I just applied an official T-mobile screen protector for vibrant... Applied it well with no air bubbles... but when I turned my display on.. I saw that it makes the screen look really blurry and kind of pixelated because of poor quality plastic texture...
I also noticed that the plastic film that the vibrant came with was better quality because it was completely see through and it never worsened the quality of phone's display.
Does anyone else see this with T-mobile screen protectors???
Any recommendations on which one to buy?
I feel like T-mobile really failed at making a screen protector for such a brilliant display.
I always get screen protectors on Amazon. They are so much cheaper.
I really like the T-mo case for Vibrant though.
Get the realook screen protectors. They cover the whole entire screen and buttons, can't tell there is a screen protector, and feels like there is no screen protector on!
They are $10.99 I believe for 2 of them on eBay and Amazon.
What about not falling for the screen protector scam these company are running, You dont need a screen protector for this phone, and anything you put on this S amoled screen will lower the quality of the screen, Remember you are applying a film of something that will have an impact. Go Naked its gorgeous.

How can you say that... There is No mention of Vibrant having a gorilla glass! On Euro Galaxy S model it does say that it has a gorilla glass protecting the screen.
Plus many users on xda said that they got tiny scratches from having the phone in their pocket.. without anything else in it! So there goes to show you still need a screen protector to protect from salt on finger tips and sand in pockets.
I keep my phone in my pocket with keys, coins and any number of other things and I do it naked (but that's besides the point)
I also saw a video on YouTube in Japanese where the guy was trying to scratch it with razor blades, keys, dropping it and various other tortures. I wish I had the link. Anyway, I agree that this phone does not need a screen protector and you will only be degrading the visual impact to some degree. With that said I know that many people just feel better about doing so.

Thanx for your comment... I have seen the video you're speaking of... I was just very sceptical since they show the european galaxy s in there and not the vibrant... And since u said u keep it with ur keys and w/o screen protect that is good news! Thanx!!! I guess Im gona take my ugly t-mobile rip off screen protector off
+1 on the realook. You can't even tell it's on there (can't say the same for clearfreak and definitely not the t-mo one. I tried them both.)
By the way, there are plenty of reports of people scratching the Vibrant screen w/ normal use.

The T-Mobile screen protector are a real sh**. I bouth it when i bouth the phone and they are a poor quality ones and dont cover the entire screen
No gorilla glass?
There were several articles posted in the last week or so (Engadget, Gizmodo, Androidguys) about how it turns out that gorilla glass was indeed used on the Galaxy phones.
Skinomi....

It has already been confirmed that the vibrant has gorilla glass. I'm not saying it won't scratch. Its probably a tad more resistant.

I'm with sano614, I bought and have had the Realook protectors from Day 1 and they are crystal clear, so much so that you can't tell you even have it on, but the protection is there. It's also great that for the price you get two of them. Here's a link to some customer reviews on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/REALOOK-T-Mobile-Samsung-Vibrant-Protector/product-reviews/B003WL4W6M
Whatever you choose, put something on it. You paid good money for the phone.

I could bet that these people think they scratched it as I thought mine was scratched SEVERAL times but it was just weird smudges or something that looked like a scratch. After thorough wiping the scratch turned out to be an illusion. My glass is perfectly FLAWLESS with no special treatment whatsoever.
Take it for what it's worth. Maybe I've just been extremely lucky.
Went through 3 different screen protectors and by far Realook is the best. I can't even tell it's even on there.
Realook is amazing, I have had quite a few compliments on it after I tell them there is a screen protector because they don't realize one is there. +1 realook

+1 for Realook ! Like everyone here already mentioned, you can hardly feel its presence after you apply it and you know you are protected.
I've used Tmobile's screen protector. It gives the display a scattered rainbow like look. The only good thing was the matt finish was very less reflective and less prone to finger prints. I replaced it with Realook and I'm loving it.
I also have used screen protectors religiously. This time I had zagg, **** was too sticky feeling so I ripped it off after some friends said they go naked on there evos, n1s and incredible, so, I said hell, I never put it in my pocket with anything anyways.
Well, Its just sooooo much better without one. Ive yet to get a scratch either and even dropped it in between the seats of the car and it hit all the way down. One guy up above mentioned it looking like theres scratches but were wiped away, Ive also had those and thought, "oh crap I got a scratch," but realized it wiped right off and my screen also is flawless still.
Gorilla glass or not this bad boy is tough... Just reserve one pocket for your phone only. My right is only my phone and my left is everything else. Pretty soon it will become second nature and you wont even need to think what pocket to put **** in...
GO naked, screw protectors.
Honestly, if realook wasn't this amazing, then I would have definitely gone naked since all other screen protectors seem to take away from the Super AMOLED screen. But to all honesty, realook is awesome. It seriously doesn't feel like there's anything on the screen once installed.
The vibrant may have gorilla glass, but why not invest $10 bucks to protect a $500 phone anyways?
I don't run a screen protector and haven't had any problems with the vibrant or my old G1. I do keep my vibrant in my old G1 pouch case though when its in my pocket.

Ok.. so I'm going down to get my HD2 today... Any reviews on scratch resistance compared to a non scratch resistant phone? Like my women I like my phone as naked as possible all the time.. I usually keep my phones out of cases and without screen protectors.. but this one with such a giant shiny screen I'm considering.
Opinions? Anyone with a few months of unaltered/uncovered Hd2 experience... comments would be greatly appreciated.

if you search this on youtube (or even google) you'll find a video proving just how ridiculously scratch proof the screen is.
I pretty much guarantee you're about to get a torrent of comments, all from people insisting that the screen is 100% scratch resistant and that you're a fool if you waste money on a screen protector. 99% of posts on this subject do say that. However, I have seen about 4 or 5 posts in the past 5 months (since getting mine and therefore ending up on this forum) stating that it's not impervious to scratches. There's a few people out there that do wish they'd got screen protectors.
You'll also be linked (no doubt) to a video on YouTube of a guy using keys and a razor blade on the screen. (Edit: Lol - see above!) These leave no apparent scratches, but it does scratch the screen. It scratches it in a manner that is so slight that it can be wiped off, but it will come back again. Trust me - that's what happened to mine. I have since applied a screen protector and have never seen it since. (The scratches are so slight that you can't see them, but natural oils on your skin make it show up, so you end up having to clean it off after every use. A screen protector obviously stops any oils or greasiness getting in there, which is why I've never seen it again.)
Anyway, for the sake of a few quid, I personally think you'd be daft not to. It a "just in case" measure, but I'd rather have a screen protector and not need it, than regret not getting one.
Incidentally, if you do look into getting a protector, I'd highly recommend the one I got. You can take it off and wash it if you get stuff behind it when you apply it! It's great for me as I seem to attract dust and cat hairs!

A bit more pricey than most, but 3 for 2 is good and it really is a good protector.
Hope this helps mate

Screens on HD2 are the same type of crap screen as on Iphony. They are made from glass so not so resistant to drops and hits as any other HTC screen. Trust me screens from other HTC's are super durable as I dropped my phone on m-way at m-way speed from my motorcyce and phone was working no cracks on screen.
I have put screen protector because screen is less sensitive and ghost touches do not appear so often but also because protector is plastic it provides extra layer of protection for screen.
At first I thought HD2 was really scratch resistant. But when I saw my friend who was trying to install a cheap screen protector on his HD2 with my credit card, I changed my mind. After installing the screen protector, which result was really bad with too many bubbles, he took it out, cleaned the screen again with cloth. And guess what, under the bright light, we noticed a small hair line scratch, really hardly noticeable, but, definitely by the credit card.
So please dont believe in these videos. Put in a screen protector for your HD2. Try martin fields or brando, they are 99% clear so your HD2 will still be naked as u wish.
I dropped my phone today, only from no more then 6-7 inches, it slid along the ground screen side down for a couple of feet, fearing the worst I grabbed it and was surprised at how little damage there was, the case has a scuff where it hit the floor and there are very light scratches on the screen but only barely visible under direct bright light.
Gutted that it's marked already but hey could of been a lot worse
thanks for the replies... well I picked up the Hd2 and so far so good.. loving it.. especially now that I'm tethering at work at fantastic speeds.. and incoming calls can come in and the tethering continues to work.. kicks my palm pre's butt in that regard.
As far as screen protector.. I'm gonna throw one on.. if it annoys me I'll remove it and not worry about it.
Thanks again for the input
when I had my cliq I was a huge fan of Boxwave Anti-glare screen protector.it took a little bit away from screen clarity but made up for it with superior gliding ability and easy application, not too mention almost eternal life-span...however, now that I have a screen worth showing off, what would be the best screen protector that preserves clarity, but also has a good feel?
The realook screen protectors are great. Just make sure you read and follow the instructions.

I like these guys - http://www.ghost-armor.com/ they have a kiosk in the malls near me and they do a much better job of applying SP's than I can.
If I were going to do my own I'd buy something from Zagg and put it on...
Zagg = Sticky! Not good.
My wife has been using Zagg stuff for a few years, and I always hated the 'sticky' element. Smoothing dragging is impossible with their product.
A few months ago there was a convo on here, and the guy from Phantom Skinz popped in. I grabbed their Carbon-Fiber skin (came with 2 screen protectors), and I have been _Extremely_ happy. People often comment on the skin (and I have a custom metamorph for nearly the entire phone - which throws people off as well), and the screen protector isn't sticky at all, and has held up very well under my abuse.
Couldn't recommend them enough.
Like everyone else Realook is the best out there, I promise it is like is not even there, sometimes I even forget I have it on.
I have 3 Vibrants with Realook and they are virtually invisible.
I tried them all... errr, ok I only tried the store bought tmo brand on my Vibrant, but nothing compares to the "Realook" brand. Ive had BSE and ZAGG on previous phones but the realook is the ONLY one that has ever looked 100% invisible like the screen is naked. This in itself makes it worth every penny considering how important it is to NOT cover our amazing AMOLED screen. And not to mention that the darn thing practically installs itself. Ive never seen such a ridiculously easy SP application. I remember thinking to myself, "crap I could have thrown the SP at the phone and it would have installed just fine" LOL, I'm not kidding, I really did think this...
Realook hands down.... period!
Another vote for Realook and big vote against Zagg. There are people who swear by them and say everyone else is installing them wrong, but mine was terrible. Luckily they do have a 100% refund policy
Steinheil's are also pretty good.
With either Realook or Steinheil, get the crystal clear kind. Can't tell it's there at all.
Another vote for Realook. I've tried a ton of screen protectors, and these are by far the best. I cannot even tell there is a screen protector on.
And the price is good. I think I paid $10.99 with free shipping for 2 of them. They sell them themselves on eBay and Amazon.
I was a skeptic but tried the RL due to the popularity on here. It is very good. I would recommend splitting the costs with another XDA user. Also, while it is a good SP, I still do not believe one is needed, and it WILL add a lot of finger smudges.
I've tried many screen protectors, believe it or not, I like the generic universal screen protectors from tmo that you cut to size yourself.
has worked great!
I vote for Martin Fields, barely visible. Only problem is you see fingerprints when the screen is off. (no biggy)
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I vote for REALook, not visible what so ever. Finger prints though are worse than ive seen on any other screen protector, at least I think so. But it cleans well and like I said its like the no screen protector real look, hence the name.
The best I have seen are the "Cellet" brand from Frys (saves shipping too).
I've used the real look ones, the cellet are a bit clearer.
Yes I know....you just have to see for yourself.
I don't have a screen protector on, I like just having gorilla glass. Unless you carry around an open blade in your pocket I see no need. I've TRIED to key my screen and that didn't even scratch it
I agree with the previous poster, unless you travel with a pocket full of diamonds the Gorilla glass will obviate the need for a screen protector.
I disagree with both previous posters. Ive seen plenty of gorilla glass scratches to date, one in fact got terribly scratched from top to bottom and the upset owner never identified what the culprit was, all he found in his pocket next to his phone was small amounts of lint. I dont care how hard this glass is, its going to stay pristine and Im not going to take the chance with even the smallest scratch. I may be extra extra careful with this phone, but if I decide to go naked that will be the same day that this phone decides to fly out of my hand and onto the concrete below face first... No freggin way thank you very much. lol
I have a Droid X with gorilla glass and thought I was being careful.
I did get a couple of very small scratches in the glass, so I wound up using a protector.
The reallook ones are very good.

Did the reallook sp hide the scratches by chance?
Sad day in the life of SlightlyAmused. Put the phone in my coat pocket and it happened. One good size scratch down the edge, now it don't bug me too much but I figure it would be best to get a zagg on this bad boy asap. The problem is I cannot find any online!
Does anyone know where I can find some?
Also, for those who use them, will zaggs make my screen feel "draggy" or does it still feel natural?
Did you scratch the screen or the phone plastics? The screen's supposed to be scratch proof.
The screen. I have read that if there is sand between a credit card or something it can happen. I think its just resistant and not proof.
I had a Zagg on my N900 and it did feel a little rubbery/draggy. Either you get used to it or it wears off, not sure which but the feeling goes away.
I really want to find a screen protecter that is exactly like the ones supplied with the HTC Hermes and Kaiser in the box. Best screen protectors i ever had. Barely even noticed they were there and they lasted the time i had the phones.
I found a review on Steinheil protectors and they look good. Sadly they don't have any for Defy. Oh well, maybe next month.
Just be careful around sand and hard surfaces. I have read alot online so far that people have scratched the glass on other devices with gorilla with only sand in their pocket or on the beach face down. Everything else doesn't seem to effect it.
Hi,
for my Defy, i ordered Vikuiti (TM) DQC-160 3M
I hope it works well
DING!
Looks great and the reviews are all pretty good. The whole finger print thing dosnt really bother me as I usually wipe it off after I use it, or during it (hard to play casino kid 2 with finger prints imo).
Hopefully it covers a little of the scratch I have on the screen
Thanks!
and you believed them?

hmmm, those that believe that Corning Gorilla Glass is scratch proof are gullible, and mislead by Motorolas claim that the Defy is dust scratch and water therefore life proof, I have a Samsung Preston here that begs to differ thanks to the dirty big diagonal scratch down it's face
and I also have a still camera that Olympus swears to be "waterproof" despite the angry protests of almost everyone else who bought one which just goes to show you can never believe what a company says about their product
if you're wise you would fit a screen protector to it the very moment you unbox it like I did with my Sex1
and will do with my new Defy When I get it
(decision made!)
I wish realook made them for the defy. They are by far my favorite

imo phone never feels as responsive with a screen protector on - I have always used them when I had non touch screen phones, and when I got my Hero I tried a number of different ones and always felt they weren't working very well, when I just decided to start using it without one, it felt like a different phone. I haven't bothered with the Defy, not because of the scratch proof claims. I think the best defence is just to get in the habit of putting it in an empty pocket etc.
I feel the same about them until I put a realook protector on my vibrant. It's pretty awesome.

One I found in my search for protectors was skinomi have it ordered but still waiting.
Why not put your phone in an empty pocket? Hell, I did that with my dumbphones before touchscreen was a readily available feature.
Plus, isn't putting a screen protector on Gorilla Glass like putting tissue paper over kevlar?
for what little protection
where work is always better ... and is not an office
if you happen to a simple scratch , throw away the tissue paper
I am so used to just tossing it in my pocket that I dont really think about whats in there. When I rocked my BB9700 I would always throw it in the holster and I think I will be looking around tomorrow for either a generic screen protector or case for the phone.
I must admit the phone can take a beating.
I got a couple of decent sized scratches from a lighter in my pocket within 3 days (the perils of smoking!).
I just received my skinomi a couple of days ago and am most impressed so far. Using the wet one, I have no bubbles and cannot see the scratches now. It feels smooth on the finger, shows less finger prints and I have lost no accuracy. I will be interested to see how well the self healing thing works, as every other cover I have used ends up covered in scratches within a week.
I will post how it holds up over time

I can understand that. My new years resolution is to quit smoking.....year 15 of failed new years. I'm starting to think this whole "sticking to it" isnt for me.
I've had the skinomi on for a few weeks now. It is the most impressive protector I have ever seen.
I can't see the original scratch, nor can I see fingerprints much. I can see better in light and it feels better than the gorilla glass- smooth but rubbery with no grab. It is as responsive as stock and has no dulling effect on the screen.
I do have some scratches-more like pits from having it in my pocket with keys and a lighter and other stuff while climbing around at work. I realized I had my full bodyweight on it and I feared I would crack the glass, and it's hard to describe how I knew I had given it way beyond normal abuse, and I have cracked a screen before with half the pressure- these pits haven't gone away so I ordered another one without hesitation even though I can only notice them on angles, and even then not much (I could have gone for the lifetime warranty replacement but I feel I really pushed it beyond its purpose, and it's too much hassle -with the GET25 discount it's only $8 anyway, and I was getting one for my wife's Desire that I gave her when I got the Defy). If I had my Desire in my pocket that day, I would guarantee it would have cracked.
I can see no other scratches, and one's I have had just fade away in days, as it is self healing.
Does anyone know if there is any good "anti-finger print" screen protector?
The finger print just drive me nuts...

Okay I thought i'd make this quick thread to help you guys out. Some of you Xperia users don't realize Sony Preinstalls this screen protector or should i say "Shatter Glass" on all of their devices. Is this good? Simple answer, NOT. AT. ALL. When i took the shatter glass off i noticed an increase in brightness and the phone was more vibrant and so i order this Nu-Clear Screen protector off Amazon And it is the best screen protector I have ever had. It is so smooth and feels like its not even there and the phone is just as vibrant with it as it is without it. This screen protector only cost $3 with free shipping when you sign up for Prime on Amazon which i suggest you do because its free for a month and ou cn just cancel it before that.
Heres the link
amazon.com/gp/product/B005KGBCFG/ref=cm_cr_thx_view
To take off that preinstalled shatter glass i sugest ou use something thin and sharp because it's on there pretty damn good. I used a razor blade and started picking at the bottom left of the phone right by the back button and had it off in no time.
Now when installed the Nu-clear screen protector clean the phone with some windex and a paper napkin then wipe off the phone with the microfiber cleaning cloth and blow away all the dust. Then when applying a screen protector i suggest you peel it off just a little so you can align it up with the top of the phone. Once lined up start pulling back the tab little by little while pushing a card(credit card or whatever) to make sure no air bubbles pop up.
This video pretty much shows you what i mean.
youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=euIPR-yTZrE
Hope i helped because that preinstalled shatter glass was just annoying and was a magnet for scratches!
This is totally irrelevent, but sign up to Jackthreads best site to buy hot brands at up to 80% off fully legit.

So there is a layer that comes installed on the phone already? Nice to know I can remove it because I've scratched it up pretty good and I've only had the phone about two weeks. I haven't even really done anything to scratch it either, so I was actually a little upset when I started noticing them.
Sent from my R800x using XDA App
Be careful, if you remove that layer you need to put on some other sort of screen protector. If you don't you'll notice that if your hands are moist at all the touch screen won't work properly.

I've used two types, the one that came with the otterbox encasement, which turned out horribly.. had a bubble within the screen protector almost immediately, but that could've been my fault, but i had to re apply it several times, which only seemed to multiply the air trapped between the screen and protector. And I used the standard AT&T screen protectors, which are amazing, they're thick, anti smudge, clear, and since they're pretty thick, they don't bubble at all, really easy to apply too. but it's like 16 bucks for 2.
.. and i just realized that op might just be advertising.
me too man, i smell a salesman.. hehe
I bought the phone and shop gave me a cheap screen protector... now I have smudges of fingerprints all over (oily hands).. but then, still better than naked.
Guess I'll change to matte (anti-fingerprint) type after this. Anyone using matte? Is it good on xplay?
It comes with a protector on it, there really is no need to replace it. My screen is perfectly bright with it on. I clean my screen off a few times a day with a little cloth, looks brand new after every wiping. (im also SUPER careful with my phone, and I hate fingerprints, OCD)
It isn't even a screen protector it's ah shatter glass

Just want to clarify that :>>>> the touch screen is whether made of Glass or Plastic? In case of Glass, it's no need to add a screen protector and remove the pre-install screen protector can improve the screen quality and touch response.

It's a glass screen, but not gorilla glass like on the iPhone. Hence the pre-installed shatterproof film
Is anyone here going Nakey with no screen protector? i've got one on right now and i can't STAND how the edges of the protector collect dust... i feel like taking it off..
Tell me your experiences with none on, is your screen getting scratches?
I hate screen protectors as well. That said, everytime I've tried to go nekkid, I've eventually ended up with scratches. No matter how careful you are, it seems, Gorilla Glass WILL scratch. Relatively easily IMO.
I picked up an InvisibleShield HD from Best Buy and it is super clear and flush. I dont even notice it on there.

I will prob go with no screen protector, I had my HTC Hero for 3 years and had very minimal scratching without a screen protector. I only ever put my phone in my pocket on its own. I also keep my phones for the 3 year term that I get them on so by time the 3 years is up the re-sale value doesn't really matter to me any way so if it has some minor scratches it doesn't matter much since I will prob just pass the phone to someone for free anyway. Not to mention it looks and feels better without the protector and why not have the best experience with your phone instead of babying it.
I've never had one on my E4GT and it only has a few super faint scratches that you have to turn it off and put in sunlight to see. I don't think I'll put one on my GSIII either - they always end up getting bubbles or peeling back at some point.

I am not sure... It is a sticky on one side and you apply a solution to apply it to the screen which makes positioning it very easy.

Wet.
I'm going nude too
The only phone I've ever had a tiny scratch in was with my Droid Bionic. But it was my work phone which means that I didn't baby it the way I normally do with my phones. None of my phones have ever had any scratch on them, and in fact the only phone that did have a screen protector on it, broke. Not that a screen protector is supposed to prevent it from breaking after someone stepped on it but yeah that's another story. I'm also planning on getting a white one and don't think it would look too nice after a while as the glue around the edges gets dark.
I figure as long as my pockets are free from anything else and they stay clean that I shouldn't have any issues with the screen. Just take care of your stuff people. Also while i'm at it, I think it's disgusting when people here scratch their screen then return it for another one. That's not anyone's fault but your own. There is already a high demand for these devices and the carrier or samsung should not be held responsible for that.
*gets off my soap box*
Screen protectors are a pain in the ass. Get rid of it. You can always tell that it's on there. Just take care of your phone. I keep my right pocket for the phone only. I never put anything in my right pocket except for the phone.
I never use a screen protector. Never got scratches on my phone either. This is gorilla glass 2, so if you mess this up you don't need a phone

Stick your finger in the sand at the beach, then swipe your finger across your screen. Report back.
Sand will scratch the screen. Sand is actually at locations other than the beach and may come into contact with your phone/finger.
One year on the nexus and not a single scratch. My daughters epic is 2 years old without a single scratch and she just throws it in her book bag. Neither have ever had screen protectors.

I think most people would notice if sand came in contact with their phone/finger and wouldn't have an issue scratching the phone.
I've never used a screen protector, nor do I have any intention of using one on this device. My s2 looks like the day I got it.

Meh. Some sand/dirt is overseen depending on its size as not all dirt/sand is the same size. You can google gorilla glass and scratches and see it will scratch. I'm not saying everybody will scratch their screen, but I'm not taking any chances. Besides, I'm a pro at putting on screen protectors so I do it anyways..
If you are worried about scratches, I'd rather get a flip cover or slide in pouch than taint the display with a screen protector. Granted I live in the midwest and there isn't exactly a lot of beaches around, but I had my Epic since launch and never put anything on it and the screen still looks like new (the bezel not so much). It's even been dropped a few times landing facedown on my driveway/garage floor.
I have been naked on my phones the past several years and no visible or major scratches. If you are careful and don't put coins or keys in same pocket you should be good.
I'm going without a screen protector. One reason is that I suck at putting them on and get really annoyed with the bubbles and dust particles underneath. But the screen is just too good to cover up with a protector. I take good care of my phones so I don't have to worry too much about scratches. I had my GS2 for 8 months with no protector and no scratches at all. I put it in my pocket without anything else and it was fine. I make sure my hands are clean before using my phone.
I always start out with a protector, then end up taking it off after 6 months or so and that's with every Smartphone I've ever owned 2007-present.
