Yes. Unlike blackberry, it doesn't confirm the name before dialing, which leads to some misdialed calls, but overall it is very nice.
Great. Thanks!
Bluetooth dialing in Froyo is the same as the regular voice dialing app, just available via bluetooth. So I experience the same accuracy via BT now that I had via the phone's mic before.
Its not as accurate as Nuance on the Devour, X, BB, or LG feature phones, BUT its better than nothing!
So if this is based on the same function, can you instead if saying "Call Joe Shmo"..... Can you say "Email Joe Shmo SUBJECT Test MESSAGE blah blah blah".....
So you can email while driving without having to touch the phone (except for the send button)

Does anyone know if there will be any progress getting bluetooth headsets to voice dial with the Android OS? From what I've seen, Google has been very lax in pushing forward with this much needed capability. They have not even added it in version 2.1.
Is there any way that a workaround can be implemented? I have been holding off getting an Android phone for this very reason.
I apologize if this topic has been posted elsewhere.

Try Voice Dialer HF. Not perfect but works very well.

Interesting, but i'm not able to found it in market...... any ideas?

Idk
The Verizon Devour and the Canadian Droid on Telus, called the Milestone, have Bluetooth initiated voice dialing by a company called Nuance. The built-in Android/Google voice recognition has had it's BTVD disabled because it only doesn't perform well with a Bluetooth headset but is apparently adequate with the phones mic. I wish someone would use the ROMs from those phones to add this feature to the Droid or Incredible but so far no one has. It'd even be cool to see if someone could compile a ROM for Android that flips the switch in the code just so people can try it out. Or better yet, fix whatever problem there is with the quality of Bluetooth voice so that the built-in Android voice recognition could handle it. Man, I want to get rid of my Devour but I can't until I can safely use these killer phones in my car.

This whole issue is like deja vu for those of us that were old-timers with Windows Mobile, which also didn't support VD via the BT headset. And ironically, the excuse given by Microsoft was exactly the same: that voice quality wasn't good enough for voice recognition when using a BT headset. However, MS somehow managed to magically solve this -- voice dial via BT is now supported in WM and works great.
So I have to think that Google's bright engineers could do the same thing if it became a priority. It's obviously not, and won't be unless users really start complaining loudly enough. That's exactly what it took to get action from MS, too.

I know 2.2 was supposed to start support for bluetooth voice dialing, but I have no idea how to get it to work. On old phones I would just sync them up and tap the main button on the headset and hear "say a command." Is there additional setup I need to do to get this working on android?

I just posted the same thing. I dont see anyway to get it working which leads me to beleive that its not actually available.
Anyone have any way of making calls via bluetooth on Froyo yet or is this not gonna happen for us epic owners??? WTF is the deal with this???
Anyone? am I the only person that misses this basic function??. lol..
HELP!!!!
After installing newest voice search (voice actions) in DK17, this worked for me... however, after upgrading to DK28 it no longer works. WTF?
Yeah my jawbone also doesn't work for voice dialing, but worked fine on my old pos "dumb" phone.

I am having the exact same problem. I called Jawbone, and they have had problems with samsung. my jawbone worked with voice dial on my EVO with 2.2 no problem. I am wondering if there is a fix for this that the devs can tackle.
I hope someone gets this fixed. Its really annoying that a phone so "advanced" cant do what my old ass pos flip phone could do like 8 years ago. lol.

It worked for me on DK17 (Quantum before 2.0) but not on DK28 (Quantum 2.0 & 2.1 - haven't tested newer yet). I asked in the Quantum thread if any known changes may have affected it (& audio out from the Samsung docks) but got no response.

I have a Voyager Pro and I use Vlingo for voice dialing over BT.....that's the simplest solution I have found so far.....
I would also be interested in getting this working in froyo, or at least understanding what makes it work in DK17. Anyone having this issue I promise you its not your headsets, it the roms.
I pulled all the bluetooth apks and the voice dailer apk from the /system/app in quantums 1.5(working BT-voice dailing), and then pushed them to /system/app in various dk28 roms I had installed, with no luck. It didn't brake anything, but it didn't enable BT-voice dailing.
My guess is there is a lib file missing, dk17 has a bluetooth apk that isn't present in any dk28 roms, "BluetoothPBAP.apk" in /system/app. Its the apk that I think may need a lib or other associated files.
I ended up going back to di18 for now due to the current froyo bug causing failed call connects. I make calls all day long(i know its strange, but I for one use my phone as a phone =D), and I was getting 15-20 failed call connects a day on froyo and it was driving me crazy.
Perhaps someone else can push the dk17 files to a dk28 roms, do some debugging and see if its a missing dependency and if so, which one.
PS, interesting that vlingo allows voice dailing over BT, i'll have to try this one di18, would love to have that functionality.
ps
Here the download link for quantum rom 1.5(the last dk17 verson)

I thought is was strange also, later i'm going to look in Vlingo and see what's in it I can make it work on Viper Rom. (best out there, thanks to Viper team) As I said i'll report back when I get time to do it.
I just switched from Winmo to Android and I'm having a very aggravating issue with android. I can not find a voice command application that will not search the internet before it decides to make a call. I'm wondering if there's a voice command application that I can get that will not require the internet to work?
my second problem right now is, trying to activate this voice command by using the multifunction button on my bluetooth (Jabra bt8010). Pressing it activates my stereo music function even when i did not activate the music function mode. I'm not sure what is going on with it, but I'm wondering if there's a way around it.
I'm currently using Virtuous Rom 1.01.
I did a search and did not find any hits so if I happen to miss the thread for it, please link it and I'll head there.
Thanks.
My problem is when i press the voice dial button on my bluetooth headset (Sound ID 510) the headset prompts me to give a command but my phone does not respond to the command that way. The only way it works is when i press the app from the actual phone! And i know it works with the headset cause it works on my Curve i have!
Does anyone know of a way to make it respond when i touch the button from the headset?? I would greatly appreciate the help!
I am using Virtuous 0.9.0 Sence Rom and i have searched everywhere for an answer!
Edit: After trying for a couple days of how to fix this problem I just restarted my phone after posting this and everything picked up--go figure!!

Recently got this watch and Bluetooth was working fine in 1.5 version. the microphone on watch stopped working after android wear 2.0 update.
Looks like the software glitch. This watch discontinued by the Verizon. Is there a way to fix the issue through ADB or some other mean?

Does your microphone still work for Google Assistant?
yes the microphone still works for OK Google type stuff but it doesn't work as a bluetooth headset profile. You can hear them but they cannot hear you. Checked the log cat and it seems that there is a bluetooth stack issue.

Hello, just bought a wear24 and after AW2.0 upgrade microphone Works For Voice To Text When Messaging But Not For Phone Calls Over Blueooth. Is There A setting For This Or Is It Aw2.0 Bug Or Wear24 Issue?
Also when I swipe down from the watch face to view the quick menu (eg. settings, airplane mode selection, etc.) at the bottom there are icons next to the battery level icon that indicate bluetooth is not connected (cloud with line through it) when indeed BT is connected. The watch face does indicat correctly when BT disconnects and connects. Is this typical with the Wear24? Another bug?
sounds like its a profile issue, based on other comments. No idea how to help, however.
I have the same problem. Microphone works with OK google or when I dictate a message but it doesn't work when I make a call. The other person can't hear me. Any help would be appreciated. I didn't try it before the android 2.0 update. Just bought the watch 1 week ago
Interesting... I've made a call to my house phone through the watch and my wife could hear me fine. I was talking into it like I was James Bond though, maybe that made a difference? Also she said it sounded just like as if I was on my phone and no I didn't activate the SIM.

Was your phone near by? My watch comes tomorrow, so I can't test this myself yet. But it seems the issue is that the watch is being recognized as Bluetooth headphones and not a Bluetooth headset.
Also are you on AW 1.5? Apparently 2.0 broke it. Not sure if it's been fixed as of 2.8.

My phone was on my couch and I was in the kitchen so it was about 18ft away.
AW version is 2.8. however my phone doesn't show the watch as a headset within the Bluetooth menu. In fact it doesn't show it being connected.
Did figure something else out though and I can't receive incoming calls. It doesn't notify me at all for calls. Other than that everything seems to work as should... I'm going to keep fiddling

Yes it is. But I do have an update...
This morning I did a factory reset. I let everything update first after setup. This time I disabled the SIM first before doing anything else. Now I have all the functionality but I too now have an issue with the microphone, but only in the case of using the watch as a phone. But I now can control incoming calls. So the only functionality I lost was using the watch as a phone. Honestly I have no use case for that but I do have a use case for ignoring phone calls which I now have...
As for what the difference is... Only thing I can think of is enabling the SIM which apparently gives you access to another app, probaby Verizon specific, which handles phone calls, walking through that configuration but not activating the SIM, you know the 5/month thing I was able to make calls through the watch using the microphone but beware the notifications were wonky also you lose your ability to intercept incoming calls.
Sorry if that was kind of confusing. I'm on my.ohone at work and trying to provide as much detail as quick as possible.

Thanks for the reply. I thought the problem is not with Verizon. Seems like is just the software issue from Google. Hope it will get fixed.

No problem. Honestly if I can figure out the name of that app within the system apps I might be able to give it permission just for the microphone and then maybe just maybe we could use the watch like James Bond. Not sure though I may try when I get home.
