Does anyone know of anything available? Would it work if the phone was locked (sleeping) but on? Couldn't find anything after my searches...some of you might know better.

there's no point doing ebay sniping anymore.
people generally know how to bid on ebay now. I found it is hard to sell stuff for good money with auction style. Most of the time I sell by BIN.

yes i do and never had a problem. I totally understand people who would have reservations though. Had my bank card cloned at a petrol station the other week and someone was trying to use it in australia! lol are you really 100% safe anywhere now days mate?

First of all, you choose to sell me the G1 you are not being FORCE to do so.
Second of all, my "project" is for me, nothing to gain profit.
I don't even HAVE a ebay account nor have I ever sold anything online. So don't go around posting "B.S" rumors.
$80-100 seems reasonable maybe to me at least seeing as I got my first G1 for free, mytouch is coming out, the G1's on t-mobile got cheap, and are going to get cheaper once the mytouch comes out. So you can keep your negative comments to yourself kid, and if you don't want to help, or sell,give, etc your G1 stay away from my topic, or I will bring a moderator..

I think he means he just doesn't remember anything that could have caused this damage. other people have posted that their screen broke in their bag/pocket seemingly for no reason. I was concerned about this so I googled it and it turns out it happens to other phones too, but rarely. apparently pressure on the screen can do it. unfortunately warranties don't cover it.
or maybe he really was wasted and doesn't remember falling down those stars....

I'm pretty sure parts will become available soon, in the mean time you could buy a G1 from ebay to use short term and then sell it on when you find a screen.

It's my 4th Android device, and as much as I love Android, and seeing as I've already gone through everything I can do with my iPhone, I'd like to see what WinMo is all about.

What do you find to be the downside of the HD2
I'm not sure what the band situation is as mine is a UK model. I can send you pics if you wish though. I've not even opened the headphones or touched the packaging since I got it and I've had it in a case with a screen protector since day one.
I come from Android and iPhone and found the SMS app and its alternatives to be inferior. I send up to 4200 texts a day and have to constantly delete threads to prevent the app slowing down.
I also use Twitter and IM a lot and Android presents a great deal more options.
I do love my HD2. I even carry a spare battery as I use it so often, but I get fed up of the bugs.
Maybe I'll regret it when I get rid as my handset is one of the few not to have a screen sensitivity bug: it works perfectly with no ghost typing or weird flitting between letters; my other three suffered annoyingly from this hardware problem.

I love the HD2 but I get on better with Android, my phone is sim free and I have the proporta flip case.
