Nope, as the handsfree works as an antenna
probably no, because the radio uses the wire of the headset as an antenna.

I was thinking of getting one of these, then you can plug your HTC into any HI-fi, speakers, car radio, other headphones etc...
Yes there is a registry change but you need the lead plugged in as it has the aerial built into it.
Any way of plugging in the handsfree to work as an aerial, but route the sound to a pair of bluetooth headphones?

My Diamond is link to PC at work, is not possible for the radio uses the wire USB ??
My radio works fine with only this guy pluged in.

People keep talking about this FM radio thing. How/what does one start to control the radio. I don't see any application (Sprint version of HTC Touch Diamond - Did those bastard disable this?)?
At my gym they only provide the audio program for the TVs there over a short rebroadcast FM station. Sorta like what some drive in theaters do. IOW to listen to the audio for the TV I must tune into 106.9 FM but I can't, for the life of me, figure out how to do that with the HTC Touch Diamond. OK I plug in their silly wired headphones and then do what?

not different from any other FM radio with presets. from the Manual:
11.4 Using FM Radio
FM Radio allows you to listen to FM radio stations on your device. Since FM
Radio uses the provided stereo wired headset as an antenna, you must plug
in the headset first onto the earphone jack of your device before you open
the program.
To open FM Radio
Tap Start > Programs > FM Radio.
The first time this program is used, it will automatically scan for available FM
channels in your area, save them as presets, then play the first FM station
found. For information about saving favorite stations as presets, see “Save
presets.“
When you tap on the FM Radio screen, the program continues to run
in the background and allows you to continue listening to the radio while
you use other programs. To turn off the FM radio, tap on the upper right
corner of the FM Radio screen.

point taken but are u sure that there are serious differences (if any) in using the FM radio or maybe you think that his (US, CDMA) version came without a manual or that in his manual there are no instructions on how to use the FM radio? i still think that this is a severe case of RTFM
ready to bet that his version of diamond has the same way to operate the FM radio.

I live at 1850 m, 700 m to a DVBT, 1.4 km to the next HSUPA and 1.9 km to a radio antenna and I have a verz good reciption ov everything.
Even I would accept using the cable as antenna but routing the sound to the bt headset. These small programs routing audio, I will give them a try and report in case of te FM radio.
Meanwhile, perhaps, some of the gurus can find out how to disable the nasty cable check please...

i m afraid that is a hardware trick so no soft or registry tweak can change it.
maybe if you have an old usb cable, cut the cable and use only the usb plug you'll be able to trick the device in "thinking" that the antenna is in place.

I am a happy switchover to Nexus 4 from my iPhone, only thing I am starting to miss are some integration bits with my car audio system.
I am currently connecting the phone via bluetooth and it is working well, I can stream music and use built-in car dialler, however, I do not see what is currently playing on the car dash.
When I had the same setup using iPhone, I could see the currently playing song information. I can still skip to the next song using car's steering wheel buttons but I only see "Bluetooth audio" on the display.
I am using the default Google Play app to play music - have also tried with dogcatcher but no avail. On the iPhone various app worked - Music, Podcasts..
Second issue I have - is it possible to "force" phone calls to background when connected to bluetooth headset? I would quite prefer the satnav to stay on instead of seeing the current caller's information - as I already see that on my dash.

The first problem is caused by you and other people buying iPhone. You have contributed to pushing 3rd party manufacturers into supporting proprietary apple formats and communication protocols.
There is a perfectly fine Bluetooth protocol for track display, but your car stereo doesn't suport that, only the proprietary Apple one.
Hopefully you are now aware of the evil lock-in tactics that Apple have been engaging in, and next time you will check the product specifications to see see if your purchase is going to lock you in in any way.
Volkswagen and their bluetooth devices work fine with Android. It's Android that lacks a proper protocol to push that info to the radio. I know this because I worked with VW for months on troubleshooting the issue. Eventually, I obtained a stock galaxy S3 and it displays info just fine. With a custom 4.2.1/4.2.2 rom, it does not, just displays "BT-Audio".
CM is adding in bt tag support, but it currently doesn't work with play music, but is noted to work with pandora.
OP - your second issue is not possible. The radio automatically flips to the most recent info it has to display to you. You can manually toggle it back IIRC, as I can on mine.

I have spent time on forums trying to get a solution to play/pause / skip music using a bluetooth adapter.
It now works quite well, with in my case HTC one connected in bluetooth over a belkin adapter in my car. I suppose it may work with any kind of remote buttons.
You just have to download on the app store the app named "JAYS Headset Control".
The last version seems to have fixed the music skip which was often interpretated as pause.
You can custom buttons, with no luck on my side, but at least when you press once, you have pause, another time, play, then twice, it skip music.
I just wanted to share this.

Not sure if this has been discussed on XDA before - couldn't find it in search - but problem is this:
When I have BT activated on the N6P along with Google Maps Nav, the sound output (voice directions) is either:
a. When phone is set to BT stream music = sound command is partially cutoff at the beginning -or
b. If the radio is on = No sound output is heard at all
Google Nav is set to output sound via BT under its settings.
This also happened on my OnePlus One.
I thought I had read somewhere that this happen because of the BT format that Android sends to the car's audio system is incompatible.
Any thoughts?
Mine works fine in my car when playing Spotify and Maps at the same time. It lowers the volume and then speaks the command and raises the volume back up again. If it does the same with two devices, I'd guess it's related to the car not the phone.

Hmm...I'll have to test it on another brand of car.
Both my wife's &my car come from the same manufacturer.
I have a generic head unit with android 6.0.1
For calls, Bluetooth music streaming, voice commands and the phone reading messages and such, I need the phone app which is called simply Bluetooth. It contains graphic buttons for the phone, Bluetooth audio and contacts.
The thing is I listen to music via usb audio and Poweramp. So if I want to make a voice command and have the messages read to me (via voice command) or send dictated WhatsApp messages (via same voice command) I have to get out of the power amp app, open the Bluetooth app, press the audio button so it starts streaming Bluetooth audio and then I can finally press the phone button to activate the voice command.
Is there an app that can activate Bluetooth audio (so it stays on top) when I’m using power amp? Kinda like when listening to music and having google maps interrupt the song to tell me directions. In other words, press the command button on the phone and then having the head unit interrupt the music reproduction and make and listen to sounds?
I don’t see the problem as the phone is permanently connected via Bluetooth so I don’t get why the system needs that app open.
