openvpn icon behind htc sense - HD2 General

Hi there,
I've got OpenVPN running on my HD2.(geman default rom from o2) It's working almost perfect... alomost.
When I start OpenVPN its actually launched but i have to access it through a small Icon in a Kind of Taskbar on the bottom of the Screen. If htc sense is enabled its covering this icon. so I have to deactivate htc sense, klick the Icon, connect, and then reenable htc sense. Does anybody know a way to get the Icon located somewhere where I can click it? Or any other way circumventing to de- and activate htc sense? Any regfix / something like this. If somebody could explain this problem and why its like this, i also would be happy about this.
best regards
win****
(yes I know the OpenVPN Version is not build for use with winmo 6.5-> if you have an other app that is capable to connect to OpenVPN send me a msg! I'll try it with joy)

Hi!
If anybody is interested in some kind of solution for this problem, I've wrote a small application for myself (and everybody who needs it).
Nothing special, only launches OpenVPN Manager if not running or bring it to the front if already started.
This way you don't need to see the taskbar icon and can use the manager.
Best regards,
/TT
PS.: No cab or other installer, just put it anywhere you want and create a link as you wish.

Thanks,
Helped a lot here.

HTC Touch Dual - Comm Manager

Here it is the new comm manager (only 6 buttons, but for me the needed) from touch dual. Included wi-fi fix (there was a problem enabling/disabling wi-fi) from the original JUVS version.

Has requested, some more info & screenshot of the new comm manager:
Here it is a full review of the new HTC Touch Dual.
http://smape.com/en/reviews/htc/HTC_Touch_Dual-rev.html
You can see in the multiple screenshots some of the new touch apps, like the new comm manager (i really like it!), new virtual keyboard, new start (with some big icons on top), a new quick access menu with up to 12 icons (new email, new sms, new contact, etc), new phonebook (with full separation of outlook, sim & windows live contacts), contacts list with a index column on the right (looks like pocketcm) and audio assistant (enhanced equalizer).
any screen grabs?

ehm... someone can respond? I don't understand the use of this cab... Can I enable wi-fi on htc touch-dual using this menu?
This works OK for me on HTC Touch too.....
Would the Comm Manager overwrite the default one such that when we uninstall it, we need to find another Comm Manager skin to install? Or can this be install/uninstall without any problem?
it installs without problem, overwrites the default

How about uninstall? Would the default one be brought back automatically?
This is in case I need to free up space for other more 'critical' applications to be stored on phone memory later on. Hence requiring me to remove the 'aesthetic' improvements
i installed it, it works,
2 questions,
why does it not way on or off on the right like in the picture?
and what does the bottom option do?
i tought beam is bluetooth????
and how do i enable and disable my push mail?
the option is gone?
It works on my Touch ITA, but there's a little bug:
If you disble the Data Connection you cannot reactivate it fromt the Communication panel
To re-enable it, I used Battery Status today plugin

Great work, thanks a lot!
Would it be possible to extract and post here the new virtual keyboard of Touch-Dual too? It is seemingly a very useful input method!
Thanks in advance,
IMO this Comm-Manager is a step backwards.
according to this article

this hack doesn't work to enable wi-fi on touch-dual
This .cab doesnt try to "enable" wifi on htc touch dual (from what i know HTC have disabled it internally or even removed it). When i tell that it contains wifi fix, its because the original JUVS cab contained a bug when activating wifi (in models that have wifi, for sure, like my prophet).

thanks for clarification I still wait/hope for it
Hmmmm. I get an error. I might be doing something wrong.

What's the point of this? Is it usefull for anything except the Touch Dual? And why does it have Wifi in it when the Dual doesn't?
It doesn't really seem like an improvement over the original Touch's Comm manager. Beam is not necessary and push and ringer seem to be gone. Step backwards. I do like the style though.
In my point of view is very useful and an improvement. Only has 6 options, but they are customizable like the previous comm managers, so you can remove wifi & beam and put the others you want. Also the order is customizable. In terms of size, this one is much smaller and uses less images to work. And, as you refer, in terms of style i think is better.

Try doing a softreset, and install this .cab right away, without running the current comm manager, since this cab will try to overwrite some of the current files. I think this may be the problem ... hope it helps.

Combined LG Prada/Voyager Today Plugin

I found a really software that I want to share with everyone. Thanks to sundar_amn for this great find.
If you guys have seen the LG Prada or the LG Voyager phone, you will noticed that this plugin looks really nice with nice user interface. It might need a lil TWEAk to activate a few programs when pressing the buttons.
So far buttons that does not respond:
In Phone Menu: NewMMS
In Media Menu: Java Manager
In Utility: Voice Recorder brings up Task, instead of Voice Recorder
In Settings Menu: Backlight, USB Stick, Bluetooth, and Power does not respond.
If anyone can tweak this, it would be a great plugin. I'm trying to see through registry and other ways but could not find it.
Also, Software that is packaged into the plugin are PocketCM, GSFinder+, and GSAlarmClock.
FYI: Don't know who the real Author of this app though, but thanks
I installed it great theme but i need to know if someone can make a configuration file for this. i want to mainly add new icons/programs n change program paths. thanks in advance
Thats really one of the best plugins for the today screen that i know.
As long as there is no tool to configure it, i cant use it anyway...
Could someone please build that?
I love the fact thats its fingerfriendly!
thanx
02 plus
I also found an awesome plugin on this site. its called 02 plus, I love it, you can add several pages of icons and all the pages are easily accessabe by named tabs. the ONLY problem i have with it is my dialer pops up randomly.Especially after downloading, installing or changing programs. its such a handy tool im willing to live with the glitch but if anyone knows how to fix this I would greatly appreciate it!!! if anyone is interested in it here is the .cab for it. thanks in advance for any help given.
Hey, I am new to this whole changing stuff on your phone and tweaking it and all that. Now i see you guys have posted files. Do I only need to put the file on my phone and it will work or how do I do it?

How to Disable HTC Task Manager on Fuze

Hey, I know everyone seems to like the HTC Task Manager 2.x alot, but I don't. I've gotten used to using a program called vBar and I like it a lot better because it allows you to click next to where the X or 'ok' would be and change programs. With HTC's version you seem to have to navigate back to the today screen to accomplish this.
So:
1) How do you disable HTC Task Manager 2.1 from starting up with the device (also it would be helpful if anyone knows of an easy way or program to look at all of the start up programs on the device)
2) OR if someone can help me see how to make HTC Task Manager act like vBar.
Thanks,
Joshua
P.S. Sorry if this is a re-post, I searched first.
P.S.S. I think Fuze topics go with Diamond, if not please feel free to move it for me.

How to disable HTC Sense on HD2?

Can anybody help me to do this to have regular wm interface on my HD2?
Thank you,
Igor
Start -> Settings -> Right Softkey -> More.. -> Today -> Items
Many thanks!
If the usual Settings aren't reachable, in the settings tab of Sense rechter Softkey und dann More.
I need to completely disable Sense without flashing new ROM (I plan to flash custom ROM in 2-3 months, but not now), especially the phone app. I'm using Inesoft Address Book and sometimes it doesn't start and I'm forced to use the default installed crap . It's lovely during the call when you are in hurry and an application you know nothing about is waiting for your commands.
I have the 1.66 WWE stock ROM.
Need to completely disable HD2 user interface
Similar problem. I have the stock HD2 and I would prefer having the WM 6.5 user interface.
Let me clarify, I want the whole HTC HD2 user interface reverted back to WM 6.5 and not only the Today's Screen.
Is that even possible without getting a new ROM.
I have very little experience and time and don't feel comfortable playing around with flashing the ROM and radio.
Thanks in advance.
in the same menu where you uncheck HTC Sense
scroll up and enable Windows Default and soft reset
it uses the default windows applications which i find to actually be quite usable and much faster
Is there a default WM6.5 messaging program? I disabled Sense, but it still uses the HTC Messages program for my texts.
ace07 - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=556614
As always, there is a catch.
Thanks. This is very helpful. Sense does not set messages as read and causes many extra clicks to get to the right place...
Switch to windows default, the lesser evil one between Sense and Windows.
Right Softkey ??? Where... i don't see it.. help please

a soft key refers to the bottom of the screen, there are typically 2-3 "buttons..."
let me explain differently, don't look for a physical button, just look in the bottom right corner of your screen, you'll see the word MORE (once in settings) click it, you've just hit a "soft key"
I have a kumar ROM, I can't find where to disable sense. I need to disable to install the new messaging client. Anyone know where I can find it? It's not in the all settings section.
This is single handedly the best thing I have done to my HD2. This phone has come alive! Thanks for the how-to!
HD2 unresponsive screen want sense removed but how?
Hello all!
Hopefully, I am asking this question at the right place...
I sort of stumbled upon an apparently new (i.e. in excellent condition, no scratches, etc, almost like new) HD2 which will boot but brings me to a non responding touch screen. The hard keys work, I can even receive a phone call BUT I cannot use the touch screen which is unresponsive. Someone at work that I asked told me he just does not have the time to spend trying to fix it for me (even for a fee) but supposedly it is the HTC Sense feature that messes things up. He adviced me to remove sense and try the old fashioned windows look.
I want to try to remove sense but how can I do that when the screen does not work? The phone is recognized and syncs fine when I connect it to my PC using Windows Mobile Device Center. Is there a utility that will allow me from inside my PC's windows to disable "sense" on the HD2?
By reading this thread, it appears that the HD2 works better without it anyway! (and quite frankly I have no idea what sense is or what it is for, some kind of UI maybe?)
Thank you.
if it's software related then do hard reset or flash another ROM

Stock WM 6.5 ROM

I've tried to scour this forum but cannot find any reference to what I need hence the request for assistance. I need just the stock Windows Mobile 6.5 as released by Microsoft. I do not care for any HTC enhancements (menus and whatnot), basically I need it as vanilla as can be. I would then like to apply the tweaks and all that jazz by using the available tools out there.
Ideas? Perhaps someone can point me in the right direction?
ps: The reason I'm asking for this is because I have tried (for the life of me) to disable the HTC style pop up notification bubble and cannot figure it out. I know the option to hide it exists however, when I click on the notification icons on the start menu (say I get a new email or whatever), It still displays it in the HTC-style option.
I found this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=631449 and I believe points to the first two steps are supposed to help me achieve what I want, however that doesn't seem to be the case.
To be honest, I would much prefer to keep the NRG Rom that I'm using if I could just get rid of the aforementioned pop-up notification box but that's not looking like an option.
HELP!!! - lol
There is no stock WM6.5 rom for the Touch HD, the roms available here are taken from other handsets and modified with the necessary drivers etc. to work on the Touch HD
To just disable the HTC notification manager, get FdcSoft TaskMgr, go to Services, set the HTC Notification service to manual, then soft reset.

I have the task manager, and when I go to the aforementioned service, it is configured as you suggested yet the ugly notification bubble persists.
ok, as there is no official stock wm6.5 rom and your query is about notifications, I've moved this thread to General discussion forum
