So I was doing a proximity sensor experiment cause mine wont work and I was playing around with Phonebook and Phone APKs. My Java is not working so I couldnt usb adb but I wanted to replace my Phonebook and Phone APKs. So I used root explorer and manually copied those two apks from my sdcard and replaced the two I had in the system/app folder. Now my dialer doesn`t work anymore. It seems like it is uninstalled (not in drawer, shortcut I had to dialer says the app is not installed). I can`t even install it back now. It says Phonebook.apk cannot be installed or something like that.
... This is sad cause I cant even recieve calls now. Using my old phone now
The only way is to use adb... or reflash ur phone...
if u unnistall the phonebook.apk, u won't be able to edit/add/delete contacts... even with third part apps... u will be able to see them though...
And if u unninstall phone.apk u won't be able to make/receive any calls at all...
I know that bcoz i deleted them myself lol...

Hi!
I just got my first Android mobile... yepiiiiii
Only one thing is bugging me:
I know how to uninstall programs that I downloaded or installed from the SD, but how do I unistall games that came with the phone? Those 3 games are: Peggle, CA Gold Rush & Roller Coaster.
I'm new to Andoid, so take it easy
Please help, I'll be very thankful...
If its the same as your big brother x10 just go into settings, applications and select whatever program you wanna take away.
if it that don't work you need root access to take it away, we had that prob with moxier!

I don't know if it's like the bigger x10. But I tried with the program from the setting... It does'nt have any uninstall button.
And yes, I have access to the root with a program that I downloaded from the Android market called Astro file manager.
Help Please!
According to your message, you have removed creatouch from your phone. Can you please tell me the actual app name of creatouch for removing it by root.
Ex. roadsync.apk
I have tried Creatouch.apk and many other ways but could not remove it.
By any chance, do you know the name for CA Gold Rush?
Root access in this case = Superuser access.
The easiest way to do it is to check out this thread, download, install, run the apk on your mini, and it should take care of everything.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=747587
Then the easiest way to remove the apps would be to get something like Titanium Backup, and uninstalling the apps through there...
Yup you need to root to get rid of the very annoying bloatware put on by SE and your carrier. Bugged me when during the last update Tmobile put on another useless app. When will they realise that the beauty of android is that we should get to choose what we have on our phones not them. No-one uses their crappy programmes anyway!!

Hi.
I got shut of it yesterday using Root Explorer and Titanium Back-Up. I used TB to uninstall it, I then went to /data/app and removed the apk, then from /data/app-private, and lastly from /system/app, and now have no trace of it.
plz help
I have an rooted x10a(r23) and Iv been installing apk files by transferring them to my sd card.
Iv been using Astor to install them. Also i have non market apps checked in my settings.
Today i tried to install an apk file using Astro, but it wouldn't let me. it just goes back to an blank screen and then back to the install screen.
Does any one know how to fix this?
Happened to me after I rooted my phone. But not immediately after rooting.I removed all the unnecessary apps and stopped all the third party services using startup cleaner, dunno if that did it, but I am able to install apks again.

also the same problem x10i R23, rooted one week ago. Till yesterday it was no problem to install apk files. Since today it is not possible!
interesting. this same thing happened to me before i rooted. after i rooted i was able to install any app.
Try checking the install from unknown sources option in the settings.

This point is selected but since today it is not more possible to install apk files.
Installation only direct from the market is possible.
Maybe a bug in the root???
I replaced the rooted R23 through R2BA0024 (not rooted) and have now no problem to install apk files.

Look up apps2sd its custom for 2.2 froyo but there is a work around for earlier versions, research lots before you do anything coz you can mess your phone settings if you don't know what your doing.
ok like an idiot I have removed Facebook for HTC from my phone and of course lost all of the sync functions
Is there any way to get this back without having to reinstall a fresh mdeejay?
What about reinstall it from the android market?
Nah due it the fact its part of the OS you cant download it
Managed to get the HtcFacebook.apk file but no idea how to get it into /system/app
Have you tried using Root Explorer to push it to /system/app then reboot?
Tried to use root explorer, but after reboot the file appeared again in system apps..
Tried to use terminal emulator that comes with CM 6.1, but got error message "cannot remove , because the folder is not empty" - something like that...
The apps I want to remove are: Maps, Navigation,E-mail,Voice Search,Talk and some others....
By the way, what I shouldn't delete? I mean the apps that can make problems with the system....
Appreciate any suggestions.
Most of those are Google apps so I wouldn't remove them in case you start getting non stop force close errors. If you wanted to remove the files, you would need to have AUFS. Search for it.

If U can't remove the apps from /system/app then you probably do not have S-OFF - what does recovery screen say? ..
I have the same issue here on my Legend since it is running hboot 1.01.. darn!
But anyway, you can use android kitchen to mod a ROM .. works nice Link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=633246
Why don't you use an easier method of getting rid of unwanted applications? You can use Titanium Backup, it has a nice exploit discovered by Paul O'Brien from Modaco (more details about it HERE, but if you have CM 6.1 already you are rooted and need only Titanium Back that is already included in CM 6.1 ROM as far as I remember). You just have to go to the apps list, long press on it and from the popup select last option to remove the application.
For BT transfers, look in the Market after an application called Bluetooth File Transfer.
