The builds for our beloved HD2 are ported from Desire or Nexus One, which have a trackball. The HD2 hasn't one, so directional arrows on the keyboard (like on WM or HTC EVO) would be very handy. Is there a way to install the standard Evo Keyboard on HD2? Is there any .apk for that?
I've been searching, with no success. Found a previous post, sorry: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=754868

My TMO Nexus One should be here Tuesday. I've played around with various android versions on my HTC Pure. My neighbor/friend has the N1 and 2 things I think I am concerned about is the Dialer and Keyboard.
The HTC Dialer and Keyboard is really nice. Can I just install them as packages vs having to flash the whole rom? Being a WM chef I know the Keyboard and Dialer can be complicated packages to move from device to device... but figured I'd research it before hand.
All my searching points to its not out yet... but they were from like Feb. Any update?
The HTC keyboard can just be added by installing an app. And a better speed dialpad called dial one is free in the market.
Dialer one is a kick ass dialer and installs and uninstalls like any other app. Swype would be my choice of keyboard. Check the thread down in apps for the latest download links.
yea I found Dial One. Seems like a good alternative. I don't like Swype. I used to cook it in my roms for a while there but found the HTC keyboard has a better dictionary.
I can probably get by with Dial One and the HTC keyboard app. Thanks!
Today i am really mad with HTC.
I am an owner of HTC HD2 (LEO)
I went to a store in greece to see the new HTC HD-mini (photon) to have a closer look.
I tapped the internet tab on htc sense and it opened Pocket Internet Explorer, and having the habbit of opera mobile of my hd2 and i started pinch 2 zoom and i couldn't believe on my own eyes..!!!
The HD mini had multitouch support on Internet Explorer.
The Rom version that i saw was 1.07.482.1 ELL.
Why HD2 doesn't have multitouch on pie and HD-mini has.??
Can somebody explain me pls.??
Any developer to bring the multitouch pie from HD-mini to LEO??
Thanks in advance.
i think HTC wants you to buy HTC HD Mini when you already have HTC HD2.

The HD2 originally had multitouch in PIE but it was removed for some reason or another.
It would be nice to have pinch to zoom in IE (I don't think full multitouch is possible), but I don't recall seeing a build anywhere.
A possible reason is that 6.5 didn't properly support capacitive screens while 6.5.3 (hence why the HD Mini with stock 6.5.3 has PtZ PIE while the HD2 doesn't. Only Opera).
Personally, I still prefer Opera, and with FixOperaFlash, PIE has been made redundant (to me) on my HD2.
hello, First and foremost, I would say that I have searched and searched but I have not found anything. I might not have searched well enough, but I have tried at least!
I want the htc hd 2 keyboard on my htc hd. Is there a cab file with the new keyboard all the chef uses on the new ROMs? if you understand. i want the original, not a UI that look like the new keyboard.
I'm also looking for the HD2 keyboard for Blackstone.
Keep looking and priv message me I you find it!
i do not know the hd2 keyboard, but if you are interested i am using the resco keyboard, i have used many keyboards but none like the resco. the only downside is that it is not free, but at least they have a 30 day trial version.
yeah, have heard about Resco, but i want the original hd2 keyboard, no 3.parts.
anyway thanks for trying
Hi all,
I had previously an iphone 3GS that i lost, and plan to buy the HTC desire HD. But i just tried the G Nexus One, and find the copy/paste not convenient to see the least, and sometimes even impossible.
I saw that new HTC sense had a similar text selection magnifier as the iPhone, and was wondering if the HTC Desire HD ROM new HTC sense had this feature only in HTC apps or if if it was usable accross all apps (like any text app got from some market)
Especially that i do not see any trackpad on the Desire HD, and what i saw on Nexus One is that text selection is hidden by the finger (ohh big finger hiding such tiny characters!)
Can someone put a video of Desire HD ROM it to see text selection magnifier and copy/paste in action accross other downloaded apps than the stock ones ?
Badly wanted this Desire HD, but might reconsider the excellent tactile reactions of iphone screen and copy/paste feature and buy an iphone4 then
GET DHD
it is a beast phone
yea... still waiting ...
I'll make one now
can you get swype on an hd2 running android? I already did a little bit of searching and i found the .apk for swype and trying installing it and it didnt work. My android build is based off the evo so i searched for swype for evo idk it made sence to me. but yeah can anyone help me out with this?
Swype works great for me on every build of android I've tried. If you're not part of the Swype Beta program you'll have to look for the latest .apk somewhere else though.
This is my favorite keyboard: Ultra Keyboard.
Check it out here:

if swype works on android depends on your build and swype version.
with non-hd builds, swype 1.6 worked awesome! since i use mdj froyo hd 4.3 build, it stopped working... i figured out why: i needed a matching swype version, especially made for desire hd - after installing this, it worked flawless. the only minus is that it's not as fast as 1.6 but looks better
You can just get slide it keyboard? Works in the same way and you don't need to be in any sort of beta program.

Swype works great on my HD2, the only gripe I have with it is portrait/landscape, seems to be very slow to respond to the direction your holding the phone.
