Charging hd2 battery on Android safe? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

I read somewhere that we should charge our hd2 only when its off or running winmo cuz your battery gets too hot when charging on Android. Can someone confirm this??
I hope future builds will fix this problem.

Try charging your phone while it is off until the green led turns on. Then unplug the phone and turn it on. Android should be at 100% (or maybe 99% depending on how much power your phone uses to start up).
You gotta charge to 100% in windows and then boot android

Charging issue

So since I flashed Android 2.2 nand, everytime I charge my phone it basically "freezes" while off. The Orange led light stays on and I can't turn my phone on. I have to take my case off, take off the back, then pull the battery and it works. It's a real pain.
Anyone heard of this happening?

Yeah it's a Magldr issue, cotulla is aware of it but it's not really a priority.
Ok. Thanks.

Does anybody have problems charging on magldr

Every time I use magldr I can't charge my phone. Every time I have to use clk which works perfect. But I do want to try some windows rom but it's hard with only one charge to work with. Anybody run into this?

If you mean when the phone's off, then of course you can't charge in MAGLDR. Didn't you read about it thoroughly before flashing it? It doesn't support cold charging (although judging by the activity in the MAGLDR thread we might be able to look forwards to a new version soon ) so of course you'll have to use cLK to charge it. I personally have found that the battery lasts ages in the bootloader and CWM anyway, so it doesn't matter much.

No I know it don't charge while off I'm not a noob. It won't charge while in the OS or anything

Charging from an OS has nothing to do with your bootloader.
If you can't charge from within Android, you probably have a problem with your device/OS itself.
A starting point, have you checked your battery pins?
Yeah its a brand new battery. And everything charges perfectly on the clk bootloader. Its weird just curious if I am the only one that cant use magldr at all.

Yes charging time has been drastically reduced on the HTC One after the 4.2.2 update.
My Galaxy S4 charges up super fast, and one of the big complaints I had with my HTC One was the extremely slow charging time. Looks like HTC took care of that and it charges up just as fast as my S4.
Now if only HTC would fix that damn LED notification light so that it will stay on for more than 5 minutes, the phone would be PERFECT!
Yep much quicker here too.
Good then I thought I was going crazy but as long as everyone else is the same it's ok
Thanks for the replies

It's interesting if HTC have made it quicker to charge? Wanted to protect it so they made it take a long while, but now they have decided it was too slow I guess?
So the Qualcomm Quick Charge is possibly enabled now? If so that's brilliant, I always seem to have found the HO pretty slow at charging.
Confirmed ? Hadn't noticed myself as I usually charge it before I go to bed ...

Confirmed by me too. Charging is faster now, since updated to 4.2.2.
How much different is it now? I wonder why they decided to make the charge shorter.

This is great can't wait to get it on my T-Mobile USA phone. HTC should've enabled quick charge on day one.

Charging time dropped by at least half for me but I start to wonder if it's gonna affect the battery life coz of course we can't replace the thing
Just to claryfy it was not so much the system upgrade but new firmware I think new hboot and all
I was before on android revoluton hd 4.2.2 with 1.44 hboot and did not notice quick charge but after upgrading to official with new hboot it all changed

I'm pretty sure the change would be in the kernel. Has the 4.2.2 kernel source been released yet? Can someone confirm this?

Source is not out yet.
Wow, by half. That's great. Finally it won't discharge while I'm using and charing. Though wasn't the slow charging allegedly to protect the hard to replace battery?

Yes that was the case.
Now we'll have complaining about losing this.
Reducing the charging time by half is great. I normally charge it while going to bed, but some times I need a quick 30-45 min charge in the afternoon if I used it a lot during the day. This would help a lot of people for sure.
The battery life expectancy isn't worrying I guess.
