[Q]Rotate screen by 180% - Galaxy S I9000 General

Any software in the market can rotate the screen in portrait by 180%. The best if it can auto rotate
The reason of this is we can get mod a mount to mount the micro usb and the audio out upside down.
Good for docking at night.

Nopes. Looked for ages my self as I want to lock my sgs to landscape and use it as a wrist computer. But no luck. Best I can do is launchpro but there's still heaps of apps locked on portrait mode

any other solution
Did froyo support that ?
anyone found solution for this ?

TomTom - Landscape or Portrait?

I am in the process of getting tomtom for my wizard as well as a gps device. I need to buy a cradle for the car and was just wondering if the tomtom users out there could tell me wether tomtom runs in landscape or portrait or both, if both which is better?
Hi, it runs in both modes very happily, although it does not automatically switch between landscape and portrait when you slide out the keyboard. You have to manually rotate the screen using the tomtom menu which can be a little frustrating.
I personally always use portait as it fits in the car holder easier, plus you can use the car charger in portrait mode, not in landscape (i guess that depends on the type of car holder you have)
Not sure about other users but i find the landscape mode very slow to update?
i'd definately say portrait because the road ahead is more important than side roads and you can see turnings and junctions earlier in portrait mode.
definitely landscape.
The Wizard screen is too small for having a good view. Also the info at the bottom will be too small.
The wider screen (landscape) also gives better view on ie. roundabouts.
I use the Brodit landscape holder
well thanks for your help guys, as it clears up nothing
i gues i will just have to installl tomtom first then decide for myself....
i use a magnetic disk from CPW and put the metal strip under back cover so when i want it landscape i just turn the phone. secure enough for me.
To all you tom tom owners out there...
On your tom tom install disk is there both palm and PPC software? I got Tom Tom for my treo 650 for christmas, but it will only install to the palm. I seen nothing for the PPC.
I have contacted tom tom and they say i can install it, but that's no help since i do not have it on the disk. Any ideas?
I don't want to go buy it again!!

I started to use mine in portrate , then switched to landscape, and getting a wider view is definatly better for me. It makes the readout at the bottom easyer to read. Only bad thing is reading a sideways screen when trying to make a call
TomTom Go's, and Pretty much all other sat navs are landscape, so there must be something in it
Best of both!
My brodit holder is mounted on a tilt swivel. Besides fitting very accurate, there is a possibility to rotate the entire holder 90 degrees. I prefer TT landscape but the use of the keyboard in the holde rmakes no sense... So go for the portrait holder!

Landscape mode doesn't stay on.

I have a HTC wizard, with the latest ROM upgrade, but I have a problem. I dont know if this is related to the latest iMate ROM, but when I put my screen in landscape mode it rotates the screen correctly.
Only when I open and close the phone again, the screen is rotated back again. I want to keep the screen on landscape mode.
Is there a way to keep it on landscape and avoid this 'bug'?
it's not a bug, it's a feature
And no - nobody has any ready solution. Would probably require hacking the keyboard driver to stop the call to change the screen orientation. Either that, or have a TSR running which continually monitors the screen orientation and switches to Landscape if Portrait is detected. That would be a lot easier, but such battery more
Weird, because when you select that option "Settings->System->Screen->orientation" you would think it would be a permanent thing .
it would be if it weren't for the fancy slide-out keyboard and the fancy people behind it who thought it would be a good idea to automatically change the orientation to Landscape when slid out (which probably IS a good idea) and back to Portrait when slid back in ( which is a good idea if the device was in Portrait when it was first slid out, but not a very good idea if it was in Landscape to begin with %) )
its just lazy design.
That is really too bad. I found a hint which file to pach : keybddr.dll, but I dont think I can do that

Screen in landscape mode when keyboard is closed

Guys,
First off - Way to go Mods - its great to have a TyTN only forum at last!
Ok my problem is -
When i 'awake' my TyTN, the screen is sometimes in landscape mode, even though the device has teh keyboard shut and is being used in the portrait mode.
Is this a part of teh infamous alignment bug? And does anyone know of a fix?
ptm
As far as I know, this seems to happen when the device is being used with the case. It seems that the magnet in the belt clip makes the phone go to landscape.

aaah....now that would make sense. it seems to have started when I used the case.
I like using a case. Are there any recommendations for adecent replacement?
Thanks for helping out fella!
Been using the case since got the phone.
Sometimes it does indeed be in landscape mode when I take
it out, but it always reset to portrait mode as soon as I get it out.
Happens to me too.

Screen rotation only to the left?

Hello everyone.
I just got my X10 over the weekend and have started to play around with it. One thing I have noticed is that the screen will only rotate to landscape on one side (with the home buttons on the right in landscape mode). I've checked various videos on the net and they all seem to rotate in this direction, but don't show it going the other way. I checked my wife's Iphone and it rotates both ways. Can anyone let me know if this is an issue with the X10 in general, or just my phone. TIA.
Confirmed. the device only rotates on the left side. But i never thought about it before
-Bin4ry
Is there any reason why this would be a problem? must say I've not come across any occasion where I've thought that would be required.

It only rotates to the left, yeah. But I think it's great since I'm seriously annoyed with screen rotation at times. This way I can lie in my bed and write texts in portrait-mode with my phone on the side so to speak. And I don't want to turn it off completely since I use it when I look at pictures and browse the web. I just wish there was a way to disable screen rotation for different applications.
I believe this is the same for all droid phones. My buds Moto-DROID does the same thing and I do recal only being able to tilt the N1 in the same direction. On the DROID it makes sense to me, the physical keyboard only goes one way. However, my bud is left handed and he instinctively wanted to turn my x10 to the right so the hardware buttons are on the left and he coudltn. He immediately did not like the phone.
Thanks all,
this isn't really a problem for me, I just thought it was strange since I didn't really see a reason for it. This is my first Android phone, so I'm still getting used to the benefits and quirks of the system, and just thought it was odd. Well lets hope that we get an update to 2.1/2.2 or are able to root the heck out of this thing soon.
Cheers
The N1 use to do this too but in 2.2 it gained the ability to be rotated into landscape either way.
I reckon 1 way landscape rotation is the best thing ever... esp. with the reading lying down thing... I used to have to hold my Diamond on a weird 45 degree angle in those situations...
I bet you can think of a million reasons why it's great it only rotates one way, but I bet you'd struggle finding a decent reason why you'd need it to rotate both:
I have a problem and can only rotate my phone clockwise, this means I have to rotate it 270 degrees instead of 90, just to get it into landscape
I prefer to press the camera button with my thumb holding underneath the phone. Now I have to do it with my index finger like a normal person
I'm lefthanded - everything works backwards for me.

[Q] Anyone using Daydream?

Hi
I've just enabled the Daydream function but even though it works in both portrait & lanscape when previewing the various options, when I've actually chosen one and plugged it into my charger, it will only function in portrait mode. Is this a bug on my phone or what?
Thx
**Bump** .....No-one else got this problem then??
After more searching on this, I see I'm not the only one with this problem, and it is in fact, a bit of a bug(ger)....
On my Nexus 7 it rotates in landscape mode too...but not on my S4
I have to start Daydream first and put it into landscape mode before plugging in my power connector...it then works OK.
It's been moaned about on various forums etc since last year....but it still hasn't been rectified!
