[Q] MT3G 1.2 - Ultimate Fail - myTouch 3G, Magic General

Hi all,
So last week I had a perfectly rooted phone (thanks to Universal Androot), and I was managing my ROM's with ROMManager. I had Cyanogenmod running fine (update 5.08 i think). I swapped memory cards because the one i was using had a lot of other files on it, and i wanted to move my apps to SD. Turns out that I accidently booted into Hboot, and that SD card had the SAPPIMG.zip that prevented touch screen interaction (from [theunlockr.com/2010/03/11/how-to-root-the-mytouch-1-2-and-fender-mytouch/] I had tried to make a goldcard previously without success using this guide)). I accidently flashed a perfected SPL (meaning i get remote:not allow when using fastboot flash). Because the touchscreen doesnt work, i cant even make a goldcard. I have followed other guides on how to make it with a windows phone, but the phone that i used (Vogue) was not recognized by both HTC Sync and PSAS/QMAT. So i turned to my own computer and looked through the registry...and found some random 32 digit key for my memory card when it was plugged in to my memory card reader. Apparently, I did something right with PSAS and it generated a goldcard image. It was saved as a file, so i renamed it to goldcard.img and put it on the now formatted SD. I got an engineering SPL (from [forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4332591&postcount=1]) and it seemed to load up fine in Hboot. However, at the end, i got the "Model ID incorrect" message. This is where my phone stands:
Sapphire Unknown 32B Ship S-On-G
Hboot-1.33.0006 (SAPP31000)
CPLD-13
Radio-2.2219.261

Any help on how to flash my phone onto a working (touch reponding) ROM would be greatly appreciated(either stock or custom, IDC)!
TY

Model incorrect error means that your goldcard isn't working. You got a friend with an Android phone that you could borrow to remake the goldcard? That would probably be your best bet.
Sent from my HTC Magic using XDA App

Thanks for the response!
Lol yeah. I realized that after I left (I dont have internet at home so I have to do all this stuff at the library). I don't think that any of my friends (the ones I've seen over the summer, anyway) have an android phone. I guess Ill just have to leave my phone as it is cuz I still have a working blackberry.
To add another twist into this fail, my dad works for T-Mobile. I made the mistake of telling him that I was hacking it, and now he refuses to let me repair it, saying they can track his employee number and find out that he bought it to begin with. T.T

Look around here or search for the Gold Card exe that works so much better at making a gold card.
I tried so many different MiniSD cards in my phone (3-4 2 gigs, 1 8 gig, 1 16 gig) NONE worked with the regular gold card creation method. I used the EXE one time on a card that didn't work before and it made the card no problem.

Thanks for the reply!
If you're talking about the GoldCardTool by Klutsh, I've tried that. The problem is that I cant enable USB Debugging because my touchscreen doesnt work and it wants me to touch the android to setup the phone. Therefore none of the adb commands will work.
Thanks for the suggestion though.

That sucks, so I also assume the trackball doesn't work for moving around?

lol
Umm, when I hold down the power button, the shutdown menu comes up, except that it only has powerdown as an option. I CAN use the trackball to click on it. However, if I use the trackball to select emergency dialer, it force closes.
If that helps at all...

More Fails Abound
Lol. I figured out why I could not make a gold card, and now I have one (I think). The reason I am not sure is because I still get Model ID incorrect. I think that the goldcard is made properly, because i can open up the memory card and see the EncFiltLog.menc. I have tried multiple methods (PSAS with a windows phone to make an image file; PSAS to get the SD card CID and then using the reverser and the revskills and hexedit to make the goldcard). I have tried this on two different memory cards (both have the EncFiltLog.menc) and both are recognized by the computer (which according to TheUnlockr, means they are working). Any solution as to why the goldcard isnt working?
Thanks

Final request
Could someone please just ship me a goldcard that they know works?
Thanks
PM if you can

Siemens SX-56 Dead Dead Dead!

ok...I'm really new to all this so please show a little patience towards me!
I was trying to load the XDA-developers-SER-v12 on my phone and just when it started with the progress bar moving at the top of the PPC screen, when it said "Do not Remove Device..." I accidently lifted the phone out of the cradle as dumb as I am...! After that I tried to hard start it by shoving a pin on the hole in the right side under the battery icon with the cross (hard-reset) and got the Bootloader 5.17 screen with the three colors and GSM (OK) there when I pressed the soft-reset and power buttons simultaneously.
But since I was the idiot and could not understand what was going on, as I was not in this forum nor even behind a computer, I reset it again and again a couple of more times. Now present situation; I have the same "Do not Remove..." screen everytime I do a hard or soft reset even if I keep the power on/off button pressed alongwith pressing the hot or cold boot buttons on the left and right corners respectively. In fact the screen has gotten badly distorted but the same "Do not Remove..." comes up in the totally distorted state on the screen and the Bootloader or the colors, nothing comes up anymore.
When I try to put the phone on the charger, the light goes orange just as if it is charging, in fact, after an hour or so, just as it normally would in the correct phone state, it turns green.
Is my phone toast or can I still do something about it?
Munz.
I'm no expert, but it seems to me that if there is a complication with the software when loading, one should try using the sd method of rom flashign. Cook or dl a rom, use XDA tools to load it to an SD, put the SD into the device, and then use the bootloader to load off of SD. Other than that, I know little to nothing.
Good luck!
Search in the forum after SD Card flashing for the Wallaby.
This would fix your device...

Re: Dead SX-56
You guys are good and quick....but!!! As I mentioned, I can't even see the Bootloader even after a reset and power button combo...nothing comes up or happens...the screen just blinks and then goes blank...should I open it up and disconnect the battery or something...? Right now I am just seeing the screen saying "Do not Remove...." and that even in a totally distorted form....
Try pushing a pin in the hard reset, push once only, leave it overnight, I think that is good as removing battery as it disconnects the connection between battery and mainboard as fas as I know. Next morning push once with oin again, you never know your luck. Its weird that the bootloader should be affected however the good thing is that your gsm seems ok and the xda is charging.
XDA Dead!
Thanks for the reply...I have just pushed the pin and am leaving the XDA in that state for the whole day...hope it revives back...its presently just giving me a garbled screen and nothing else...even when I press the power and hard reset together, it comes back to the garbled screen and nothing else...I'll take your advice and not touch it after the above for the day and let you know what happens, if there is any other advice I would highly appreciate it...
Bootloader Malfunction
You mentioned that your bootloader seems to be screwed up. Download the full version of XDA tools WITH the bootloader and Programme A. Grab yourself a new ROM of your choosing, lumpistefan's kitchen, etc. Then use the XDA tools to write the bootloader and the rom to your SD card. After that hard booting the device with the SD card installed should ask you if you want to flash the device.
I noticed that if you have XDA tools without the bootloader file it will write the rom to your SD and you will NOT be able to get to the flash your device screen.
This is the only way to do it since your device will not boot to a rom. Upgrades from manufactures and roms prepared with Programme A all require MS Active Synch AND a good working connection.
If you have a SD card prepared with the ROM and the bootloader the right way, it should almost be foolproof from what I understand.
Hope this helps, I was in much the same situation
XDA Dead!
Yups! I tried to boot it from an SD Card, its not exactly an SD Card but an MMC Card (128MB). It still comes up to the same garbled screen which is more garbled than ever before! Does not ask me for anything; or even confirms anything...It does not do anything else besides the screen even after a soft reset/hard reset or a combo hard/soft power button reset.
I'm really totally stuck...Any ideas will be much appreciated!
Thanks.
Your XDA is completely dead; you screwed OS ROM and bootloader.
Forget SD or Details method, it won't work for you!
Re: Dead SX-56
Can you help me fix it please? What do I need to do?
Bootloader
The more experienced members of this forum can correct me on this, but I have been under the impression that the SD method of flashing does not require an intact OS ROM or bootloader on the device.
If you created the SD correctly, it should contain its own bootloader. Just putting it in the unit and then reseting it should come up with the screen to flash the device.
Did you create the SD card with XDAtools? Did you also have the bootloader file in the /bin directory when you did it?
If a properly created SD "flash" card cannot fix your problem, then you really might have no choice to but to get it professionally repaired where the remove the chips themselves and replace them.
I think you may even be in luck. www.pocketpctechs.com probably can do this and they are located in Fountain Valley, CA about 4 hours away from you. They can also put in bigger memory and batteries at the same time at a discount if you are getting it repaired
Re:
Thank you so much for the reply...I will try it once more; although, yes I have tried the same thing before and made the MMC Card through the XDATools, but never hurts to try again...I'll double check on the bootloader again too this time...
If you can, please send me the contact information for the people who fix the XDA's professionally as you mentioned in the USA somewhere near me preferably, I am in San Jose, CA...I'll try to contact them also...
Best Regards.

You can find all the contact information right there. As far as I know fountain valley is about 4-5 hours away from San Jose.
Similar problem:
I have a XDA I here, which has a similar problem:
It boots with the welcome to T-Mobile screen, and
it shows at the bottom of the screen 4.01.16 after a while R4.06 and after a while G32S54. The machine locks-up and does not respond to anything except the touch screen. If i tap the screen, the backlight turns on, and a
rotating 'wait' icon appears. That's it. I am not able to put it in Bootloader mode by pressing power - > reset, so i cannot reflash the unit using SD.
I guess the former user has tried to reflash the unit, and had put the OS overwriting the bootloader, OTOH, the unit seems to run *some* code, since it responds to taps on the screen, by turning on the backlight.
Any guru have any clue on this one? I could not find anything in the forums, while the forums are VERY helpful in the past.

I really do not understand that. I am not a Guru by any means, and I hope one does make a comment on this.
As far as a I can tell by my own experiences, you do not need to put it in Bootloader mode by presseing power-reset. That is totally unneccessary to flash the unit. In fact, in Bootloader mode I have never found any command or method to flash the unit from the sd card. Only methods to backup the rom to the sd card. So I am really really confused to hear you guys say that.
I have successfully flashed XDA's with 2 methods. Programme A by which the XDA is connected to Active Synch 3.7 and by an SD card created by XDAtools.
Programme A only seems to work when there are NO problems at all and you just want to upgrade or try something else.
The SD card method seems to be the choice for repair.
Creating the SD card with XDAtools *WITH* the bootloader file in the /bin directory does work. The SD card I created with this method DID not, i repeat, DID not need the Bootloader (power-reset). It only needed to be powered on with the SD Card in the XDA.
If there are any Gurus moderating this post, I would sincerely appreciate having this cleared up

I also have a good working unit, and testing my SD card, created with XDARIT in this unit tells me i need to press power -> reset to be able to
flash the unit. if i do'nt hold the power button, the unit boots normally.

It is only there when you have the SD card in the device, otherwise you cannot find it by moving around through the different menus.
XDAArit is completely outdated. You need to get their new tool.
XDATools can be downloaded from the website here. The best thread that talks about the tool is:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=2189&highlight=xdatools
The exact link to get the tool and all the supporting files, including the bootloader is:
http://cuba.calyx.nl/~jsummers/XDA/XDAtools-Jeff.exe
When you install this version of XDAtools you will find a directory called binaries. Under it there should be a file called "bootloader_v5_15.nb0"
Use the tool to create your SD card with a .nb1 file of your choice. After that it should only be a matter of powering on the device with the SD card inside the unit.
I have 2 XDAs. 1 good en 1 have problem with bootloader and rom.
I can't access Wallaby bootloader en the OS don't start.
I backup it from good XDA in the bootloader (ce+Boot) and i pushed my SD in the XDA where problems are..
He don't work. How can I fix my problem..
Please Help...
I am not aware of what the (ce+boot) actually creates on the SD card. If that is the exact ROM that you want, I would suggest downloading the full version of XDA tools, and I think you can use it to copy the ROM from the SD card to a .nb1 file on your computer. Then follow the instructions I have already posted to make the working SD card that will flash the XDA.
When it comes to the SD card, the only time I have ever been successfull is when creating it with XDAtools with a .nb1 file and the bootloader .nb0 file inside the binaries directory.
That's it. I have never been able to do it any other way. Programme A does not count since it requires an active and working OS and connection to the PC and most people that are in trouble don't have that.

[GUIDE 16/11/09] Get started rooting Telus HERO130! (No need for QMAT!)

Yay, I've finally found a reliable way to do this. After completing these steps, you'll be able to install any GSM Hero ROM. Still, neither I, nor anyone else, can be blamed if something goes wrong and you end up with a shiny paperweight.
-2. Changelog
16/11/09
Updated to Amon_RA's latest recovery image
15/11/09
First release of the guide!
-1. Thanks!
This guide would not have been possible without:
TheUnlockr (great guides)
Amon_RA (recovery image)
xda-developers (need I say more?)
MoDaCo (Excellent ROM)
QMAT (GoldCard)
craig0r (first to root the Telus Hero)
pi3ch (copy from cmd)
And everyone involved in rooting the Dream, the Sapphire, the Hero, and Android in general. Many thanks to everyone involved!
0. Before we start!
If you haven't installed all the drivers for your phone already, follow the instructions on this page to do so. It also shows you the basics of ADB.
Also, a forewarning: there are reports that not all microSD cards work. If yours doesn't work, try another one. Hopefully you'll still have some dough in your wallet by the time you find one that works. Just kidding.
Also, not all microSD readers work either. I have one that just refused to write the GoldCard image to the card, but thankfully, my laptop's SD slot worked.
And, these steps have only been tested on Windows XP 32bit. If you use anything newer, it may or may not work, but most importantly, if you want any chance of it working, you'll want to run most of these apps and commands in Administrator mode.
Finally, make sure you have a Wi-Fi connection, as your data connection will be lost at some point while you need to download something from the Market.
1. Downloads!
You'll want to get all your downloads before starting this.
HxD
RUU_Hero_HTC_WWE_2.73.405.5_WWE_release_signed_NoDriver.exe
flashrec
Amon_RA's recovery image
Updated radio
2. Prepare your phone!
On your phone, go to:
Settings > Applications > Development
There, check USB debugging.
3. Backup your APN settings!
Go to the Market and install APN Backup and Restore. Run it, and backup your APN settings with it. This is necessary to restore data access after rooting.
4. Get your GoldCard image!
The GoldCard bypasses some weird check on the phone and allows you to flash ROMs that are otherwise rejected, due to them being older versions, or some other reason that HTC decided it'd be so.
With the USB cable plugged in, open the notifications shade and tap HTC Sync. It doesn't matter if it can't sync, but what matters is you can enter the adb shell. If you don't know how, you haven't done step 0.
Now, go in adb shell and run this command:
Code:
cat /sys/class/mmc_host/mmc1/mmc1:*/cid
The output is your microSD card's serial number. Right click anywhere in the command prompt, and click on Mark. Then, select the serial number, and right click. The serial is now copied into the clipboard, so open up Notepad and paste it there.
Now, with that serial number written down, paste it into my lame GoldCard hex reverse. Please credit me if you use that page in your guide!
Next, do as my page says, grab the reversed serial number and get your GoldCard image with it.
5. Create your GoldCard!
So now you have your GoldCard image. Remember, this GoldCard image is valid only for the card from which you got the serial number. If you use another card, get another image.
Turn off your phone, take the microSD out and plug it into the your preferred reader. Again, not all readers work. Not all microSDs work.
Now, unplug from your computer any removable storage except for the microSD. This is to avoid confusion in the next step.
Before making the GoldCard, backup anything you need from the microSD, as it may get erased in the process. Most importantly, backup the APN settings that we got earlier, from APN Backup and Restore.
Now open up HxD. From here, you'll open two things. Your microSD in the raw, and the GoldCard image in the raw.
To open your microSD go to:
Extras > Open disk
In the pop up, under Physical disks, select the (supposedly only) Removable Storage. If there are two, I don't know which one is the right one, so unplug more stuff from your computer.
Before you click OK, be sure to uncheck Open as Readonly. We can't make a GoldCard if we can't write on it, right?
To open your GoldCard image, go to:
Extras > Open disk image
There, select your downloaded goldcard.img file, and click Open, and then OK.
Now you should have two tabs open in HxD, one being the microSD, and the other, active one being the GoldCard image.
Press Ctrl+A on your keyboard to select all, then Ctrl+C on your keyboard to copy. Switch to the microSD's tab, make sure the cursor is at the complete top-left corner, and then press Ctrl+B to paste, and then Ctrl+S to save. Accept the risk and your GoldCard should be made.
To verify, close the microSD's tab, eject it, unplug and replug it, and reopen it in HxD like we did earlier. It should still have the GoldCard image written at the beginning of it. If not, either the microSD or the reader or both don't like making GoldCards, so you'll want to try a different combination of card and reader.
6. Downgrade!
Let's flash the downgraded ROM now. Plug your microSD, now a GoldCard, into the phone and turn it on. After it finishes booting, turn on HTC Sync. Again, it doesn't need to actually synchronize.
Now, run the RUU you downloaded earlier and follow the steps. If the GoldCard works, it should flash and you'll end up with a downgraded phone. If not, then you either didn't write down the microSD's serial number correctly, or the microSD doesn't like to do its job.
Set up the downgraded phone with the default settings, and turn on Wi-Fi. Get on your Wi-Fi network and install Linda File Manager.
Now, on the phone, check:
Settings > Applications > Unknown sources
Now turn on USB Storage, and copy flashrec and Amon_RA's recovery image to the microSD. Rename the recovery image to recovery.img to save a headache later. You may as well put the backed up APN files back on the microSD too, if they got erased.
Disconnect USB storage, load up Linda, go in the SD card, and install flashrec using Package Installer. Now, load up Recovery Flasher, press on backup, then type in:
Code:
/sdcard/recovery.img
Now press Flash recovery.
7. Update the radio
The radio that came with the downgrade is quirky in North American networks. We'll update to the latest IU radio, which works with our networks here.
First, reboot into the new patched recovery. Turn off the phone, and then turn it back on while holding the Home button. Keep holding it until you see the recovery menu.
Once you're there, scroll down using the trackball to turn on USB Mass storage. Plug the phone in the computer if it wasn't plugged already. The microSD will show up on the computer. Copy the updated radio zip to the root of the microSD wait a few seconds, then turn off USB Mass storage on the phone.
Now, select Flash update image, and then Apply sdcard:choose zip. There, the radio zip should show up. Select it and flash it.
8. You're pretty much done at this point.
Follow any guide to install a Hero ROM, to partition your microSD, etc. After you install a custom ROM, be sure to reinstall APN Backup and Restore from the market, and restore your APN settings. This will restore data.
well the "asroot" method of rooting from the guide in the CDMA forum may be worth trying...perhaps they haven't fixed the vulenrability?

Ya tried that method don't work
yeah I would love to root this thing.
To be honest this is my first smartphone and I'm new at this rooting thing. I did manage to throw on a hack for my ipod nano (colored version)
I'm loving this phone so far - got it first day they announced their new network. I'm so impressed
Did either of you buy another SD card? Where did you grab yours if you did?
My Telus Hero has been rooted since Friday.
Check it:

Yeah I just saw. I'll get familiar with the process then update the first post.
Thanks a bunch!
I posted in the other thread (so... sorry for the double post), but I think that this thread is more relevant to the question/issue of rooting.
Could someone who still has the stock Telus ROM post the Baseband version? (Home -> Settings -> About phone -> Baseband version)
I'm just curious as to whether we Telus users should upgrade or downgrade the radio version after rooting the phone, as I seem to be having dialing issues (long distance numbers require a "+" in front of the "1" or it won't connect.)
I dunno if this issue would be related to the radio, or to the fact that there are no North American locales selectable within the custom ROM.

Same here. My stock Telus Hero reports the same version as above (just to add to the data pool). I'll be watching this thread for more details on rooting.
I rooted using the goldcard>2.73.405>recovery>modaco2.9>IU baseband and it works no problem. I can dial 611, long distance numbers dont need a + or a 1 for that matter, and market enabler lets me buy paid apps. Device seems quicker. I had to try 3 different sd cards though. I know I was doing the first one wrong, but one of them definately did not work.
I mentioned in the other Telus Hero thread that I updated my radio to the IU version, and my dialing issues have gone away. Thought I should mention it here as well.
I'm still waiting for a method that doesn't require calling Telus to fix settings though.
Say, is your Hero the black or white one? And, is it a HERO130 or a HERO100?
I keep getting an invalid model ID error when I try flashing the downgrade. Is that what you had the times it didn't work for you?

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that's the error I got when I didn't have a proper Gold Card. If you've tried the same SD card a number of times and it's still not working, maybe grab a cheap Sandisk 1GB card. That's what I used.
And you shouldn't have to call Telus, because I've already gone through the pain of figuring all this stuff out. Just make sure you grab the APN settings from the other thread, and update to the latest radio (IU) and you're good. A call to Telus was required because I couldn't receive MMS messages, but that had nothing to do with rooting the phone, I would've had to call them anyway.
When I look up "Model Number" in my phone's settings, it just says HTC Hero. So I dunno. The custom ROM probably did that. I guess.
the model name might be written in the battery compartment area. i know on my htc tytn the name is there as "HERM200"
pretty sure it was mentioned that the telus hero is HERO130
As profets said, the model ID is under the battery. Mine says HERO130, and in bootloader mode, it says HERO13000. Since the downgrade ROM is for HERO10000, it threw an invalid model ID error.

Ah cool. I just checked under the battery, it's a 130. So you should still be able to downgrade.
Really strange. I tried a Kingston 2GB like they said on the guide and verified that the GoldCard image was well written on the card. Yet it still throws error 130.

i have been trying for several months now with nearly a hundred micro-sd cards on a dozen computers and i cannot seem to do it. i cannot take it anymore. i am offering either a trade(one of my sdcards for one that has already been used as a goldcard and is currently a goldcard) if you have created a goldcard and are willing to ship it to me in exchange for an 8GBclass 2(samsung or sandisk) or a 4GB class 4(PNY) or a 2GB kingston then please let me know.
or i can paypal you some money and you can ship me a pre-made goldcard.
i have a mT3G with a perfected SPL on a 32b board(thought i was lucky when i saw 32b pop up)
It might help if you explain where you are having problems?
i got the CID fine, i got the goldcard.img fine, the problem is when i use hxd to edit the card. it allows me to paste write the hex to the first 17 blocks but when i remove card from computer and put it back in then it has to be formatted. i know it has to be FAT32 so i'm not sure what i am doing wrong.
ps i am running hxd as administrator, currently on a vista x32 machine
And are you selecting the physical or logical tab? You should be copying the img data to the physical tab of your removable media.
Try the Goldcard tool:
(replace hxxp with http to get the working link)
hxxp://android.modaco.com/content/software/308798/pc-application-goldcardtool/
Thanks! I been tring for a week to make one and that worked! Cheers
Glad I could help.

Also, make sure you format the card in the phone. I purchased a 2gb Kingston from comp usa and that is the only one I ever had to use. Other sd cards are hit and miss.
i have formatted from the phone, as well as from the computer. i will have to try out this other goldcard app, if it works then awesome and i can save some money(even though i have a bunch of extra sd cards now)
so i got home and tried the app on my vista 32-bit machine, with the app i can mount the sdcard after it claims to have made a goldcard, but when i try to flash the file from the amon_ra thread(fix perfected SPL) it can't seem to find the SAPPIMG.zip file in the bootloader. not sure at this point what i am doing wrong, i have the 1.33.0007 SPL which i have seen is more difficult but people have gotten it to work
You have to rename the sappimg.zip to sappimg.apk
It's no longer necessary to use the goldcard method to root an original (32b) mytouch
I would post a link to new instructions but I'm apparently not worthy of posting external links yet, so search google for "How To: Root the HTC MyTouch 3G | TheUnlockr" (in quotes) it should come up with an article from 04-26-2010
basically what you do is downgrade to stock android 1.5, then use flashrec to exploit a bug in 1.5 that lets you install a custom recovery (like amon-ra's recovery) and then installed a rooted rom from there
Just so you know, this doesn't replace the perfected SPL, so you will have to do that eventually if you want to be able to flash and boot images using the fastboot SDK tool (not necessary for rooting the phone, but nice to have)

It is very important to format the sd card as fat32 (and not the default fat), otherwise the bootloader will not be able to pick up any files (goldcard or not).

that seems wrong, i need to change the SPL and an apk is not going to do that for me(without root)

you can't downgrade until you get a non-perfected SPL on your phone(1.33.0007 is a troublesome one)

i know i am formatting as FAT32 this is standard with all phones we hack around here. tried using the phone and the computer to format as FAT32 and still no go

there must be some t-mobile mytouches that shipped with non-perfected SPLs then, because that guide worked for me. what is the point of a rooting guide that required the phone to already be rooted?
have you actually tried downgrading to 1.5, or are you just assuming it won't work?
I don't assume anything on the phones, I have deffinately tried several times. Yes some shipped with non-perfected SPLs and some shipped with perfected SPLs, luck of the draw

Sorry your right, I just checked the goldcard i made and i did leave it sappIMG.zip. I changed so many things to try and get it to work!
But I had no probs with that goldcard maker program.

I ran into this problem before too. I could not create a goldcard with vista 32bit at all. I tried like 6 different cards all different sizes and it wouldn't work. I used Run as administrator mode, compatibility mode, etc. It would not work.
Yet I tried it on a Windows XP sp2 machine with a 2gb Toshiba card and it work perfectly the first time. Can't explain it.
What exactly is a goldcard, I am unfamiliar with this and would like to know. Can someone please explain to me.
In all the directions i read it said to use the reverse tool and put both your cid and the reverse cid in the goldcard. When i went to the site for the free gold card their was only one line to put your cid in. I thought that the goldcard machine would reverse it for me. I was wrong. you still need to use the reverse cid tool.

[Q] SD is not recognized. Can´t Call, Can´t connect via USB.

I played around and installed some customs roms when this happened.
installed Legend_Lespresso_v1.0_A2SD. wasn´t happy about so I reinstalled azure-1.0.1
and then this happened.
SD is not recognized.
Can´t Call,
Can´t connect via USB.
No connection via Win 7.
I get the debug icon sometimes when connecting to XP.
But when trying let´s say recovery-windows.bat it can´t connect.
Is there something I can do in the built in terminal in the ROM?
Anyone?
Don´t know what to do =(
Have you tried a complete Wipe from the recovery menu?
What about formatting the SD card?
yes I wiped it several times.
And have tried to format the card aswell.
But I formated this in windows -> Fat32
Maybe I should try something else?

dont know about the other problems but about the calls i had same problems:
i installed different roms for a whole day and couldnt get signal then i discovered that the antenna of the legend is placed on the cover of the battery so if its not on,it wont work
Ah ok,
But the thing is that I don´t even have to put in my SIM-lock nr.
That´s why I think that SIM card isn´t recognized either.
I really don´t know what to do
I just bought my Legend one month back, I contacted the official HTC suppliers here, thats a copy of the email!
so they say its in november! with full arabic support, but I believe it will be a little earlier for the international version which (most likely) wont contain arabic within it!
Heres the email:

What´s this got to do with my problem?
I have this same problem like BAWS
On beginging everythink goes fine, I successfull root my Legend and install custom ROM. Problems begin when i change rom for Dark Azure CyanogenMod 6.0.0.
First install of ROM gets only errors of every app that be launch. I wipe phone and install it again.
ROM install successfull but there be no Market on it, I can't sync with Gmail, and the worse on SD card be info there is unavalible. So i format card, change it to gold card and there still this same info. So i change SD card for another, but this not help.
So I try back to my old rom, when i plug phone to PC and go to recovery mode, there be info that be install new devices. That devices be Unknown Devices and be unsuccessfully install.
I try install HTC Legend on recovery mode on 2 PC and 3 Nootebooks and everyone see only Unknown Devices (i have install HTC Sync 3.0.5422)
I try do install RUU_Legend_HTC_WWE_1.31.405.5_R_Radio_47.26.35.04_7.05.35.26L_release_126592_signed.exe but my HTC Legend is not visible by the installer.
When i select option to USB Debugging is this same Win7(x64) is looking for drivers and finaly install it as Unknown Devices
Someone know how repair that ??

Bonethugs thx for advice I try it and it works my HTC Legend is back to normal life
For Baws that is right that you need to see the sdcard, but did you see this in the usb-unbrick post
Also, SD card functionality has to work. For this, do 'fastboot oem enableqxdm 0' in fastboot mode.

Bootloader is [POWER] + [BACK ARROW]

phone lags on 2.2.1 while using vodfone - cant use my phone from the past 2 weeks

ok... i know i've posted alot about this.... bt this is like a mega thread which will give every detail..
specifications before the problem:-
wildfire 2.1 -
8gb kingston class 2 -
uninor (India)(network provider) -
[bought the phone and used my vodafone card till like 1 month then switched to uninor]
i was using the stock rom(but rooted) till dec 20th
The problem:-
When the froyo update came out i installed danne_jo's safe flashable version of the stock rom ... no problems with that... then tried the wildpuzzle 0.6..no problem with that either..bt i switched back to my vodafone card in the 1st week of jan(due to connectivity issues on uninor)...thats when all the problems started... the moment i switched on the data connection... my phone would just freeze..if not immediately then when im surfing or using an app that connects to the internet...or any high memory app...even the home and back buttons would stop giving me vibrations even though i had overclocked my phone to 691/254-710/254 MHz (performance mode)....i continued trying to fix it for 2 days...then got my sim replaced... no luck even der... the phone hangs even with the new card... tried other vodafone sim cards(mother's , brother's, friend's)... the same result everytime...bt when i put my uninor simcard in my phone.... everything works great... even the data connection.... so i started posting on the forum... got great help from 3xeno and daddyspud... they told me to do different tests so that they could pinpoint the problem...this is what all i did and their results
** phone works fine if i have the data connection switched off... no problem using wifi or bluetooth, also it works fine when i dont have any apps installed...
1. flashed the 2.1 RUU and rooted the phone again (2 times)- no change
2. tried different roms - again the same result
3. the sim works fine on stock(atleast better..)
4. everytime the uninor sim worked fine without any lags or freezes
5 . even tried different radios..bt no luck even after that
conclusions i drew from all this:-
1) first i thought that it was coz of apps2sd as its not recommended to use a class 2 card...bt then y does it work fine with the uninor sim in it...??? (weird right??)... and even if it was then how could apps2sd be affected by sim card or data connection??
2) then i thought that it might be because of the network.. bt i confirmed with 3xeno...coz he's also a vodafone customer in India and doesn't face this problem...
3) then i thought that it was coz of froyo...bt 3xeno again confirmed that it wasn't the problem..
4) talked at HTC customer center... they told me to do a hard reset i.e. HBOOT>clear storage
5) then yesterday i jus remembered that once when i was messing around with my phone i had clicked the SIM LOCK option in the HBOOT menu(i was using the uninor sim at that time)..bt according to me nothing happened because every line that came after that ended with the word 'failed'.. i also read a thread on the same.. and it said that it didnt coz any problem if u accidentally clicked on that ...
link to that thread:- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=765420
... bt 3xeno thinks that, it's the source of the problem, and i pretty much do agree to it coz everythings pointing towards that only
* there's also something i'd like to bring to notice... today i installed wildpuzzle v0.8(cache on phone by default).. my phone performed better..bt still did hang......
* Also... when i change my sim cards... i get a notification saying" sim card changed... change the following settings?" which include bookmarks, etc.. nothing major.. it gives 3 options 1.yes 2. no,later 3.no....
now i seriously dont know what the problem is..3xeno thinks its coz of the sim lock stupidity i did..... coz i've tried everything in my knowledge to fix this, i've busted my brains out, sleepless nights sitting in front of my laptop, waititng 4 someone to reply to my posts,i'm really tired, bt im in no mood to give up..... plz its my request to all the devs and anyone who can help me to plz atleast look into this problem...
Thanks to anyone and everyone who have already helped me and are goint to help me!!!!!
common guys!!!! not even a single reply..... plz help me!!!

see the problem you are having is something that is not so common and the second thing is that you have the full knowledge of flashing custom roms aswell as shipped roms.. and since you have tried all the possible methods there might me some defect in your device, that is what i think....
anyways .. i hope you find the answer to your problem.... best of luck
Just a very basic idea - i'm far from beeing a dev.
But it looks to me that your phone thinks (at least partial) that it is simlocked. Can't you try to unlock it using a goldcard and see what it gives?
Don't know how to create such a card or if it would work - it is just an idea.

i read the gold card procedure( http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/ )... bt the thing that i dont understand is what to do after i create the gold card??? also i've got 2 SD cards... one of 512 mb...with this card i reach the end of the procedure bt fail as the card requires formatting... and the other card is sandisk 8gb class 2... with that i cannot get ahead of the 'cat' command.. as it gives me no such file found...

Strange, I just did the same thing, and it works well with me.. sure you didn't mistype it?
I believe that, if you've successfully created a gold card, you can put it in your phone (perhaps reboot?), connect your phone to the computer with usb debugging enabled and than you are allowed to flash any RUU.
But I beleve that is the weak point of my solution: you have already tried (and succeeded) in flashing a RUU (which would not work if your simlocked, I beleve).
But you have nothing to lose, so you can try I think. I have no other ideas than that.
Succes!
