C'mon HTC, get it together - HD2 General

WTF is going on with this thing?
A phone of this spec, and it can't even play a music album in the order it's supposed to be in, and after every song, I have to go into the audio booster and put it back on!
Only minor things I know, but surely they should have figured this out.
Apple have, so have Nokia...............
Oh btw, I've tried the reg tweak on the audio booster. Doesn't work for me.
I've tried using the home button instead of done.
I've tried renaming my music files with numbers at the beginning. No joy.
Really disapointed with this.
I use the music player in my car allot, and this is just redicularse.

The player doesnt look at the file order, it only sees the tags.
its probably the tags inside the mp3. I have seen albums where all teh tracks have 1 as the track number, in which case the player will put them in alphabetical order.

Thanks for the reply.
I'm probably being thick, but not sure what you mean by tags???

inside mp3's (and wma files) there is data such as 'artist, album, track number, genre, notes' and more.
To see what i mean, do you have winamp on your PC? if so, open one of the mp3's, select it in the playlist on the right, and hit Alt+f3
This pops up a box that shows the tags for that track.
There are loadsssss of mp3 tag programs, and everyone youask will advise a different one, and since i dont use one, , i wont recommend one!

the man in dublin knows his way around the phone
knowing the song not playing in the right sequence has nothing to do with the phone and is rather an issue with bad mp3 naming

I defend the OP to an extent, the mp3 playback is Sense is a bit shabby. I used (before Android) S2P player, as Sense is a lot worse experience than I used to get even on dumb-phones such as Sony Ericssons.

sorry but i never had a problem with properly named songs in albums

Use both the Football Aqualizer Fix and SRS WOW HD,and only than we can have a conversation.
EDIT.in SRS WOW HD in the settings select the Headphone option and NOT the Internal Speaker.
edit2.the Football Aqualizer Fix will keep the Audio Booster until your next Reset.

I'd be happy if someone fixed the gaps between tracks issue.

Best mp3 Player software?

Hi guys, I have just installed Pocket Player, which I am happy with, however being an imate Jam owner I of course want the best!
So before I part with my money and purchase one, what would you guys say the best software available is?
Thanks
For me, it's Pocket Player Plus. The Auto Screen Off features saves me lots of battery time and the alarm feature is just as great as well.
This is the one you want:
http://www.pocketmind.com/
http://www.sto-helit.de/freeware/pocketpc/mortplayer/en/index.pl
I don't know..
Had some troubles with my SDcard drooping data and Pocketmusic. Maybe it happened only to me?..
Think WMP is doing the job oki.. miss some customization but its installed default so i think its waste of space not using it.
I second romix's suggestion. I find that mortplayer fits my bill the best, Pocketplayer was sluggish on my O2 mini and WMP couldn't play some of my own mp3s encoded with LAME but okie on the others... :?:
I have found BetaPlayer to be the best. Not very flashy - but very stable and has all teh features you could want. Plays mp3, DivX and ogg among others.

I had the same problems with pocket music, installed on SD. The solution is to disable the today plugin, the you don't get the annoying error message. I guess it has somthing to do with the delay when data is on the SD.
Now it works great... set "turn off display" to 5 sec or whatever you prefere, and lock hardwarebuttons and you are good to go.
the best player ever ist mortplayer

Likewise. The free players such as Mortplayer and GSplayer do just as good a job as the commercial ones. Instead of wasting it on eye candy, spend your $20 on another SD card (512MB is only $29) so you can carry more tunes or movies!
GsPlayer is one of the best music player for PPC and it's free...

I avoid installing POcket Music on the card since I use Pocket Music as an alarm clock. THe delay in detecting the SD card causes this type of malfunction. I like Pocket Music and aside from getting Winamp 2.x skins, it is really good.

Can someone please help me before I have a stroke please? lol

I'm still having issues with the music player. I am trying to persevere with the HTC music as I like the interface, and not found another music player yet that I do like the interface on.
Over the past couple of days I've been having issues as it's not been transfering my artwork across, and also tracks appear in random orders in many albums (but not all) on the phone. I have solved the cover art problem by adding the music files using the phone as a hard drive rather than through active sync, but the tracks still appear in a random order.
I have tried using monkey media, and media jukebox to arrange my files and add artwork. The tracks appear in the right order in every music program I use, whether it be monkey media, windows media, or simply opening them up from my music on my laptop. Also, if I open up the files on the phone from my laptop the tracks are in the correct order. Can anyone solve this issue for me please? It's been causing me a headache for the past 48 hours now and I think a blood vessel is about to burst Oh, I've tried adding files from my itnes folder as well, but I get the same problem. I'm not 100% sure, but I think the order of the tracks differs each time I try adding them to the phone
Someone told me to change the tags using mp3tag, but when I run this program it won't let me change the tags, and besides I wouldn't know what to change them to. In the column that says tags, they all just say WMA anyway.
Cheers

I think I saw this yesterday after I reinstalled everything following the new ROM upgrade, it was annoying me but this is what I done...
Slide to the music panel/tab and wait patiently while the screen in black and appear frozen for a while. I think it is actually 'loading' the list of all of the music tracks as 'now playing'.
If, when this has loaded, you tap the library button, then randomly slide to the artist tab to select a track, and play it, it clears the 'now playing' queue to the track you have just selected. You can then go back in and create play lists etc. as you would want to usually.

Hi, Thanks for your reply, but I'm not sure you fully understood what I meant?
If I wait for the media to load and tap the library button it doesn't matter if I go to artist>album or directly to album, the tracks displayed for the album or in the wrong order, and play in the wrong order eg on my Dido album "Here with me" is listed as the 11th track, when actually it should be the 1st. I don't want to, and shouldn't have to create a playlist for each album just so that the tracks play in the right order. Is there a way to get the HTC music player to organise the tracks so they are listed and play in the right order, ie track 1 first, track 2 second etc? It's so frustrating
Oh, sorry. I thought you were describing the thing I had...
Sorry, I don't know how to help you, hopefully someone else will be able to assist you.
Are you sure you don't have Shuffle switched on as that will randomise your songs. It's the icon with two arrows crossing one another to the right of the word Music on the Music tab in Sense.
2 things...
First, what format are your songs ripped in?
Second, you're probably better off letting the music player get the album art for you. Just click the CD icon in the top left of the screen and it will automatically do that for you. It's obviously better to let it handle as much as it can natively.
have you tried looking at the advanced tag editor in windows media player to see what order your tracks are actually in?.as for the album art,I use mp3 tag,its an easy program to use and works everytime. I know how feel as iv come across this myself and it did my head in lol. keep us informed.....

The trouble with letting the program find the artwork is that it can't find a lot of them

If I open windows media on my laptop and change the list options to details, across the top of the window I have the following columns:-

The problem is definitely the ID3 tags.
I can't help you any further than that I'm afraid, as I've been using MP3 format for years now, and every piece of music that I possess is in that format. It's still the most universal format, and therefore works flawlessly on most devices.
I do know that m4a stores the tag values differently to ID3, so they may not be read succesfully. I don't know how wma stores the values, if at all!
I'd recommend getting a piece of software like Sony Sound Forge so you can do a batch conversion and make everything MP3. After that, use something like WinAmp to automatically populate the ID3 tags for you. Once you've done that, the previous suggestion I made about album art will definitely work, so just don't bother doing anything manually for that.
That's all I can suggest. It's a lengthy process, but done right it will definitely solve your current problem.

totally agree bud. when i got into the digital music scene what seems like years ago now, all my collection was wma and i had nothing but hassle when transfering to other devices, the same as the op is having regarding mixed up tracks and missing art. after a lenghty process of converting everything to mp3 everything worked fine. i suggest its what the op does to solve the problem........if i were the op id convert the album thats giving him issues into mp3 format and transfer it onto his phone to see if it solves it. let us know op how you get on............
You may have already tried this.
But here goes if you go to your album on the pc then right click properties then goto details on each song that will tell you what number the track is & album artist etc that is the way the hd2 lists them from the properties not just the name of the song.
This is probably the first thing you tried but thought i would tell you anyway.

Funny I have always had this same problem. I didn't find the tag editor either BUT I just put the TAG column in my list and if I click by the song IN THAT COLUMN it opens up a text window for adding a tag. Nothing to say that the option is there just opened the text window. Might try that.

[Q] What is the best music player for android HD2?

Hi everyone, I would like to know what is the best music player for ANDROID HD2?
The one it comes with is garbage....Any links would be helpful!!! TY ALL
I would recommend Mixzing Media Player. I currently use it on my X10 and feel its the best for music. Lots of options and has a good eq. And I know you didn't ask but Rockplayer for video. Plays it all.
ty i will check it out
I love the default player that comes with all sense builds.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I have tried almost every good music player there is (Mixzing, bTunes, Player Pro, TuneWiki, and some others I don't remember), yet I've come back to using the stock player. Graphically it's not the most appealing there is, but heck, it does what it has to do without all the unneccessary hassle the others have.

I absolutely hated this whole suggestions thing. It worked so unintuitively yet took a prominent role, and the suggestions weren't very relevant either.
Mspot is great. i like the way you can also play your music from the cloud.
mini player is my fav based on the fact that it looks at a directory that you point it to, rather than seeking for all media on your sd card like the android player does. also has playlist now.
3 or sometimes called cube by phillip abrantes is a cool player it's in the market
i like tunewiki
Music PlayerPro is my pick. Closest to the stock app. Shows album art. Has 4 decent looking skins. Has its own lockscreen with a widget. And best of all you can select the music folder to play from.
Mixzing was ok. Just did a little more than I needed. I just want to listen to my music and not my ringtones if you know what I mean. Keep it simple.
Try Audio Player with EQ Platinum. It has a very good equalizer.

Shuffle on Music Player not so Random

Anyone else notice that the Music Player doesn't really shuffle all that well?
I've got a 32 gig card loaded in, all my music on the SD card. Have the player set to All Music with the shuffle setting on. I've got some artists that are heavily represented with hundreds of songs....but I've got others that have only one CD ripped in. When I'm at the gym, which is around 90 minutes, it's not uncommon to hear an artist with only one CD ripped come up three times or so. It's not a coincidence. It also seems to vary from session to session.
So....anyone else notice this?

Yes but none of the music players I've tried seem to shuffle very well. I've found double twist to be the best at it though with some good options.

I never use my music player but i do use google music cloud app which does a good job at random shuffle but Audio galaxy does it better as they have a thing called genie shuffling. U pick the first song and it will try to select all songs that come close to that first song in comparison in shuffling. Lets say u pick lady gaga it will play all the daNCE songs in shuffling like katy perry etc.
PowerAmp all the way baby

Anyone else notice that the Music Player doesn't really shuffle all that well?
I've got a 32 gig card loaded in, all my music on the SD card. Have the player set to All Music with the shuffle setting on. I've got some artists that are heavily represented with hundreds of songs....but I've got others that have only one CD ripped in. When I'm at the gym, which is around 90 minutes, it's not uncommon to hear an artist with only one CD ripped come up three times or so. It's not a coincidence. It also seems to vary from session to session.
So....anyone else notice this?

i notice it too... it seems to make a random list and just go on that and repeat itself sometimes..
I think my music player is officially retarded . I made sure that shuffle was on, no task killers were on, and it still played the same song. in succession. twice. is there a general consensus as to which is the best music app that isn't retarded.

Yeah have fun trying to customize that and iTunes don't even get me started. Don't get me wrong as purely a music player I wouldn't have anything else minus iTunes of course.

The same song coming up twice in a row isn't an indication that the "random" algorithm on the music player is crappy. It is almost certain to happen on occasion. Also, in a truly random system, each song is as likely as each other song to be played; a random string of songs has no memory. Like flipping a coin. So all your Michael Buble songs are as likely to come up as any other songs. Add in a little confirmation bias and there you have it!
Back to the question. I like Winamp. I'm an old fan from back in the day when it was the music player of choice for the desktop computer. I can't vouch for its shuffle capabilities though.
Shuffle sucks and don't forget to mention the search function. Horrible
