Ok so I purchased a MT3G 1.2 (3.5mm headphone jack) today and was excited because i had no idea it came as a 32a pvt board. I come from G1 and so used to being at a 32b board and being able to use those roms and some mytouch because there the same boards. Now my question is this. Is the hero a 32a pvt board as well? And if it is can you essentially go into the hero section and download roms? i would think not but you guys know more in here. not a newbie to flashing roms just new to mt3g. any help is appreciated thank you. Going to start getting this phone rooted =) and doing some research

I have a question regarding the Dev section in the Sapphire forums. I'm coming from the Dream forums and it's little bit more developed than here. I'm researching rooting my wife MT3G and noticed that some of the roms are labeled as so [32a], [32b], or [32B](MT3G). I'm wondering if it's labeled 32B is it alright to flash on the MT3G or should I only flash ones that specifically say they're for the MT3G? I've searched all of the forums and cannot find any specific answer (Dream forums are pretty ruthless with n00b questions that are easily searched) Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

you should be good with anything that is labled 32b or any of the latest cyanogenmod roms.
myTouch 3G = 32B
myTouch is just the branding of a Sapphire 32B. 32B phones are identical to the G1 as far as specs go, the 32A is identical to the Hero (and is VERY uncommon in the USA). If you root the phone using my method here you will be ready to be using CyanogenMod Stable, CM Experimental, or my new favorite, the Dizzy Hero v1.5.5.
I should have a MT3G by Thursday. Just wondering after CM4.0.4 is installed, can I go ahead with installing his Pimped Out Recovery 1.4.1?

The 32b has 192MB of RAM, while the 32a has 288MB. As far as I know, the T-Mobile USA phones are 32b, while the Rogers Canada phones are 32a.
Also, keep in mind that the Canadian 32a and USA T-Mobile 32b use different 3G frequencies.

Sorry for such a dumb question been a while since I have tinkered with my mt3g. I remember that the bluetooth don't work on hero and some stuff ran better on 32a software but for the life of me I can't find out how to do it.
I already have a root mt3g running kings droid eris port and would like bluetooth since that is what I use mainly and not working on this build so i wanted to tinker with some of the 32a ones on here. Does anyone know how to change this on the phone? If i recall correctly you fastboot the 32a radio then a 32a recovery and then what ever rom. But no sure and don't want to brick my phone.

based on my understanding 32B and 32A refer to board models. 32A has more memory and better parts compared to 32B. i would advice you not to put and 32A rom on your phone(32B) as it can be unsafe.
If you need bluetooth why dont you switch to a rom that supports bt and some more? that would be the safest way.
Actually, you can do this, however, this is typically only done if you are trying to get root access with a perfected SPL. Such as 1.33.0007. But most people that do this revert back to a 32B once they flash a non perfected spl.

Are you saying that it is possible to put a 32A rom on a 32B model? If so that would be awosome. But why other people kept on reverting back?

Couple things I'm not clear on:
1. The whole 32A/32B thing. For example, I have a 32A, but I can only flash 32B roms. Flashing a 32A rom makes it hang on black screen after the HTC Magic logo.
2. I've read that the MyTouch 1.2 and Fenders are all 32A. I've also read that for the phone to work properly, the stock SPL and radio have to be used. If that's the case, how are people running the 32A ROMs in the development section that require different SPLs and radios?
I guess what I'm trying to figure out is how to flash a 32A ROM on my MT3G 1.2 phone if they require non-stock SPL/radio and when I'm reading that I can't use anything but stock versions.
I'm probably mixing up old and new info, but I'm really confused. Flashing my Nexus One is so much easier
you got it mostly right.
The mytouch 1.2/Fender is a hybrid magic. It has the mainboard of the 32a (with 288mb RAM), but the radio of the MT3G 32b/G1, a new touch screen driver, and the 3.5mm audio jack.
So, really, someone named Zinx was able to make kernel patches to make it work. These patches were applied the CM 32b kernel. So any rom based on CM5.0.7test 2 kernel or higher has the needed drivers to work with the 1.2/fender le.
the true HTC magic 32a has a different radio. This is why the dev section is mostly of 32a with old radio/new radio ROMs. the 32b phones are just G1 with out the keyboards...
Basically you need to find ROMs that have been "ported" to run on the 1.2. I can recommend Cyanogenmod 5.0.8-DS. As it works really well. Make sure you look for the DS (dream/sapphire) one.

Currently I'm running jojotm's Minimou with pershoot's updated kernel and it works very well. It's faster than I expected it to be which is just fine for my wife. I have a Nexus One for my needs
No, the kernal or a ported ROM will let you use the full RAM.

I'm trying to figure out the best thing to do with my phone.
I bought this HTC Rogers Magic+ from second hand and it has a myTouch 3g ROM installed on it.
However, I think the radio version isnt what it should be on this board. When I go into fastboot I see:

But when trying to attempt a flashrec I see, 32B. Can anyone look at this and let me know what the best thing for me to do is? I am still a beginner with a lot of this, and not sure if I should flash the radio or ??? Just want to try to get the phone back to factory so that I can start fresh. Any ideas appreciated.

I have an old 32A Sapphire that I bought in Canada on rogers network when it first came out. I had rooted it and put custom recovery and roms on it but when rogers put out the manditory update I got them to send me a replacement and just put my rooted magic to the side. It's been quite a while since I've tried to mess around with it and see that a few things have changed. I really want to try and get it back on rogers network with root still. I have never done anything more than one-click root flash recovery and put on some basic roms. I am thinking that my radio and spl will have to be updated. Current info is as follow:
