Downloading paid applications? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

For some reason I cannot download any paid apps. I would click on buy and it would make me choose an option to either bill it to me (T-Mobile bill) or use a credit card.
I would pick bill it to me and then receive an email saying it went through.
Here is the problem...
When I go to install from the market, I would see authorizing purchase, downloading then it would say download unsuccessful. EVERY TIME!
I did a search on Google and people were saying it has something to do with gtalk since they're linked to the market. I would have to sign out and resigned in. I have Shu8i build so gtalk doesn't come with it. I downloaded the free Beta of BeeJive and that had gtalk, but the sign out then in didn't work.
They also said to force stop and clear cache of the Market in the settings of manage applications, but that doesn't work.
Anyone have this issue and found a solution?
Thanks!

So nobody tried buying a paid app in the Market on the HTC HD2 with Android?

I had some problems with this earlier today...I went to 'settings|Applications|Manage Applications|{All Tab}' and selected Market. Then click Clear Data, and Force stop. Then it worked for me...don't remember if I did a reboot or not.

Umount the SD card. Go to market and install the app or apps you want and when done installing all the apps the remount the SD card.

[Q] Just updated phone, now theres no market?

I just updated my phone for the first time. Its now 2.2. Ugh. My main issue is I no longer have a market! When I click on the market icon, it says "Application is not installed on phone." Called verizon, their only fix was to do a factory reset, which I don't want to do. Any way around this? I want the market back!!
Sounds like its time to factoy reset. All your paid apps and contacts will be backup throu ur gmail account

Delete google account

I've searched and searched and nothing has worked. I can't wipe.
I don't know how u mean, but if you'd like to unbind your phone from your account you have to go to Settings->Acc & sync->[Choose your account]->Remove. The other thing is to completely delete your account, to do this go to https://www.google.com/accounts/ManageAccount, click Edit and select Close account and delete all services and info associated with it, comfirm it and you deleted your account

i looked in my google voice account and theres no such options as to the first method that you suggested....
Could you be a little more specific on what you are trying to do? Do you not want to have any google account on your phone? Are you wanting to switch to a different google account? Are you trying to delete your gmail account completely?
i know what you are trying to do. You are trying to remove the google account you associated your phone with right? Well, unfortunately you cannot do that. You would need to reflash the ROM to be able to do so.
Refpashing is a bit brutal. A hard reset should be enough.

Or you goto manage applications and reset defaults for all google apps...

You could also grab Android ID changer and change your ID (Google account associated with your current ROM). Then, you could switch back and forth. *shrugs*...
Factory Reset is the safest way. Changing ID can invalidate all your apps and bugger it up, plus you can't use ID changer if your phone is NANDLOCKED.
I spent a lot of research on this, there is just too much data that needs to be changed to simply switch your primary Google authentication account. Make your backups then Factory Reset, just as the Sync settings suggests.

But its faster just to reset the accounts and not have to redownload all the apps, resync facebook and whatever else is going on...
Uhuh... and how exactly does one get around the message saying you cannot delete the default Google account? Once you sign in to Google on firstboot for market, the phone is locked to that Market account.
As for redownloading all your apps, I take it you've never used Titanium Backup or MyBackup Pro. Note that if you buy something on Market, you cannot transfer that purchase to another Gmail account.

You're not deleting the account..you're just clearing data and defaults for the app..I've used TB and did forget to note that in my post..so thanks..as for MyBackup Pro I haven't..if you're rooted can't you still move purchased apks to the sdcard?

You mean going to "Accounts and Sync" in TB > Wipe Data? I did that, but it resulted in FC's whenever trying to go back to add a new account. The Google Account ID assigned to the phone is a lot more tied-in than simple appdata, I even did a full find/replace on com.android.* databases and the best I got was annoying "Authentication failed" errors on startup, and Market, Gtalk, etc. All had FC's.
The .android_secure folder on SD cannot be hotswapped between phones, they need to be re-registered in the package registry... which TB handles mostly perfectly. Some paid apps do fail authentication checks after a TB restore though due to custom fingerprinting it seems, and have to be "revalidated" via Market install. One example that comes to mind is Flow (Facebook client) and Executive Assistant+.

How old is that? I don't have "Gmail" nor "Google Apps" installed. The manual database method mentioned is what I did, resulting in corruption (the account was still there but I got 'Authentication Failed' from Market on startup). Risky. But good luck....

[SOLVED][Q] Marketplace apps after ROM install??

Why don't all my apps show up in the marketplace after rooting my phone and using a new ROM? Is there a way to make them reappear?
Did you sign in with the same Google account? When you say "all" does that mean that some are there and some are not?
Yes, I signed in with the exact sme account. It would appear that the only visible apps are those I've purchased. Any others that are free don't show up in My Apps.

Try signing out of the "Talk" app and signing back in. Then check the apps one more time.
Nope. That didnt do anything.

you have to configure the market on your son acc. and download skype again.. the metro apps, i believe, storage the data in users folder.. i have 3 acc and in 2 of them skype metro App.. but i have to have installed twice to work.
sry for my english ^^
The "run in the background" behavior of Skype may not be compatible with multiple accounts using it at once. Make sure you closed Skype on your other account (or fully log out the account) before trying to use it on your son's account. If that doesn't fix the issue, open the settings for Skype and disable the background stuff. Then try again.
It *might* be possible to leave the bg stuff enabled on one account, but not any others? I haven't tried. That *might* mot be the issue at all. If you have Visual Studio, you can try using its debugger to see what the problem is (it has an option for debugging installed Store apps). That might not work with Skype though; it usually hasa bunch of anti-debugger stuff in it.

Locked out of US Play Store

I travel in and out of the US a couple times a year. ATM, I have a US payment method and address, I'm in the US using a T-Mobile SIM. I can't access country-restricted apps, such as Pandora and Hulu. According to MarketHelper (or whatever it was called) I am T-Mobile US. I've called contacted Google, and they've refused support since I'm running a custom ROM (CM nightlies). Hence two questions:
Any ideas about the market issues?
How can I revert to stock and be able to come back to CM easily? I can't make a nandroid because I have 10GB of Google Music.

try clearing the data for the market app, then reopen it and log in.
Google had me do that, and also the data for Google Play services. By logging back in, do you mean delete my Google account from sync settings and re-add it?

no. when you open the play store after deleting data, it asks you to accept terms of use. i meant that.
Yes, that I did

Google uses a combination of the country your email address was reg in, as well as a few other things to determine what country store your app uses.
That's unfortunate, but how can I force it to reset? I don't even remember what country my email was registered in, but I'm sure in the US now and have been for the last year. I can confirm it's account related because I logged into another account and it works fine.

Only way is to contact google about it and tell the what is going on. They maybe be able to help you but dont hold out to hope.
Yes, they're support is pure garbage. I've been in contact with them but they're really no help.
Try going to Google Play My Account > Settings and confirm the carrier and device is correct. Next, try to install Pandora to the device. If it wont, it tell you why.
As I said previously is T Mobile US and I can't install Pandora. It seems to be an account issue because with a different account on my phone or on the website I can install Pandora

Try installing it from the web site with the same account that does not work on your phone. I may hint as to why it won't install.
When I had my Nexus S in Paris on SFR SIM, I was able to install SFR apps, but not update some US restricted ones, so I believe the market is tied to the SIM card, regardless of where the Google account was created. Other services, like Google Voice would depend on where the account was created (US only).
SIM, payment method, addresses are all US now.
I can't install even from the web (using my account).
With a different account I can install from my phone or web.
From the website it says: "This item cannot be installed in your device's country"

OK, your account still thinks you have a NON US SIM card. Power off, remove the SIM, power on and connect to WiFi. Check the web and see if the carrier clears itself. If you have market enabler installed, remove it, or try a different US carrier.
This is a bit of a stretch, but could you make a new gmail in the U.S and just use that one for the market?

I can confirm this works, I logged in from my work gmail and it works just fine. It seems like it would be a radical step to switch my Gmail account though. Theres gotta be a better way.
I called again, and this time they had me do something similar but slightly different (and ridiculous if you as me). I went to a paid app that WAS available to me (I randomly chose Minecraft) and I clicked buy (it was showing the wrong currency but I clicked anyhow) and then accepted the permissions, leading me to the next screen, which is a confirmation screen, in which the app will be purchased if you hit buy again but you don't, and you hit back and go back to the app. At this point you exit the Play Store and then (without force stopping it) you clear its data. You open it again, accept the terms and voilá! At least in my case this solved it, for some reason...
I must add that I removed foreign credit cards from google wallet (which according to previous conversations with them should have been a non-issue unless it was selected as default, which it never was), that I had on file but haven't used lately, so maybe that was related and that + a wipe of play store data was needed, I guess I'll never know now...
