So, I noticed there is no option to use google voice for the default voicemail option. Anyone know of a way to get around this? I hate it when a carrier cripples a device :/

Microsoft's Live Search is supposed to work with voice recognition, but a moment after I start the app, that option disappears. Does anyone know why and how to fix it?
Thanks
Hey everyone!
I'm in meed for some help! I am running CM7 and the sprint VCMC does not work with it so now I'm trying to get Google voice set up. I have gone through the set up numerous times and it still will not work. I am selecting do not use Google voice to make calls. I only want it for voice mail. So it prompts me to dial the *28 number, I get 3 beeps and then it hangs up. (I believe that is normal) . So after the set up is finished, when I call my phone it does not forward the calls the my Google voicemail, it simply says the call can not be completed please try again. I have gone online and checked the settings still won't work! I have deletes the account and tried again and still the same error. I know it works, since there are many people around here that use it. I'm sure this is a user error thing. So if anyone has any insight please let me know! I could use all the help I can get!
Thanks!
I know how to fix this!
I've had this problem before and it's incredibly annoying to experience, and almost impossible to find out yourself unless someone tells you.
It's simple really. You NEED a "google voice" number. I know you THINK you have one, but you don't.
Go into your gvoice account, and then voice settings. Right at the top there is a icon that says "get google number". It's free and quick. Once you have a google voice number, you can then get voicemail to work properly.
Hope that helps.
If you already have a Voice number, then did you set up your Evo to use Google Voicemail? I believe the option is in Settings>Call.
Is anyone else having a problem using Google now to call your contacts? I used to be able to say "call Bob Jones mobile" and it would dial the number for me. It seems really broken on this phone. It works with a couple of my contacts, but fails with 90% of them. It's almost like it will only match (succeed) finding the contact if it is a really simple name (Mom). Otherwise it misspells the name and says it can't find the contact.
I still can't figure this out. Am I the only one having this issue?
I thought S voice did this? I didn't know Google now even did it lol

S Voice probably does... I've just always used Google Now for this. Hopefully this isn't Samsung's way of forcing you to use their stupid S Voice app instead of Google Now. I don't know how they'd even cripple Google Now like this though.
I have a Nexus 6P running the latest version Android 6.0.1. However, it is very odd that I never had this issue with my Nexus 6.
I have a car that just has a simple phone button (Bluetooth) to press which makes a sound and at that point I can simply say something like "Call Tom Brady". The phone usually uses my Verizon network to call the contact without any problems. I have been noticing that for a lot of my contacts 'Google Now' is trying to call them via Google Voice. The phone literally says calling so and so via Google Voice and then never connects. I don't know if this is because these contacts have a Gmail account or what, but it is very annoying and it never ends up connecting.
I bet if I uninstall the Google Voice app everything would work, but I need it for my visual voice mail.
One thing I have already tried is in the Google Voice App settings change it to 'Do NOT use Google Voice for any calls'.
This did not fix the issue.
Is there any Google Now settings or Google Voice settings that anyone can think of that might help me here?
Sorry if this might be a dumb post, but I despise tmobile's vvm app because it never notifies me of messages, so I use Google voice. No matter how many times I disable the voicemail tab in the dialer app, it keeps coming back! Is there a way to link the voicemail tab to Google voice so I stop seeing the following error?
There used to be an option for switching the service, but I don't see that here

If you go into voicemail settings, you can switch off vvm in the stock dialer and the tab won't appear at all, so you won't see the error.
Someone posted a workaround on the Pixel forum that might work by downgrading Gvoice.
