Hi,
I doesn't find one of my apps in the market while browsing on the HTC Wildfire. A user has the same problem on his Xperia X10 mini. Some of my apps are visible and all are based on one AndroidManifest-File. I think that one of the used permissions prohibit the listing:
android.permission.READ_CONTACTS
android.permission.WRITE_CONTACTS
android.permission.SEND_SMS
android.permission.RECEIVE_SMS
android.permission.VIBRATE
android.permission.CALL_PHONE
Does somebody experiences the same?
Markuz
It's the resolution of the Wildfire that is the problem.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=749873
I don't find anything about the resolution in this thread!?
I also have a HTC Wildfire and many apps are not there because I think they only support 800x480 resolution. I don't want to use AppBrain, but I have also access to a Motorola Milestone so I simply get the apps there then export the apk and install it on my Wildfire. Usually most of the apps are still working, i.e. various Storm8 titles or Barcoo. But it's really annoying because if there's an update I get a message on my wildfire but then again I have to use the Milestone to actually get the update.

Just wondering if anyone has thought of or better still started to build an XDA App Store.
I am thinking of an app we can all download to our phones, it will auto see what phone you have and only show those apps from XDA users, auto download updates of installed apps, auto download dependancies etc.
I have used an iphone hacked with cydia and such and it is much easier for downloading programs in this manner.
Just my 2 cents guys, I do hope we see something someday.
I know that you said that it should be XDA-specific, but another option is called App2Date.
Take a look here:
http://www.modaco.com/content/windo.../lend-your-support-to-a-generic-updater-tool/
I was thinking of making one myself, but I definitely do not have time to even start such a project. I'm fairly busy with other ones.
Its not quite what I imagined.
That program does the updates, but like cydia for a hacked iphone you should be able to download new programs as well.
I honestly don't think it would be too hard or dificult to make.
All we really need is an app to list the programs based on the device and wm version your currently running.
The only problem will be to find somewhere to store the apps. A solution could be a simple databased maintaned and hosted by XDA, that will list the program name, details, OS and device information (so you can get the correct version for your phone) and a direct download link to the cab file. This way the apps can be hosted anywhere and we can avoid having to run and pay for a huge data transfer of programs.
I can possibly help with the database if anyones interested in helping to write the actuall app. Then the listings can be maintaned by xda registered users.
Hi,
i am one of the developers of mobile2day.com an we have the possibility to provide a big database with applications mapped to several devices. So we can show only applications for a specific device.
We have allready a mobile solution running on http://mobile2day.mobi/en/usd/index.html where you can buy and download applications. Maybe we can think about to add beta software, too.
Please, if you are interested feel free to contact me.
I was owner of an iPhone before I bought my Touch Pro and besides the fact that the iPhone is not that good it has one big advantage: The AppStore
I would love that kind of store for WM Apps
Is anyone else unable to get certain apps from the Android Market on their Vibrant?
Search www dot cyrket dot com for anifree (the author of a Live wall paper I want). See all the apps/wallpapers? Now take your Vibrant to the market and search for the same thing (anifree). You'll find their Agenda and their Funny Pic apps. Not a single wall paper.
Shooting the barcode in Google Goggles or Barcode Scanner returns the same result. App not found.
Anyone have any advice?
I have experienced this issue as well, not sure how to fix it or what it's caused by. Let me guess your looking for the koi pond wallpaper? In the theme section there's a thread titled live wallpapers, and you'll find it in there.

I'm having this issue with my new vibrant also. My phone is rooted and I thought that might have something to do with it, but I checked on a family member's new vibrant and the anipet live wallpapers also don't show for them with a market search or using the qr code on cryket. I installed the koi wallpaper on my phone from the live wallpapers thread, and the atrackdog app showed it has an update available, but it's link can't access the app from the market either. There were a few other live wallpapers I've been unable to access thru the market or cryket, starfield and panoplanet are a couple that come to mind.
I'm unable to some apps in the market either... I haven't rooted or anything yet. Anyone figure out how to fix this phone so that we can see all apps in the market?
Apparently there are different versions of the market, I only got mine to work after applying metamorphs that had the adverse effect of changing the version I had.

What happens is this, as I've read from another thread: when a company launches a new phone, they tell google about it. Google then updates the market so that if your phone's specs (what version of android it is running, mainly) are capable of running the app you're trying to find, it shows it to you. If Google knows your phone can't run it, it won't let you see the app in the market to avoid you downloading something that you cannot run.
Sometimes Google updates their market database quickly, or sometimes it takes them a long time.... like it apparently is taking for the Vibrant. So it currently doesn't know that the Vibrant is an Eclair 2.1 phone, which supports live wallpapers (some phones running 2.1 don't). It thinks the Vibrant can't use them, so it blocks them.
If there are apps you want, I would suggest getting the APK from a reliable source elsewhere and installing it. For example, last I checked Angry Birds wasn't available on the market, but someone posted a link so that you may download it from elsewhere.
It is kind of strange though because some live wallpapers do show up, and some don't. Apparently though it is all up to Google. There might be a way to modify the identity of your phone to the market so it thinks it is one of the phones that is currently recognized as a phone that can run anything, but I don't know of it, I'm new to the whole mod/root scene.
The application manifest file for an android app can specify all of the supported hardware combinations.
Generally android will refuse to load an app if it can't find a hardware configuration that matches the device.
For example: if all of the configurations listed in the applications manifest file require a d-pad, android will refuse to install it on any device lacking that feature.

Hi,
The xperia x10 I have does not show some apps in market searches- som major ones like froyo, fring, repligo reader and skype.
It has been rooted as adviced in one of the threads as market app wasnt available initially. the rooting I think was not successful 100% but the market showed up by the end of the process.
Is there a fix already in circulation, wasnt able to zero in on anything. Thanks in advance
Reason is your region.
root your phone and use market enabler that will allow you to change your region for a few time or every time you boot
it has a default list but you can get a full list on the internet
ok i've found a game i realy want on the android market (stupid zombies) did a search but no luck.
so i use the online market https://market.android.com/ and found it however can not install as my phone is not reconized.
so search here on xda and found
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=983853
Try'd to install but half way through the phone reset
Next thought was to update the market got an APK file from
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=869964 but aways came up with an error
so now i ask for a helping hand
and ideas would be appreciated
so i played with another phone today (desire HD) and found that are beloved phones are missing quite a few games/apps
i held both phones side by side scrolling though the market and noticed that 1 in 8 were missing
still unsure if it has enything to do the market update or a phone compatibility issue
i believe results are filtered for device compatibility. like on windows mobile marketplace, where you'd receive more results with an old blueangel than with a blackstone, as there were more qvga apps and ones that require a physical keyboard.
when it comes to the desire hd vs. the blackstone, the issue could be the blackstone's lack of multi touch for example. maybe there are some exclusive apps, that wouldn't work without it and to minimize the risk of people buying an incompatible app, they get filtered out in advance.
hey guys
I've used a lot of different roms already and i recognized that the market doesnt list all apps since theres a device filter. Is there any way to emulate another device ? For example a desire hd so i have access to all apps? I also used apps to emulate my carrier etc. but that didnt change anything
Are there any apps that you are specifically looking for. I have experienced this same problem with only certain apps being shown because of certain devices. On the other hand, The Android market seams to be removing a lot of apps that are technically Illegal like most of the MP3 music apps. My phone is currently listed as the Sensation and I am still having trouble finding certain apps!!
