MR1 DG27 System Update - Epic 4G General

I was just wondering what is up with this update. Does it prevent rooting?

Could be a KA2 baseband update only. I just got an update this morning OTA and it wasn't froyo...just baseband update to KA6. I was previously on stock JI6...see the thread I just created...

Falsh back to stock unrooted for GB OTA?

Is it necessary to flash back to stock and be unrooted to receive to upcoming GB update?

As I understand it, yes, you need to be unrooted and stock (I've heard it must be .340 build as well).
When you root, you will not receive updates.
It's up to you, but if you want the stock GB then you will have to be stock, I SBF'd back to .340 build.
Hopefully Friday the 13th will be a lucky day
Good Luck!
Also check this site for video tutorial.

OK thanks. I think I am going to flash back to stock also. Thanks for the advice.

You have time, it's been pushed back to the 26th.
Didn't P3 warn everyone you may permanently lose root if you accept the GB OTA update?
That has been said about other updates, then a couple days later, it's rooted.
It will be unrootable initially...will it stay that way? I kind of doubt it, but anything is possible.
Pushed back? Oh well......after I'm all back to stock and ready to go. Im thinking about just staying stock with temp root only, until the OTA. I just hate all the bloatware!

[Q] OTA update is failing

I have my phone rooted so I can use the hotspot feature and I have no problems with it. When the OTA update came I expected it to kill root and I was prepared for that also. The problem is when the phone reboots and begins installing the update, it ends with an error. It doesn't say what the error is. I'm just wondering if the error might be root related or phone related. Anyone else seeing this problem?
Root related. There is a thread to how to update MJA with MF9 boot loader I HIGHLY recommend that of you truly want to update.

I think your issue is the hotspot mod add to why the update is failing. But I agree with above, I'd go the update route that gets you the update minus the Knox bootloader

My phone is working real good now, good battery life, no dropped calls, etc. I wonder if updating is really worth the effort? I'll have to see what advantages 4.3 will give me. Thanks for the tip on the above thread.
Yes, any modded files in the system partition(hot-spot mod) will cause the OTA to fail. Also, you must be on the stock recovery.

I successfully got it downloaded on my son's G2 this morning, but since it has TWRP on there it obviously did not install. Does anyone have the stock recovery I can revert to? I couldn't find one in any of the other forums. Doesn't look like the update is really major, but I don't want it to keep trying to update on him. If the flashable ZIP gets posted I'll probably just use that if I can't get the recovery reverted back to stock.

AT&T Update... Will I lose root?

Just got a message that there is an update available for my phone. I am currently rooted running stock ROM. If I update will I lose root? If yes, can I easily re-root?
Sent from my LG-D800 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
Typically most pushed updates will cause you to loose root. As for your other question I'm not sure, what is the update for 4.3? Can't answer without knowing what the update is updating to.
Sent from my LG-D800 using Tapatalk
It's just a small update, about 60 MB. Bumped the version from D80010d to D80010o. Still 4.2.2. From what I could see, the update added 'Play Games' app. It probably fixed the over-sensitive touchscreen too, but I can't say for sure.
