted sprint haha

T-Mobile: 1900mhz baseband live in New Orleans

So after reading a Thread about it going live in Pittsburgh, I figured i'd contact t-mobile myself to confirm if I had access in New Orleans.
!Socorro S: Welcome to T--Mobile Live Chat! My name is Socorro sj and my Rep i.d. is xxxxx.
!Socorro S: Can you give me 3-4 minutes to look it uo for you?
Me: Yes, thank you.
!Socorro S: what type of phone do you have?
Me: I currently have a monthly4g plan w/ T-mobile. I wanted to purchase the international version of the Samsung galaxy note (GT-n7000). The phone doesn't have the 1700mhz base band
!Socorro S: Hello, are you still there?
Me: I heard T-mobile was refarming the 1900mhz base band for data and has deployed it in some areas.
!Socorro S: Oh, okay. Let me look into that, and thanks for the info.
Me: If you need any other information, feel free to ask
!Socorro S: Let me check on my resources here. I will be right back, in about 4-5 minutes. Is this okay with you?
Me: That's fine.
!Socorro S: what phone do you have now. Prepaid Accounts do not show us the type of phone customer has.
Me: That's odd.
Me: I have a Samsung Exhibit II 4G
!Socorro S: Yes, 900mhz band for data live in New Orleans.
Me: I'm sorry, do you mean 1900mhz?
!Socorro S: 1 mean, 1900mhz, sorry.
Me: Oh, that is great news!
!Socorro S: Anything else I can be of further help today?
Me: I have one other question.
!Socorro S: Sure!
Me: Is it possible to confirm if the samsung galaxy note will be coming to T-mobile under contract?
!Socorro S: There are conditions/eligibilities to follow. However, for this request, you will need to speak with our Customer Care experts. They can be reached by dialing 611 from your handset or 1-800-937-8997

As you can see, 1900mhz baseband for data is spreading. Looks like people with quadband radios can finally rejoice. New Orleans seems to be one of the last places to get anything, so this was a shock to me.
Is 1900 MHz the frequency that AT&T uses? I can't remember. I would love to use 3G on my Droid 3.

taken from the wikipedia page:
DROID 3: CDMA2000 800/1900, EV-DO Rev. A
GSM 850/900/1800/1900 UMTS
WCDMA 850/1900/2100
That's not what I asked. I meant does that mean 1900 MHz will be what T-Mobile will allow now that they didn't before?

We've been fairly blessed with wireless tech implementation in new orleans thoguh, we were one of the very first to get ATT LTE and had very early ATT 3g rollouts here too, as was the case with the 3g rollout The large number of events being held in the New Orleans area plays a huge role in their decisions, it was a superbowl and final four that did it for 3g and the BCS championship that did it for ATT LTE and superbowl this year as well all play a role and hey ill take it right
Sorry to bump an old thread - but New Orleans definitely has NOT been refarmed yet. I am sitting in the middle of downtown NOLA right across from Tulane Medical School and my Pre 3 only gets ****ty E.
I called 3 T Mobile stores about when the refarm is going to happen and they gave me three different answers - by the end of the month - by the end of summer - and in 3 weeks.
It has been 1 week since I called so I guess we'll see what happens.

They have no clue, anyone who knows won't be on the phone, I played the same game with them a year ago, I don't honk they'll do it till LTE isn't this market, I mean they didn't do it for 2012 when we had so many HUGE world stage events hosted here Super Bowl most recently, I mean ATT managed an Entire LTE deployment of SE Louisiana just for all the conventions and events to promote their LTE service, and its damned nice but I checked weekly with t-mobile with nothing, and the thing is, usually you know before hand when it's coming because they are doing tests at least in the CBD for a while before the officially "flip the switch.
I'm actually on the opposite end now, I'm using my tmobile mytouch 3G slide on ATT EDGE, actually do you want to meet up somewhere public and trade phones? Let me know either way, now that I'm focused on it I need to get back on at least 3G.

You DO realize that the rollout of the highspeed wireless is to encourage people to buy their phones to tether them to their home computers at a huge markup because most of the telco lines and cable is still in bad repair from disasters/floods of the recent past. Don't think for a second AT&T is being "nice", it's a marketing strategy. However, congratulations on receiving an actual usable 4G signal out there!

Should be soon. Any place that has refarmed 3g will be easy to upgrade because it's software at that point. The refarm is taking advantage of new panels and hardware that supports LTE-10 and PCS/AWS DC-HSPA all from the same panel. I think they are just testing KC/Vegas for LTE right now and apparently are having more problems getting it working right then they care to admit, as it's not as simple as UTMS is since that's an older tech and LTE-10 is brand new and not well tested.

Bad info? I used to work for AT&T a few years AFTER Katrina. That was STILL a complete and utter mess even when I started. Yes, it's been some time since I was working for the big blue Deathstarâ„¢ now, but you've never seen all the red tape inside that goes into every little stupid detail. You are correct, I was not directly responding, merely passing comment, so feel free to ignore me at your own whim.
