HELP restoring contacts in phonebook! =(( - XPERIA X10 General

Hello,
I have just made a format of my X10i. So, reinstalled the latest italian firmware (R2BA026) and restored all my data. I took the occasion of this format to change my microSDHC upgrading to a 16GB Class10, too.
Now I have an huge problem with the phonebook: if I restore my contacts through the Backup software application by Sony Ericsson, the contacts are all successfully restored. But... when I restart the phone, I don't found them anymore!
I tried with three different backups but with the same result. I also tried to use the Sony Ericsson Sync application but instead of downloading the backupped data on the phone, the X10 did the upload to the server, without downloading any backupped contact from the SE server.
How can I do? Any idea to solve this?
Thanks!!

Is data sync off during the restore period?
Sent from my rooted 026 X10i using swype via Xda

Uhm I just used the Sony Ericsson Backup and restore application wich comes with latest firmwares.

The new Sony backup program that comes with the lastest firmwares doesn't backup sync'd contacts. You would need to use the Gmail contact sync to restore your contacts I believe.

bud i had the exact same problem, for 2 days they would jus keep dissapering, after a bit of messinng around i found that if i left the google sync ticked in settings/data sync, they stayed as they should, dont kno why it started to do this after the update but.... it worked
hope that helped

Just solved! Here how I did:
1) Restore contacts from backup made with Sony Ericsson Backup application;
2) Backup contacts from the phonebook to SD card;
3) Restore contacts from this latest backup (wich has nothing to do with the original backup).
Now it works fine, finally!

Lost my Inbox and SMS. please help!

I'm not sure exactly how or when this happened... but I recently did a hard reset and a restore, I cannot seem to go to my inbox or even send sms from my contacts list.
The icon is still on the start menu but it does nothing.
any ideas?
thanks
Dino
Are you using sprite backup?
Try to upgrade the backup software.
i just use the backup utility of active sync.
i'll look into sprite backup thanks.
i ended up hard resetting and just reinstalling from scratch.
too about an hour and a half to reconficgure and resetup my phone.
You can solve this issue..
Just restore your old backup, install Sprite Backup 3 (make sure its not older than version 3) and backup your device using Sprite Backup.
Now, hard reset your device & install Sprite backup, then restore ONLY the SMS messages.
It shall work like a charm 8)
It happened the same to me but after making a backup. I just lost the access to my inbox and tried to send an SMS in the contact itself but noting. Not even receive them. Anyone can help so i cant have to install averything over again. My backup was just perfect ..but then this happened after restoring
Never use Sprite Backup earlier than version 3
I used the XBackup that comes in windows...
Imagination, what backup software you've used to make the backup ?
This case happens when you restore a backup, so did you make a restore?
Yes it hapened after i made a restore. I used Xbackup (the app thats already intaled in windows). I used it for the backup and for the restore. I made restores before and this doesn't happened. But this time i lost the inbox and sms.
aha, seems your SMS reception is dead now!
It happened to me once, when I did a restore. I was forced to hard reset my device
but before the reset, I backed up the entire device using sprite backup, and then I did a hard reset, installed Sprite Backup 3, then restored ONLY the SMS databases. It worked!
But for you, you are not willing to re-install your applications!
I saw a program that fixes this problem. It clears the SMS databases.
after that, you can restore only the SMS part of the backup.
I guess its named SMS CLEAR...
If I find it, I'll send it to you, dude
Ok thanks. I will try to find it. Hope it works. I will try sprite backup too. thanks
Your most welcome, dude
here I found it, its name CleanMail !
It fixes all the database corruptions in your SMS & wipe all emails & SMS messages, so be sure you have backup of all these databases.
you can get it from here:

The only improvment that made was appearing in inbox You have a new SMS message, but no luck trying to open. After that i reeintaled the backup and used the app again but still no luck. I have to make an hard reset in the week end and reeinstall all over again and i will use a third party software for backing up. Thanks for the help
Oh am sorry to hear that
Well, its better to do a hard reset, since it seems that SMS databases are hardly damaged!
I advice you to install Sprite Backup 3.. its the best backup software ever!
I wish it will work out smoothly with you.
Cheeeeeeeeeeeeeerz
Solution for missing Inbox SMS Folder (and service)
Hello! I managed a solution to recover the the missing Inbox SMS Folder (and service) from a recovery by ActiveSync. The problem is that when we restore there is an active program that uses that service and therefore it cannot be restored. In my last try I unistalled Webis Mail, unchecked everything in "Today" and made a soft reset. Don't run the Outlook in the PC, if you use Jeyo Mobile Extender because this program acesses the SMS folder in the PDA. Do a restore, and when it finishes it'a all OK again. I was already preparing myself to do a Hard Reset to use SMS again! By the way what's the best ROM for Window 2003SE ? Thanks.

MyBackup problems - noob warning!

So, before my first attempt with flashing a custom ROM I made a backup with MyBackup, and like any noob included everything, all apk-s, all data, contacts and everything.
Flashed and rebooted succesfully, restored backup and then something went wrong. Everything was restored except my contacts, but also everything worked somehow buggy, with "com.google.process.gapps has stopped working" all the time and the worst part:
Restore contacts failed: unknown error
Unable to convert BLOB to string
Click to collapse
Some contact were synced in one of the attempts, but most of them were deleted from my phone and ALSO FROM ONLINE GOOGLE CONTACTS, followed with some annoying warnings about deleted contacts. Like I didn't noticed... so, for the biggest part it was my own fault. Should have left the contacts to sync from the "cloud" - or is there another way? Also, I emailed RerWare if they could help me with that. They responded within few hours (very nice!) and here is a part from their answer:
We have a minor bug which affects a small amount of users. People who made a contacts backup from Android 1 device and restoring it on an Android 2 device. (contacts only)...
This issue has been fixed and will be out in the next release. If you can not wait until then, you can send us the .ZIP backup file, and I will alter it so you will be able to restore your contacts. But, if you do it this way, your contacts photos\icons will not be restored. If you want to wait for the fix, this will restore everything including photo\icons.
Click to collapse
But in the meantime I restored it myself the hard way. There is a way to only view the contacts using MyBackup, which leaves HTML dump on SD card under "\rerware\MyBackup\tempHtml" . Copy&Paste into Excel, edit the numbers and what you have to do (little help from Google), save as csv file and import back into contacts. It will merge with existing ones so everything is fine again
Hope this helps someone
Just as a little point (not read you whole topic not got time)
never use mybackup to backup contacts especially if they are also synced with google.

Recovering contacts

I've upgraded from 1.6 to 2.2 (custom ROM, of course). Before i updated it, i made 2 copies: one with mybackuppro and other with Titanium Backup. Now, in 2.2 i cannot recover the contacts.
MBP says: "You do not have a google account setup". but I already have setup correctly my account (i installed MBP and Titanium from the market)
Titanium Backup says "All correct" but it doesn't restore the contacts
So i want to know how i can open the backup files with the computer to recover the contacts and copy them manually.
Thanks
PS: I will have no internet access since next friday. It's not to make you run. It's just that if you answer later i will see it when i recover my internet conection, so i will not say nothing until then.

[Q] Titanium Backup - contacts data

I have rooted my Droid X and installed Titanium Backup. I want to do a backup but am concerned with including the contact and calendar data. Since I am on an Exchange account and Gmail, I don't need to back up the actual data files. What are the names of the data files for contacts and calendar? There are several "Contacts...." and "Calendar..." files. One says storage, another data, which one do I exclude?

i have found if i restore ANY data i have the syncing symbol on my notifications bar all the time, i do the batch Restore all missing apps and click app only from now on
If you have them syncd to your Gmail account, they are ALWAYS backed up. Menu, Settings, Accounts & Sync, check the "Contacts" check box and all of your contacts sync to Gmail.
I do understand that the are essentially backed up via sync with Gmail and/or corp exchange. That is why I don't want to backup that data with Titanium Backup. When I open Titanium Backup, I do the following.
Select Backup/Restore tab
Select Menu>Batch
Select Run Backup all system data
When I scroll down, I see the following Contacts files
Contacts 2.2.1
Contacts Storage 2.2.1
Contacts Sync 2.2.1
Contacts Sync Adapter 2.2.1
ContactsData 2.2.1
ContactsUnconnected 2.2.1
Which of those files should I deselect so if I need to do a restore I don't receive duplicate contacts?

This has been fixed in the newer versions. (At least in my experience) the last restore I did with TiB I restored EVERYTHING and do not have the sync symbol stuck there anymore. This used to happen to me also but not as of late with the newer updates of Ti.

I have gotten a replacement DroidX and this has happened to others as well. While other I had did not have this phenomenon. But after I reestablished root and installed Titanium Backup, i notice "ContactsUnconnected 2.2.1" is frozen. I unfreeze it, reboot, and it is frozen again. And I never froze it to begin with. And my previous DroidX did not have it frozen do I have yet another possessed DX? With a mind of it's own? Wanting to be a real Android (boy)?" (bad Pinochio" reference). What exactly DOES "ContactsUnconnected" do? Is it still an unknown variable as it has been since day one?
Many thanks in advance. (Please ignore my phone info on my profile if it still says WinMo. As I have not had a chance to update my info yet)

Help! Contacts gone after Flash!

Hey all,
I just succesfully flashed Android 2.3.4 to my SGS. Also I succeeded in restoring all my apps with Titanium Backup (I didn't restore System-Apps and Data). I linked the new system to my Google Account, and hoped that my phone contacts would be restored. However they are all gone and although my phone syncs with my Google Account it doesn't retrieve the contacts. What can I do? Are they somewhere in the Titanium Backup?
Thanks for your help.
have you checked that you set your phone to show you google contacts?
you can set it in display settings in your contacts
