I thought the G2 was going to be a vanilla android device..
And if it does have HTC stuff there might be problems related to framework.

What I can tell you is that this build does not include Rosie.apk which is the core of SenseUI, so this is definitely more vanilla than other recent HTC Android phones.
Drizzy corrected himself later. he apparently had the Ace and G2 dumps confused.
The one I posted on twitter (link a few posts above) is the unpackaged and rezipped system.img from the leaked G2 ROM

Apologies for the noob question here, but is there anyway to extract bootanimation.zip from the ROM?
There doesn't seem to be a bootanimation.zip file included in the system dump.
There is a bootanimation file in the dump under bin folder havent tried to do anything with it yet jus got the dump jus starting to sift thru it dont seem to be much usefull to me so far pertty standard **** dont look like any apps are anything id wanna put effort into porting as of now

That's not a bootanimation. That's an executable you're looking at.
Android stores the actual boot animation under /system/media/.
Has anyone played with the launcher yet? Apparently the dock is customizable but I can't figure out how.

in order to change the buttons on the launcher you need to get the settings.apk as well, i tried pushing both on my slide and launcher looks good, but settings crashes when i open the quick keys option. i will post back if i get it working(may even give a screenshot
i got as far as the tutorial looking wizard for quick keys but when trying to use the widget or going through settings it crashes(this might be due to the lack of keys mapped to those positions which can be looked into later) if you want pics check my twitter and i can upload more upon request

I was wondering if someone with a bit more experience could help me out? This may not be possible till source is out but hey no hurt in trying. If so when source is available then I will know where the files I need are located.
Here's what I found in my research so far...
I see a keyguard_screen_tab_unlock.xml and keyguard_screen_tab_unlock_land.xml that are used in framework-res.apk as well as the 4 holo drawable's.
Then I found the WaveView.smali files in framework.jar widget folder.
Also in android.policy.jar impl folder is LockScreen$WaveViewMethods.smali.

Any help would be awesome, again I have no clue if this is possible?

Made some progress and got the .jar's compiled and the framework-res.apk compiled as well Only a few errors left - http://goo.gl/XC9v6 I think I just need to use all the honeycomb lockscreen stuff and it may just work I'm still experimenting and really hope this works...

OMG YES!!! cuz im actually not liking the current "honeycomb wannabe lockscreen" thats out
So hey, i got tired of that graphic glitch, extracted the apk and decompiled it and looked thru the xml's and found errors in 2 of them (icon_camera_selector.xml & icon_play_selector.xml) and fixed what png's they called for.. camera selector was referencing pngs in com.htc.resources.apk that were the wrong ones obviously, and the play_selector.xml was referencing 2 play png icons in it too, i copied those from the htc apk and put them in the camera apk and fixed the xml..

my question is, how could something like this happen? from what i can see its almost like someone used some app or script that constructed this apk from scratch and it "guessed" what the files where supposed to be..? i dont know...

Don't using apk tool to decompile it. There are a lot of bugs to decompile the system APK.
You have using HEX Editor software like UltraEditor to modify the APK to fix the resource issue.
Can you explain what are the "graphic glitches" you are talking of?

hmm, ive used apk manager for awhile, and i see that it does use apk tool, but ive decompiled and recompiled so many xmls with it and as long as i do things in a certain order and the right way, it hasnt failed me..

you know, the thundercloud, wish list or globe (it seems to vary)..
its supposed to be a 54x54 png, but it was set to access a 200x200 png...
Im curious, does anyone know of a version of the camera apk or a build that its in that doesnt crash when you hit the send button in review?
i want to compare some code and see if maybe i can spot where the issue might be..

Because of the htccamera is using the HTC customize resource, it will fail on decompile and recompile.
You mush modify from hex code, there is no easy way to use some tools to fix it.

In my memory, no body fix it
You can fix by yourself, it is very easy to do, just waste a lot of times
I had fix Thunder-cloud before, it is more complicated than this issue.

there is one in themes and apps...
it is an miui camera app. works better than stock gb camera app.

You Get graphic error DURING Review ..
Your ONLY Option was/is To Turn Off Review ..
CMY Made a Ver That Disabled The Review Totally.
Most Important to me anyway Is The Review! I Use My Phone For Work.
And Its Nice To See The Pictures So I Know They Are Good ..
The send button in review - is a Different Issue ..
And I Never Use It Much Anyway .. Would Be Nice If It Got Fixed

well, i dont know what to say, i decompiled it with no issues, i identified 2 xml's that were using resources in the htc resource apk, fixed those xmls to point to the right ones in the camera apk, recompiled and installed, and its working just fine.. as far as i can tell it had no built in dependence towards the htc resource apk..

well the build im working with right now is imilka's RAM Desire HD v1.0 and its based on the 1.84 oem build, so thats what this camera apk is from and fixed for, i know about cmy's fix, which really isnt, since like you said all it does is disable review, this fixes that...

reported for what? you were able to take out the globe and thunder cloud without disabling the review? can you share your file?
edit: it just disable the review and did not correct the error.

yeah, i should report you for not reading... the thread you "quoted" doesnt offer an actual fix, it just disables review, this actually fixes the graphic issue and not just disables it so you dont see it..

I need this apk made into an installable one. It's the digital clock widget from the SGS2 but won't install in my HD2.
Not sure how to do that, but there's a chance that it needs touch wiz. Much like sense widgets need sense to work.

Nan, not this widget. I was using Launcher Pro instead of TW and the widget was still usable. Others weren't, though.

there's also a chance that it works only on gingerbread, I've a few apps that would only work on certain gingerbread builds.

I'm using Gingerbread in my HD2 so I should be able to this widget. It isn't TW dependent but did have an odex file, which I didn't copy.
Wanna post it anyway and see if anyone with GB can install it ?

yes because htc and microsoft are having "agreement issues" thats y its on htc windows phones but not android. My wife has an older android phone but its not htc and it got it.

Well thats why im here looking for someone who has uploaded it. My wife's phone has proved to be very stubborn to root or i would have done it already

Noob here, and maybe a noob suggestion. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
You said that your wife's phone got to install the apk. Couldn't you use ES File Explorer or something to back up the app and get the apk? I think you don't need root to be able to do that.
If you do manage to get it, I hope you share the apk here too. The Android market doesn't want to play nice with any of my devices when it comes to the Halo Waypoint app.

it appears as if this .apk is only for dual core devices. I just downloaded it to my Transformer w/o problem but it will not run on my Glacier.
To add, the app is also picky with regard to user location. It says not available for your country on my KF.

Its really disappointing that they hype this all over and they release it 8/10 customers cant download and use it. They hype it for months and never say that it couldn't run on single cores. Still trying to figure something out

I haven't had any luck getting the apk. I've heard some have but i don't think anyone has posted so i hope someone does if they have gotten the apk
Finally got it, works well on my Evo 4G using Miks Rom, and my friends stock Evo 3D. Here you go guys, hope it works for you all.

np man. I was going crazy looking for it last night but never found it online. Couldn't wait to get to work today so I can used one of our 30 androids to get the app for me and back it up. lol. I used an LG Ally to pull it and works fine on my Evo.
Works perfectly in Evo Shift 4G w/ official 2.3.3 firmware. Just wish I could move it off to an SD Card!

Note: Some things will not work, since our phones do not have Touchwiz, you can't for example say "memo hi" and expect it to do anything but force close. It does however display information very nice and organized. ex: Whats the weather like today?
Also updated OP with a new thread with more apps.

Hey X might want to put something in OP about these being for ICS. I've been testing Moped's 2.2 and they aren't working. I went to the 2nd link you posted and he says these are for ICS only. Just to save you some trouble when people start asking/telling that these aren't working.
any idea on how to install the apps. do we put the odex files in the system/apps folder or data/apps with the apps? also S voice is tough to get cause I only have 14 mbs left in system memory and the apk is close to 30.
