[Q] [HTC Dream] Hangs on first "Rogers" boot screen after SPL - G1 General

Tried to downgrade to original SPL ( h ttp://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?title=Full_Downgrade_Guide_-_HTC_Dream ) after installing Cyanogen, uploaded it on the phone and applied. After a reebot the phone wouldn't boot. Just the ROGERS logo. Can't get to recovery mod either. The phone is not dead, charges perfectly normal. What could be the problem and how to fix it?

The "original" T-Mobile "g1" spl nor the adp1 spl has nothing to do with the original rogers spl..
Since the other original spls don't work on a 3.x radio you now are the proud owner of a brick..
The correct way to unroot a rogers dream is with the official nbh for the 911 upgrade.. and the spl of the update is 1.33.0010 (with the same partition layout as danger 1.33.2005)
Oh and it can be fixed.. see jtag links in my sig. You will be an expert of the dream/magic boot chain after reading all of the wiki and all of the threads it links to posts in..

Thank you very much, I'll start reading

Phone Stuck On HTC Magic Logo

So my phone is stuck on the HTC Magic logo. I don't think it is bricked because I can still access fastboot and Hboot no problem. This all started happening after I went to an older radio and back to the newer one. Now when I turn on my phone it is just stuck on the HTC Magic logo. Why is that? Thanks
By the way here is the info on my phone
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A ENG S-OFF H
HBOOT - 1.76.2007 (SAPP50000)
CPLD - 12
RADIO - 6.35.10.18
What rom did you flash? If you flashed the cyanogen test5 make sure you flash the port file by pershoot or bcrook which will allow the rom to boot past the screen where you are stuck.
yeah I did want to flash the cyanogen t5 but when this happened all I was doing was changing my radio...anyways I've downloaded the bcrook port so what do I do from here?
it was radio rom 1.33.2010
Re-Read // Flash the old version of the radio that was working back on your device via fastboot.
Then if you backed up your phone with recovery -> Nandroid restore it to that point.
Read more into the radio versions and for what boards, and then flash the appropriate radio.
Should be all gravy from there~
_________
EDIT:
This happened to me and after a litte the phone completely stopped working and TMobile sent me a replacement phone.
Be careful when flashing radio's etc.
Does anybody ever read or use the search function?? I mean if they were to read the posts even. On the first page, there is like 3 posts with the same issue.

Help bricked phone?

So I had cyanogenmod 5.0.7 installed and I decided to try the new smoki rom, I realized I had to update radio so I tried the radio tool and all I get was writing radio..... and nothing else it just stayed there for a good 15 minutes. Any ideas?
I have the 32A and it was rooted with a gold card. I can get into fastboot but nothing else. Thanks!
We need more info. Do you have a mytouch 1.2/Fender Edition Mytouch? If so, you cannot run anything other than stock spl and radio (1.33.0013 for spl and radio 2.22.23.02)
The good news is that if you do have a mt3g 1.2/ Fender LE, it is not bricked since you can still get into fastboot. From there, you would need to make another goldcard, load the sappimg that contained the engineering spl and then flash stock radio, amon ra's recovery, and stock spl once again.
Normal Htc
Its a normal magic i.e. rogers branded without headphone jack does. Do i have to do the golden card thing even if I rooted it before? could you point me to a guide for rerooting I'm kind of a n00b
Mod. edit: not dev related, moved to general
Okay, since it is not a mt3g 1.2/Fender LE, I don't think you have to reroot. Can you boot up the phone, can you get into recovery, and can you get into hboot (vol down + power button) ? And what is the spl version right now?
HTC MAGIC
all I can do is get into hboot and fastboot when I try recovery I just the rogers loading screen and it doesnt go away. my spl i think is 1.76.2007 and my current radio says 3.22.20.17 but i did fastboot radio erase and it still shows it. I have tried fastboot flash recovery then booting recovery but it doesnt work I have also tried fastboot flash radio with like 3 different radio images and that didnt work. I'm kind freaking out because I have 0 warranty lols.
Don't freak out, it's not bricked. Don't expect to be able to flash anything if you dont have engineering spl (1.33.2010). Now, I don't have a traditional 32a magic, so this might be the best solution to your problem, however, this is what I know will work.
You need to make a goldcard again and load the engineering spl on it. (I'll look for the link in a bit)/
Then, you boot into Hboot mode and it'll automatically flash the spl for you.
Afterwards, you go into fastboot, flash whatever radio you had originally, then the amon ra recovery image, and then whatever spl you had before.
Lastly, you go into recovery and flash cyanogenmod back. Once you finish doing all of that, I'll help you get the other rom on your magic if you need help.
I'll look for the file you need in a minute. I gotta finish up my physics homework.
EDIT:
Okay. These two guides can explain things a lot better than I can. Choose whichever one you can do more reasily.

If anyone knows a better way to do this, any suggestions would be appreciated.
Golden Card
How would I make a gold card if I can't get the CID because the phone wont boot? Is there another way to read this information of it? I tried googleing but no luck yet
Nvm
Nvm I found the goldcard.img i'm charging my phone right now and i'll try it in a hour thanks for the help.
You can get the CID even if your phone doesnt boot. As long as you're at the boot screen, it'll connect and you can get the CID.
Unsure
Not quite sure how I can fallow the guide since I can only get into fastboot any suggestions?
tried engineering spl
I got this engineering spl ROM v2.53.707.2 (Engineerings SPL v1.33.2010) - MD5 : F9674D19BE5F949D0D9DC99714D210E3 and put it on a golden memory card but the hboot doesnt recognize it do I need to rename it? I also tried flashing radio again with fastboot flash radio radio.img with radio.img being the old and new radio still as soon as it starts writing the htc screen goes black but on and the phone becomes unresponsive

[Q] heeelllllpppp plz , Magic 32b problems

first post so hi all , just wondered if anyone could help with my problem , i have a htc magic 32b voda (unlocked) plus rooted by goldcard , tried to install various compatible roms with no success , at first i used a one click rooter - pants! didnt seem to work at all and wouldnt let me write any files and would fail installation
so i rooted via goldcard and my installations complete fully without any errors at all ....but......i cant seem to get off the red voda loadup screen and boot in to the phone at all after that so i have to restore my nandroid backup and start again ........any ideas as to why this is failing miserably for me ? im wiping and reformattin also between reinstalling .
Sapphire pvt 32b eng s-off H
hboot-1.33.2005 (sapp10000)

radio3.22.20.17
thanks in advance to anyone who can help me !!!
You have wrong radio/spl combo.
Change your radio to 2.22.19.26I.
Flash G custom recovery (32B).
Flash any 32B rom or your nandroid backup.
PS: Make sure that the last "H" in the first line of your fastboot change back to "G".
This will happen when you change the radio!
thanks , but now i have a worse problem , after i updated the radio and reebooted there is nothing , the phone is stuck on the logo again but with no recovery options , fastboot or anything is there a way to restore it sumhow ? or is it bricked forever ?
According to this page:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=659403
You should have the 2.22.19.26I radio. The spl you have works fine with this radio.
So which radio did you flash and how did you flash it...
Post here the command you used.. plus the source of the radio image...
ps: I hope that you did not flash the 2.22.23.02 radio... that's for the magic with 3.5 mm jack!
ii flashed the 2.22.19.26I radio in the clockworkmod recovery option- install .zip from sdcard, after wiping cache and data , image for radio was also found on here somewhere.
Did you let it reboot a couple of times?
Did the process reboot into the recovery by it self?
Why did you flash radio from recovery when you have eng spl?
Any way... if you don't have recovery nor fastboot you are in a bad situation.
Do a search in this sub-forum and you shall find many suggestions to how to fix if possible.
Good luck :0)
Why does he need the 26I radio? I'm on a 32b mytouch and I'm running the 23.02 radio with no problems on any of the roms i've tried.
so i take it i bricked because i flashed the wrong radio?!! or because i may have flashed it wrongly ?

I *think* it's more a bad combination of SPL and radio that causes a brick, rather than the radio itself, if that makes sense?
No body knows!
Imho i think that you did not let the radio write operation complete in the right way.
When you flash radio trough recovery the system will reboot twice.
If you flashed the radio you said you flashed, then your system should be up and running. Even if you flashed the other 2.22 radio...
It also seems like a bad flash of radio since you got no activity at all now. Radio is like bios for a computer... No bios or bad bios will result in a brick!
ahhh thinkin hope was lost ...wen i read about brickin , it seems that nobody who had bricked it could connect via usb at all ...... but after leaving my usb connected for the day a unknown device is found but no drivers will install for it , when attempting to turn on into recovery still no fastboot but also device isnt found on pc anymore , is there any way with phone turned off and charging to restore at all ... anything would be helpfull ... thanks guys

Can only get into fastboot, nothing is working.

[EDIT2] Ok, having issues again and now it's worse. I decided to update to the to 6.35 radio and the 1.76 spl and it wasn't working, so I tried the method again by flashing a sappimg.img, it hangs updating the radio and not the SPL is back at the stock 1.33 with security on so I can't manually update the radio or get into recovery and the sappimg is not working.
Can anyone help me out with this situation?
[EDIT] Nevermind, I figured it out on my own. Used the unroot method from www.theunlockr.com.
Ok, so I picked up a T-mo myTouch 3G 1.2 to play with.
I went through the process of trying to flash a new ROM, but I am having some issues.
I rooted it, then proceeded to the rom flashing steps in the wiki (yes I tried to read as much as I could before I started). I got the message about no remote access so I figured I had a perfected SPL.
I went through the "fix" process and created a goldcard and flashed the sappimg that had the engineering 1.33.2010 SPL and the 3.22.x radio (originally had the 2.22.x radio I believe). After doing this the phone will not get past the first splash screen.
I can still get into fastboot so I tried flashing a custom recovery and the flash said it was successful, but I can't seem to boot into recovery mode.
I tried changing the radio and still nothing.
Where did I go wrong and how can I fix it? I really appreciate any help.
Thanks
bump, first post updated with a new issue
power n home button? im guessing u did that already
32b myTouch 3g 2.2.1
Cyanogen Nightly 271
Hboot - 1.33.0006
Radio - 2.22.19.26i
Kernel - 2.6.35.9
ADW 1.3.3
ClockworkMod Recovery
Slideit keyboard
tried that, im unable to get into recovery.
I know how to fix it, I just can't find the right resources.
I need a sappimg file that has a security off SPL in it. The sappimg file loads and starts to flash, it just hangs when loading the radio.
There is a sappimg file that has an engineering spl in it that I got from the "How to fix a perfected spl" thread, but it hangs when trying to update "system" and doesn't make it to the bootloader.
I either need a sappimg that will load the eng spl first or one that is just the spl (if that's possible).
If I can do that, then I can flash the radio through flashboot, then use the original sappimg to get back to stock and start from scratch.
Can anyone help me with that?
dont know if you found out how to get back to orignal rom but go to shipped-roms.com choose android and under sapphire download this file
SAPPIMG_Sapphire_T-Mobile_US_2.10.531.4_release_signed
its the stock 1.2 rename it to sappimg and put it on goldcard. then put the goldcard into phone. power the phone on while holdding volume down and power button. let it load and press yes to update.
hope this helps you cause i was stock in the same position

[Q] Stuck At Unzipping Screen (Now It Won't Go Into Recovery Mode)

Hey everyone.
I was rooting my MyTouch 3g w/3.5mm this morning. I'm following the instructions from here ( http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/11/how-to-root-the-mytouch-1-2-and-fender-mytouch/ ). I had apparently messed up when I was at the restart after flashing sappimg.zip onto the phone and was stuck at the HTC Magic Screen. I restarted my phone by holding down the Reject Call + Volume Down key and told it to flash sappimg.zip onto the phone again so I could redo it correctly. Unfortunately, it's stuck at the "[1] SYSTEM - UNZIPPING" stage. I'm afraid to turn it off because it says to not power off the device.
So, yeah, have I bricked my phone or is there a way to restart this process so I can successfully root?
Thanks much, and have a happy holiday.
EDIT: This sort of resolved itself, but now I can't get into recovery mode. :/

So your flashing the engineering spl for the first time or are you flashing the stock spl back?

I'm flashing the engineering spl onto there for the first time.
It appears that being stuck at the Magic screen is normal according to a different (but similar) guide from the Cyanogen Wiki. Would it irreparably damage my phone if I removed the battery despite it being at the "Unzipping" screen for Sappimg (as I was unzipping sappimg for a second time) and proceeding with CyanogenMod's guide instead?
EDIT: It appears my phone just turned off on it's own (battery probably died). I'm going to try CyanogenMod's instructions and see if that works.
EDIT 2: So, I reflashed it with the sappimg that Cyanogen has on his wiki. So everything was smooth sailing until I got to the Recovery step. I cannot, for the life of me, to get it to boot in recovery mode. I hold HOME+POWER but nothing pops up.
EDIT 3: And it appears as if I've bricked it.

Will the rom start? If so, you didn't brick it.
Do you have the Engineering SPL on it? What SPL version do you currently have on there? Remember that if you have the T-Mobile US MyTouch w/3.5mm jack then you MUST have 32B recovery and radio and STOCK (1.33.0013) SPL before flashing a custom rom.
Best way to do it is to flash your custom recovery (I suggest Clockwork Recovery for Mytouch/ION devices) by fastboot.
Afterwards then flash your stock (S-ON) SPL back and then boot to recovery to flash your rom.
REMEMBER!!! YOU DO NOT HAVE A 32a DEVICE! DESPITE WHAT THE SPL SAYS... IT'S NOT TECHNICALLY A 32a DEVICE!!! You MUST treat is as a 32b.

Oh, wow. That explains why I bricked the phone. The Amon_RA Recovery I put on there was 32a... I'm an idiot.
The phone won't start up at all. :/ Looks like I'm out $100 or so.
Thanks for that, though. I was going to give you a "Thanks" but it appears the button has disappeared for me.

If it looks like a brick, if it sounds like a brick then it's probably...
I have a similar problem. I purchased this phone and it just almost works. It boots into fastboot just fine but not recovery. Here are the specifics as they stand now.
Sapphire unknown 32A ship S-on H
CLD 13
Radio 3.22.20.17
May 8 2009, 21:02:32
I made a good gold card...tried the 2010 spl...still hangs during unzip step of the flash process. Any other ROM and I get a main version older error.
Fastboot info version main 2.53.707.2
cid T-MOB010
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Nice job on probably bricking your phone. You've got the myTouch 1.2 which means you just flashed an incompatible radio. Congratulations!!! I honestly not sure what to tell you. Which sappimg are you trying to use to get the engineering SPL?
Like i said...it was like this when I bought it.
I'm going to try to do a poorman's JTAG...wish me luck.

Good luck! You can do it!
If you have any questions along the way, please don't hesitate to ask.
JTAG did in fact de-brick my MT3G 1.2 (bought from ebay) the first time I tried it. I made the mistake of flashing the stock ROM, so I would get to the "touch the android to begin" screen and couldn't get any further without a data plan. It wasn't until I probably flashed the wrong sappimg in a root attempt that I started experiencing the stuck at unzipping/FAIL-PU/remote signature verify fail problem...
FYI, I tried flashing radio 2.22.28.25 (the one from the OTA) using JTAG and the radata command, and it fixed my USB. I haven't experiemented much beyond that, but I'm planning to try some more things this weekend.
Moderators, I'd like to suggest merging this thread with http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=773368 and http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=771622 since they all seem to be discussing the same problem.
