OK so I went over to my friends house and uploaded a couple of movies from his PS3 to my phone. Afterwards when I get home I attempted to plug my phone into the charger and it would only recognize for a second before going away(charging indicator). So I rebooted the phone, but with the charger plugged in the phone would not stay off, it would automatically come back on. Finally after a couple of hours I unplugged the charger and plugged it back up, it appeared to charge. Now overnight recharges do not refill the battery to Max, more like half. I am running stock and I need some advice.
Also it wouldn't recognize as a storage device by the pc
I really think this phone's battery is just garbage.
Mine only ever gets to 90-95% overnight. I'll leave it 8 hours or so.
I say hard reset. I have no issues charging. Mine will charge fully in about 3.5 hours. If I take mine off the charger fully at 100% and turn off wifi and 3g Itll be on 100% still when I wake up.....
Standby time is pretty decent...
No overnight and I only got 30% the next morning, just tried to clear the cache before I wipe all my data from the phone. I know the factory reset keeps the data on the internal memory, but I am cautious of the delete all user data option.

On my TMOUS HD2 I am running a build of Desire 2.2
Its been working great for the better part of a week.
The only kind of problem I have been having with it is when it dies, I would sometimes need to pull out the battery before it would once more charge.
But that really wasnt a big deal for me, my thinking was, well i'll just start charging it before it dies.
Last night I was up playing angry birds and the battery became pretty low, so I called it a night and I pluged it in to my Chome Notebook for an over night charge.
When I woke up this morning my phone will no longer turn on.
My first thought was my notebook lost power and in turn the phone never charged, but that wasnt it.
The I thought maybe the notebook didnt send out enough power to charge the phone ( I have charged it through this notebook before ) so I plugged it into the wall and the charge light just blinked... almost as if it had a full charge.
I went to boot it up and it only flashed my boot screen before shutting off again.
After I repeated this I would eventually get to the MAGLDR, but right after it would shut off.
I took the battery out for about a minute this next time and I was able to boot all the way to the DFT screen, but it shut off yet again.
I checked to see if I could get into the bootloader screen, and I could, but it still shuts off when I get in there.
So currently.... I have it with the battery out for another half hour before I try booting again.
Ok, its been 1 hour now I put the battery back in. When I pushed the power button it didnt do anything. But when I pluged it in, it turned on to the boot screen and once more turned off.
But a few seconds after that the charging light came on.
I am going to leave it like that for a bit and see where it gets me.
Right now, I have it charging from the wall. I will leave it there for an hour or 2.
haha, any ideas?
atm you can't charge the phone with magldr installed when the phone is off.
hope it helps
I don't believe that is the actually problem.
I had left the phone on the charger for the past hour and a half and just started it up, and to my surprise it loaded all the way back into android and showed that it was actually charging.
I guess.... maybe it was slowly dieing over night because it was not getting enough charge from the notebook.
And when I woke up and check my phone it was so drained it couldn't even boot past the boot screen.
My phone just went dead yesterday, while playing tiny tower. Suddenly turned off, and would not turn back on. When I connect the charger, the led in in the speaker blinks. When the charger is not connected, the phone is completely dead. And it does not respond to anything either way. I don't know if this is rom related. Probably not? I'm thinking returning it to the shop, and hoping for the best is my only option, unless someone here has a better idea.
Update: I tried turning it on, connected to the charger, but without the battery in. It starts. So I guess the battery died? Suddenly and completely?
What happens if you turn it on without battery in and then insert battery?
Mine did a similar odd thing when I first wiped battery stats. Was playing angry birds to drain battery right down and it turned off, but would not start. LED just blinked when power was in. I just had to plug it in and unplug it a bunch of times and it finally started charging.
I did wipe battery stats last week, but have been through a few drain/recharge cycles since then. When I start with the charger connected and insert battery it gets past the boot animation and then shuts off. I tried with a different battery yesterday, and it worked fine. When you say plug it in and unplug, do you mean connecting and disconnecting charger, just repeatedly?
yeah, was just plugging and unplugging a lot and it finally worked. If another battery worked then that would seem to be the fix.
Will try that. Thanks!
Managed to get it to start by putting the battery in after starting with just the charger first. Had to try a bunch of times before it worked. Been charging now for 5 hours, but it never gets past 10% charge on the battery? Do I just let it keep charging or is there some other way to fix it?
That happened to me in the day I bought my phone. It only started with the charger plugged in (and with no battery).
I thought the problem was in the battery, but in the store they tried with a new battery and the phone did not connect. So they replaced and everything is fine (since September).
I have had my Nexus 7 for a week. First two charges went well. On the first one I plugged it when it had 5% battery left, and on second charge I plugged it around 10%.
However, two days ago I was reading something in Google Currents when the message reminding me that only 15% battery was left appeared. I kept reading for a few minutes (2 or 3 at most) and suddenly the "Power off" window appeared and the tablet shut itself down and wouldn't turn on again.
Immediately I plugged the charger, and after a few seconds it let me turn it on again. It said the battery was at 14%. At that moment I unplugged the charger again to see what happened, and the "power off" message appeared as soon as I unplugged the charger. Looking at the battery graph, at the moment I unplugged the charger the graph jumps from 14% to 0% instantly.
This time I let it fully charge while turned off, and the next day I tried to reproduce the problem. As soon as it reached 15%, the "low battery" warning appeared, and in a half second, before I could reach for the charger, the "power off" message appeared over it and the damn thing turned itself off again. It seems to me more like a software problem than a real battery problem.
I've been reading about people who had similar issues on another thread, but there was no solution. Has someone found a way to solve the problem? or you just exchanged it for a new tablet?
Thanks in advance!
Are you running stock out of the box or rooted?
You need to run about three full cycles through it, that means connect the charger and do not disconnect it until its fully charged. I would then unplug it, play around for two minutes, then plug it in again for about 20 to 30 minutes. Only do this bump charging when you completely charge it the first time.
After that initial charge and connecting it to top it off (bump charging) just use the tablet as you normally do until it dies.
Then connect it to the charger when you can allow it to completely charge to full.
If you're stock, either before the above steps or afterwards, use wugs toolkit and reset the stock image. Connect the nexus to your computer, copy the sdcard folder to your computer so everything on the sdcard storage partition is backed up, then install the stock image again which will wipe and reset the tablet.
From the information you gave I think its real likely that's a software problem and resetting will fix it. You can even try a factory reset in settings before you reflash the software.
Let us know the outcome.

I'm using stock, unrooted. I have not done anything a "normal" user wouldn't do. These first days I've been using it actively around 5 hours/day (i'm on holidays ) and I didn't turn it off until this problem appeared. I've charged it 10 times by now, and always made sure it was full before unplugging it. I have not tried the "bump charging" tho... I'll try it and report back
Thanks!
After bump charging it I allowed it to go down to 10% without problems. I hope it keeps running well now!
Finally receieved my Nexus 4 after almost 2 months waiting, but not really enjoying it right now.
Received it yesterday, unpacked it and I couldn't turn on the phone. So I've connected the cable into the charger and a light showed up.. After 30 min I saw a battery icon and after 1 hour I could turn up the phone.
When turned on, it showed 3% battery, so I let it charge for about 5 hours. While charging I've noticed something strange.. it was charging very slow. After 4h of charging it was showing just 16% battery and 1h later it was suddenly at 70%. After it got till 99% I unplugged the charger and tried to use the phone.
Everything worked till I wanted to restart it. The phone doesn't want to start up! Pressing the powerbutton for 20-30 seconds.. nothing happens. Tried the volume button combination.. nothing. Plugged it into my PC and after 10 min the battery icon showed up?! The battery was at 0%! The battery went from 99% to 0% just by turning it off!
I've let the phone charge again, this time the whole night (7 hours).. It was fully charged at 100%. I disconnected the charger and turned off the phone.. and again: a black screen.
I've Googled and searched everywhere but couldn't find 1 thing.. what could be the problem of this? How can my phone go from 100% to 0% by turning it off?
I have no idea what is going on but you need to contact google asap, they'll send a replacement and hopefully the new one isn't a dud.
If you want to try playing with it, plug the phone into a different charger with a different cable, let it charge overnight/12hrs and give it another shot it could be a bad cable/charger (to be honest I think this is a long shot.)
Really sounds like a hardware problem.
Your only option is RMA.
I just got my phone yesterday and I just noticed the only way I can get it to charge is to plug it in and restart the phone. However as soon as I unplug it the only way to start charging again is to restart the phone. Has anyone else run into this?
Any luck with this. My phone is also doing this, but only started about a week after use. The phone will not charge when off and for that matter it will not even restart. Always hangs requiring a long hold of the power button to start it up, then it charges and works fine. So far essential support has not been on top of my request.
Similar issue here that might be related. When I go to bed at night, I plug the phone in and it's usually at about 50%. I wake up, and it's at like 60%, like it charged and then stopped. It never charges up to full. Then I unplug it, plug it back into the charger and it charges to full. There's definitely something going on here with the charging. I will watch it more closely tonight.

No luck so far. It's intermittent. Happened for a couple days now no issue. In emailed support and they have escalated it but I have not heard back.
I went and purchased a higher quality after market USB c charger and the problem stopped. Essential finally contacted me back and are shipping me a new charger.
Anything new about this ? My phone charge to 91% then stop , unplug and replug or restart the phone then it's charge to 100%.
I have motoGS5Plus.It take about 4hrs to charge 50% but it take about 2hrs to full charge when I start charging after restart. My mobile bettry is ok or not performing as per standards?
