Don't do it unless you are prepared and capable of using Odin (which is very easy).
The question wasn't asnwered....does it void warranty...if I only apply the lag fix

Don't know, but if it's a concern for you don't do it. Because if something goes wrong you'll have to get your hands a little dirty
All the comments look good....plus its an app...so im not doing anything in recovery mode, or dragging files of such...
It's not hard to bring phone to stock, so nit really. Even if you're worried that the software installed will void it, you could simply learn how to use Odin and restore it full stock. Even with root you don't void it as you can always unroot it.

Yea I've been using it for a while with no problems whatsoever. I'm just trying to warn you that if, for whatever reason, something goes wrong, you may have go into manual recovery or download mode.
I can't seem to get the phone into the recovery mode....i hold down the up and down rocker, including power or without?

How can I get into odin3
Make sure you have the fascinate drivers.
Pull the battery.
Connect phone via USB to your computer.
Hold volume down button then press power.
That should boot it into download (Odin) mode

It works on my phone. But not on this phone. Is there any other way?
Thanks
Only other way, that I am aware of, is to boot holding the volume down button with the battery in then connect to USB after the downloader launches.
Did your friend possibly install CWM? If so try holding both volume buttons down and going through Clock Work Mod.
Sent from my SCH-I500-Fascinate using XDA App
Also if you can boot using the second method but don't have CWM installed you can possibly add another ROM named update.zip to the root of the sdcard and use the standard recovery launcher.
This information may be innacurate I come more from Palm Pre tweaking, but I believe that's what I read.

I have never seen a Galaxy S phone not be able to get to download mode.. but I think I've only seen one other person dumb enough to flash a Capitvate rom / kernel onto a Fascinate..
That being said, if removing the battery (don't put it back in), plugging in USB and holding volume-down doesn't bring up download mode, you're screwed. The phone obviously needs to be made inoperable before returning. An easy way to do that would be to disconnect the cable to the screen. Alternatively, and much more dangerously, you could microwave if for a few seconds at a time until it dies.

Are you serious?
Inoperable would be a last ditch effort in my opinion. Mistakes happen. These are the kind of mistakes that not only the OP and his friend learn from but also the community as a whole. If we can get him through this we also learn how to help others that make similar mistakes.
Modding / hacking whatever you wish to call it comes down to learning. We learn what works and what doesn't and we try to help others not make those mistakes. I prefer to try everything before nuking a phone that can be recovered.

To be honest, you cant fix it.
You can get it to boot once again if you can ever get it back into DL mode, but the phone wont work again. Not until we get a leak for a complete odin package, and that isnt gonna happen anytime soon.
I posted on my odin thread and pretty much any other thread i have done that you should not flash any other galaxy s device's firmware to the fascinate, they are not interchangeable like that. I hope he has insurance on his phone.

It might be easier to root the phone and try this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1084184
you might also want to try and download a Third Party camera from the market.
however if you just go the phone and the camera is AWOL i'd return it.

Well if flashing the PD15IMG didn't work. 3rd party cameras aren't working sounds like the phone is physically defective. As far as just download and running VISIONary.apk it does root the phone but it doesn't keep s-off. And that is needed with most root options. Even it did work once you reboot the phone you would of lost everything.

i understand that there is an option to "root on boot" but once you turn off the device all of the /system files will return back to 100% stock. So once you turn off the phone it returns back to a 100% factory. there are no one click rooting options for this phone as of right now.
I noticed because when I bought it it was heavily modified & rooted running Gingerblur, already had clockwork installed so I went to flash a clean sbf with rsd and could not get it to enter rsd mode. Finally I realized it was because the volume button dosen't work. I have a feeling its not hardware related and more likely someone that didnt know what they were doing fooling with things.
Does anyone know a way I can fully restore it without using the volume rocker? When I called back the guy that sold it to me he claimed I have to install rom manager and load a image and that will fix it but he probably dosent know what hes talking about.
Does it have tenfars CWM installed already? If not, can you install it? With it , you can reboot directly into cwm recovery and do a factory reset / data wipe or flash something else through update.zip

Yah I tried that a couple times. Rocker still dosent work. Took it to my local cell phone repair shop and they said its hardware related. Dosent make sense though since water damage indicator is white and phone appears to be in brand new physical condition like its never been dropeed or damaged. But it has been hacked as i see system recovery and its rooted with gingerblur.

+1 probably hardware related...
but if you want to try one more thing, might go the official motorola update software route here...

Ok I have root explorer. What exactly should I do?
If you still have the phone I remembered that you can enter rsd mode by enabling usb debugging then clicking start on rsdlite. It'll reboot into rsd protocol mode.
if it is the rocker that's gone, its only a module and theres only 6 screws to totally disassemble the phone. no void stickers either. my phone's rocker button was broke to when i bought mine used. i just disassembled and reassembled and it was magically fixed! theres nothing scary about taking it apart either

I recently rooted my S3 i747 and then installed cyanogenmod 10. Keep in mind I am not a wiz at doing these things, however it did work. Here in lies my problems. 1. I hate this OS with a passion. Its just not what i thought it would be so I would love nothing more than to figure out how to remove it and return to stock firmware or another custom rom. 2. If i stay with this rom (for not being able to figure out how to remove it and install another) I am running out of storage internally. Its a great possibility I could have done something wrong. so with that being said, can anyone help me? I have tried more websites than I care to. thanks so much!

edit... Pull the battery on your phone and put it back in. Hold up vol, home button and Power till you see the little words in the top left corner. It should say booting recovery really small. at that point take your finger off of the power button only and it will boot into Recovery.
If you have CWM recovery or TWRP you are golden...
Or else... see below
Find your phone in it's section you should be able to find a method using Odin to flash it back to stock and then you can read up and find the way to do everything you want.
Just do your research and look through the forum for your phone type/carrier and you should be able to find all of the information that you are looking for.
Search and you shall succeed!

why do you guys make things so complicated? the guy wants his phone back to stock.
The only thing you have to do is to go to www.sammobile.com/firmwares. Then put your phone number i9100 in the search box and choose any of the roms below. They are all stock, 2.3/4.x.x etc. The rom is in a zip file, however, you have to extract the tar file inside it.
Power off your phone then, while holding vol down, press and hold power.
Open odin in your pc then connect the phone to pc while being in download mode. press the pda button in odin and insert the .tar rom whoch you have just extracted. press start and you are done.

the power button still works for everything else and i have a software button to bring it to the lock screen which i made using the "greenify app".
whats causing this and is there any fix? or any ways to put the device into safe mode ans see if this is caused by some faulty tweak? bug?
Summary:
"Power button works for everything except putting the phone to lockscreen/screen blackout"
Basic solution is to go to security and check "power button instantly locks" something like that.

Factory reset will delete all data photos, music, vids, contact and messages etc. If you've backed up everything then you are good to go for factory reset and will welcome you back to fresh out of the box phone. And no soft brick can occur by doing this.
