Hi,
I just got another Droid Incredible today for a friend of mine. Both seem to have the same software specs.
When I updated the google maps, I didn't see Google Places in the application list as when I did with my first DInc.
Any idea?
I had to reboot to get mine to show up in the app drawer. Don't know if that helps.
Forgive me to ask this dumb question, but does "reboot" mean turn off then turn on?

Hold the power button down, until you are prompted with Phone Options. Seelct Power Off. After it shuts down, power it back on.

Any Help Please,
What's it asking for now?

Because My phone's working fine..?
Hmmm... I think I just found a way to really screw up your phone... let's see what you think of my theory:
1. Put your phone into Airplane mode. This will completly turn off all the radios in the phone.
2. Go into settings and set an unlock pattern.
3. Put your phone into standby mode and turn it back on.
4. If you use up all of your tries at the unlocḱ screen you will have to enter your login details to unlock it. BUT THE PHONE IS STILL IN AIRPLANE MODE. Hence, the phone will not be able to connect to Googles servers for verification. And the worst thing is that not even a shut down of the phone will remove the airplane mode. Not even a removal of the battery.
THe only way to get out of this is to do a hardware reset of the phone.
What do you this of this?

I guess this is the only solution, I did a hardreset.
but this is a very very dangerous bug in the operating system.

at any time you can click and hold the reject call/power off button and it will bring you a list of options one of them is turning off airplane mode
Go on your computer and reset your Gmail password. then try again. It should do the trick.

How so? If you have synched everything with google then everything comes straight back..
Damn annoying, but hardly dangerous!
I just noticed when holding down the power button there are a few options I've never seen before.
Power Off
Silent Mode
Save to Existing
Airplane Mode
2
I'm curious what the save to existing and "2" options are for.. any ideas?

hum, i have some options but not what you have....
Power Off
Silent mode
Vibration mode

Mobile network
I'm curious if there's an app I installed that made these options come up... I'm on the fresh Rom if that helps

LOL, it's a rom that you've installed that made those come up, i'm wagering...
i think he got rid of the mobile network in that ROM, which explains the '2'. probably something similar going on with 'save to existing' (something pointing to mismatched address somewhere)
makes sense. thanks for the input
only one way to find out what they do!

The issue is caused if you flashed the Vanilla Lock Screen. Fresh states the issue on his site.

Under the first paragraph.
Every time I turn off my tablet, the next time I go to use it, it's already on.
Anyone have any suggestions? Is this something that other people are experiencing?
Thanks!
Never experienced that
I don't know, My first N7 is faulty but not that bad, maybe your tablet is reading your mind and it turns on when your thinking about using it?
How are you turning it off? Tapping the power button only turns off display.

That's weird. Are you rooted? Running a rom? On stock? Some additional details would be helpful to solve your problem.

It's clearly haunted.
Or an app is waking it up to sync / find location / steal and transmit your data.
Have you tried running Avast ? Locking all the running apps ?

quite strange..
I don't believe apps can turn it on when it's off..so if you turn your N7 off, your alarm is disabled. at least, I'm pretty sure of that.
And, so you watch it turn off all the way? And later on it's on?
Is it plugged in to the charger?
Have you ever watched it for a little while [while you were doing something else, just glancing at it once in a while] to see if it just randomly turns on?

really? but how does that work?
that means the clock app must be able to control the rtc hardware, and tell it to power up at a certain time... I didn't know they'd done that on the N7...

Calendar -> Settings -> General Settings -> uncheck Notifications
It's a shot in the dark but who knows..
Or I suppose if you like you could disable calendar sync in Accounts & Sync, and then erase Calendar's data.
For some reason my screen won't shut off when I press the power button or by itself after any amount of time. I made sure all of the settings were set right that might keep it on. I know it's not hardware damage because I've pretty much never dropped it or handled it hard. The power button still works because it will get the turn off, restart, etc screen to go. Any idea how to fix it? I already did a factory reset.

Dial *#0*# check some test for dimming, sleep etc.

Download wakelock detector and see which app is keeping your screen on.
Dialed that number, the dimming worked, but the sleep button didn't do anything. I'll try that app out and see what it says.
In my understanding *#0*# dialing is for hardware check, if sleep is not working from there means it has nothing to do with any app & better to take to service centre.

It didn't do it until after I tried to change my boot screen. Know if that would do anything? No boot animations go off besides the galaxy note 3 one (no Tmobile or samsung animation, and no shut off animation). I also rooted it so would they still help me even though the knox counter is 0x1?
Any help? Using the wakelock app it says that system manager application is used a lot more than anything else. Not sure what it does.

Try to flash complete stock ROM & clear Data & Catch before & after flashing from recovery may HELP.
That fixed it. I'm not sure why I didn't already try that since it seems kinda obvious. Don't know what made it do that though. Do you happen to know if modifying the boot animations can mess other things up?
Mine its not rooted still stock and all of the sudden started acting up with the screen ....i did the *# test and when i went to sleep it went straight to the lock screen ...any idea what could cause it
help

Mine does this every time I reboot my phone. I have to press and hold the home key, pick the pie chart, pick RAM and pick "Clear Memory". Then it's fine til the next time I reboot.
I had my note 3 with the same problem and solved it recovering the original system/media/bootsamsung*.qmg files.
to solve the problem plug the charger and unplug it immediately and plug it back in again. This is also the reason why the problem is caused. So doing it again will solve the problem.
Is there any possibility of having a "Hibernate" mode in Android Marshmallow, or is this already implemented in any roms? Like, it saves the current state to memory before it powers down so that when you turn it back on again, it just resumes that state in a few seconds instead of taking a few minutes to boot up from scratch?
No. Sorry This doesn't exist and nothing like it
That's what doze is trying to do, it essentially hibernates your phone while on.
But to completely power off the device then power back up quicker than normal like your TV, does not exist at all anywhere

I know at least HTC phones used a hibernation mode, they called it quick boot or fast boot though. Not sure if they still have it on current gen devices.

Yeah, I honestly hated this feature.
When holding the power button, you only have a "power off" button if you didn't have APM installed. If you were trying to fix an issue via rebooting, you had to do a hard shutdown/restart.

I always turned it off because it meant you couldn't use fastboot.
